I too am getting severe muscle cramps and my doctor gave me a script for muscle relaxer!!! I did my own test if i dont take them i dont have muscle cramps!!! I too get them in my arms legs and back and they are very painful!!!

I was on Maxide with only 25mg and was changed to this medication triamt/hctz 75-50mg and I lost the ability to grip my right hand after the 1st pill. I know it was this medication as I didn't take any more and the feeling came back. I am NOT TAKING any more.

I also was taking this medicine Triamt/HCTZ for approximately three days when I started experiencing severe leg cramps. I thought it was over exercising, but some days I couldn't get up from a sitting position to exercise. After approximately five days of ingesting this drug, I almost could not walk without having severe pain in both legs but very severe in the left one. I was told by my primary physician as well as the pharmacist, not to take the drug for more than four or five days. Now I see why, but I did not notice that I was losing any fluids. This drug was prescribed for me to reduce the fluid. The instruction of taking this pill is only half a pill when necessary. I am taking the blood-pressure medicine, lisinopril along with this medicine, but I stopped taking the Triamt/HCTZ, since I have experienced this severe pain in my legs. However, I have not felt any pain when I was only taking the lisinopril. I am convinced that even though this Triamt?HCTZ is supposed to be a diuretic, I will no longer be taking this medication, because I have not expelled any water while on this pill. I will let my Physician know, when I go back for my annual well-woman check-up, that I decided not to continue taking the Triamt/HCTZ medication. I am not one that can live with all this pain.

Try drinking tonic water for cramps. It really helped me at bed time.

When I got muscle cramps when using this medication the customer service person at my medical group suggested I drink a glass of tonic water before going to bed. IT WORKS!

I was prescribed Tiamt/HCTZ 37.5,5-25 on 5/5/11 for swelling in the ankels and to help bring down my high blood pressure. I am only 31 years old but high blood pressure runs in my family. Anyway I am really shocked at how some people are having these harsh side effects. I have only been on them for a little over 10 days, and right now I am happy to report that I have NO side effects, my ankels stop swelling 3 days after starting them, my blood pressure came down tremendously and I couldn't be happier with them. I;m sorry so many people are experiencing some negatives with them, but they work fine for me and I'm staying them for as long as I need to.

I have been taking this pil trim. 37.5-25 for approx. 18 years. I tried other blood pressure meds and they always messed me up and had to go back to tria. Now when a specialist wants to change my meds I tell him to forget it. this works just fine. When some goes to he specialist because they are sick most of the time their pressure is up some .

No adverse effects from this med--only constipation every once in a while This med is supposed to cause little loss from pottassium . I have had good luck with Dyazide

I just started taking this drug for swelling in my legs. It has reduced the swelling completely and like others, I've had some severe cramping. I'm also going to start taking potassium to offset the cramping. I have also had some vomitting but I am not sure it's a result of this drug. I'm going to wait another day to see if the vomitting persists. If so, I will consult with my doctor for an alternate diuretic.

I was aware of urinating frequently but as the day continued very lethargic. ZUMBA class was a wash. I could hardly move instant mucsle fatigue and headache with nausea set in for 18hrs. Have informed DR. waiting response.

trimt/hctz expells water from the body...i take a pill just for that and when you pull that much fluid out you also flush out your potassium, which will cause craps in muscles...i have to take potassium pills to counter act the cramps

Wow, i've been on this for oh less than a year but a while and i've never ever had any side effects like you folks are talking about. sorry you have. it's been a tremendous help with blood pressure and no cramping/stomach aches anything. make sure it's not reacting with something or whatever.

My Dr. Rx this medication after I had gained 20 lbs in water weight. He told me to take it as needed. Except for the thirst and headaches when I take it I havent had any other side effects. I lost all the water weight I was retaining and when I feel heavy I just take a pill with breakfast and I am good to go. Sorry to hear so many people are having issues. Good luck

I am currently taking this medication. One thing for sure, you must make sure you are drinking enough water. I was on Hydrochlort, but my doc said that Hydrochlort tends to deplete your body of potassium and magnesium. He said that Triamt Hctz does not deplete your body of potassium and magnesium as much.

I am 48. no blood pressure problems and no diabetes. I am going through the change and my body is holding fliud. This pill really does get rid of the fluid! no leg cramps but I eat a ton of pineapples (loaded with potassium). I am experiencing indigestion -- could this be a side effect?

I have been taking this triamt-hctz for a minute and I have noticed that I hold less water, my weight his dropping and I have not yet experienced any chest pains, but I have experienced mild leg, feet and hand cramping. I just eat something full of potassium and call it a day. I feel it is really helping me..try balancing your diet it you can't eat a full meal, replace it with juice (diluted) veggies and/or fruits. I promise you will see a huge difference in the cramping.

I have been on Triamt/HCTZ 75-50 mg for the last 7 yrs...I have at times, severe aching joints, mostly when I have sat for awhile. I have not lost any weight and it just doesn't seem to make much difference if I take it or not anymore, as I have got alot of swelling. I was prescribed this for water retention. I now have blood pressure problems and am wondering if it is messing up my whole system. Is anyone experiencing the sever joint pain like I am?
