The FDA classifies it as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Many opiates are derived from opium, but once chemically processed they are not the same substance, many are even synthetic, so you'd not be able to find anything in nature that works and affects someone the same. Vicodin contains Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen (IE: Tylenol) and the Hydrocodone, which is the active narcotic is actually classified as being semi-synthetic. It is synthesized from Codeine, which is derived from the alkaloids in the ...

Im looking for a dr in dallas ftworth that will prescribe vicodin or methadone for chronic pain ## I'm sorry, but there is no listing of doctors according to what they will or will not prescribe that I can refer to for you. And due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if you require such medications on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. Do you currently have a PCP? If so, having them refer you would likely be the easiest way to find the help you need. Can anyone suggest a good doctor in that area? ## Me too!! If you have suggestions let me know. Thanks! ## did you find a doc ## I don't give out names on this site for obvious reasons, but there are numerous pain specialists in the DFW area. I currently take Watson 387 Vicodin. I'm wondering if porcacet, or Oxycontin, or any other pain medications might help my back pain better, and so i don't build up a tolerance to Vicodin maybe i should rotate every so often. I have a back injury related to a car accident. Any advice on alll the different pain medications on the market I'll appreciate it thanks..Scott ## Alternating medications is a possibility you will need to discuss with your doctor. This works well for some people, but it really depends on how your body reacts to any given medication and how fast you build up a tolerance to it. The problem, however, with switching to Oxycodone is that it is much stronger than the Hydrocodone in the Vicodin, so once you use it, switching back to the Hydrocodone is likely t...

7.5-750 Vicodin or 5-325 Percocet --- Which is stronger? ## Hello, Jan! How are you? These are actually equivalent. So, neither is really stronger, it just depends which works better for you. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Vicodine IS Hydrocodone. Hydrocodone is the name of opiate found in many different types of pain meds. Same as Oxycodone is the type of opiate found in percocets, tylox, roxicets, etc. Lortab, vicodine, hydrocodone, and many others are same just different names. It's the mg and the other stuff in pain pills that is what's important. ## Obviously percoce...

Vicodin is a very strong controlled substance. Once you start it's hard to stop then becomes an addiction and if you run out and don't take that vicodin for the day your going to get very sick, cold, puking, system's like the flu. I'd advise ibuprofen. Motrin is good for headache and fever. Please stay away from them. ## Hello, Pigeon! How are you? I hope you'll understand, I'm responding to clear up some misconceptions in your post. Taking an opiate does not always lead to addiction. Your body does get used to it and suddenly stopping may lead to some minor withdrawal effects, but actual addiction requires abuse and taking way more than prescribed amounts, which can lead to those severe withdrawal symptoms that you mentioned. It is best to take all medications u...
They did not discountuine he WATSON brand that was what the pharmacy was telling you so they did not have to explain why they did not have the New Abuse Pills made, There was a contract made the Actavis would be the ones to do the pills and that is why they are filling all Pain meds. This is all about our government trying to control our life. We have no freedom anymore. We can't even have freedom of Pain. It is all crap. The thing with the National Pill registry, trying to get people on health care, that's all a way to monitor where you go to the Doctor what meds you get, it's all a plan...WATSON was not discontinued. ## Complaining to the FDA about weak percocets from activas is a joke.its the FDA thats trying to take away our pain meds. Boycott all Activas products and go...

Hey guys. I am new to the northern Iowa area. I have been dealing with chronic pain for 21 years. Up until 2 years ago, I had never done anything but take Nsaids for pain. But then I started taking vicodin, and then last year my pain doctor started prescribing oxycodone and a muscle relaxer. It has been the only thing that has helped me. I've tried injections, physical therapy, and acupuncture. Now that I have moved, I am having a terrible time finding a pain clinic that will provide my meds. Everyone I have seen in the northern iowa, Minnesota area has just been awful. Truly, awful. Does anyone know of a kind doctor or clinic that prescribes opioid medications? I've always heard the mayo clinic system was the best... however I can honestly say, they are the absolute worst :(
UpdatedI have been reading that the m366 is a vicodin but my proscription said norco 7.5 get it filled it say lorcet plus. How is everyone getting its a vicodin? ## All the medications you've mentioned are just different brand names for the same thing, Hydrocodone coupled with Acetaminophen, thus it really doesn't matter which one it's referred to as being. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?
Hello, I injured my back about 10 years ago. An X-rat showed a collasped, bulging L5 disc. With muscle relaxers and mild pain meds I could function. As the years have passed, the pain has become chronic. Over the last year, the pain has become acute. On my bad days, the pain is so severe I can't move. I can't get dressed or feed my cats. I spend the day trying to find a comfortable position to sit or stand. I stopped working last February and now I am on Medicaid. I found an internist who is very sweet, but does not treat chronic pain. He advised me to find a pain management doctor. I went to one. It was a strange consultation. She had my MRIs and all my other medical reports. I told her I can't drive anymore or work. And a list of other things I can't do without help. Duri
UpdatedI have been prescribed Vicodin 10/325 for a couple of years for a failed patella replacement procedure. Now I have to wait at least 90 days for a total knee replacement and the pain is so bad the Vicodin is not effective. I'm looking for a good referral for a clinic in southern NH or northern MA who will prescribe something stronger, like Oxycodone, and not think I'm just trying to score pain meds. I don't want to increase my Vicodin consumption, as that leads to its own problems. Any help would be very much appreciated.
