Anyone else experiencing this side effect? Not a normal topic of discussion for me with anyone but my doctor. I found this drug to be very helpful with easing pain, no sedating effect, BUT after taking this medication discovered I was unable to acheive orgasm. It took me a while to figure out it was the Tramadol causing the problem.

I'm a nurse and I told my husband it is the Tramadol that makes him not achieve an orgasm for about 2 hours. He never gives up until he has one, but it takes FOREVER and a bruised "hoo haa!". Well this med is supposed to block the sensation of pain, but yes, it also blocks the sensation of an orgasm, as does any narcotic pain med, although Tramadol isn't a narcotic. The only suggestion I have is stick to Naproxyn (Aleve), Ibuprofen and Tylenol if at all possible. There's no other way around it.

I have recently received a prescription for tramadol due to a knee injury and it helps with the pain but when I have sex with my girlfriend I cannot orgasm and I have a way lower sex drive. My girl and I tried to have sex to get me to orgasm and we went for 2 hrs and nothing I couldn't climax. The only thing that has changed is I've been taking tramadol so that has to be the reason for my problem.

yes I just recently figured out it was the tramadol. Not sure what to do about it b/c I don't want to give up the medication b/c it really helps with my back pain without the worries of a narcotic in my system...any ideas?

I have to reply to you about this. Last month my doc prescribed me this tramadol turns out it killed my sex drive. Im a highly sex drive of a guy and my girlfriend of 5 months wants to leave me cuz of this. I talked to my doc and she said this med does not effect sex drive or give u ED. Im gonna have to seek legal help cuz the doc has told me a lie or shall i say two lies. Also told me its not a narcotic.

So I can get an erection; then it goes down; but becomes erect and I never can have an orgasm; I can go a long time and still don't. Is this really the tramadol? Thanks

smoke cannabis seriously it works just as good for pain and doesn't have this side effect and I am suffering this side affect right now and I found this page seeing if tramadol does this but seriously find some cannabis even if it isn't legal in your state as long as its a small amount and you don't smoke in public or take it out of your house you will be fine.. rule of thumb with cops they don't want to come bust you if you make sure you keep it in your house and you aren't selling it..i know because of many past experiences and I live in texas so if that's what they say here don't worry because its notoriously unforgiving here.

Opposite effect on me! I know when I cant get a strong erection like taking cold meds or allergy meds. I swear Tramadol makes me very hard like I am on Viagra. I have been with a few different women and have lasted for a very long time. I have actually taken it before sex just so I can get very hard.

Now I will say that it is harder to reach orgasm....but I am able to do it...even if I am alone masterbating it takes longer. I can usually last for hours but on the meds I have to concentrate more on cumming.

Dear Med Student, you are overlooking that Tramadol acts on serotonin as a fast acting reuptake inhibitor. This is the main reason it causes sexual problems like all other drugs that act on serotonin. The analysis you give is mistaken because you focus only on one aspect of how the drug works. You're mistaken in stating as a fact that it should not affect sex or that it has to do with CNS. It has to do with the build up of serotonin which dampens sexual desire and ability to orgasm. Drugs have systemic effects, not just one way of affecting a body. Wait until you're actually experienced as a doctor before assuming you know the one correct answer. Doctors can be dangerous when they focus narrowly on one thing and overlook something else.

I broke up woith my girlfriend because I was so embarrassed that tramedol took away my ability to orgasm. She was hot, and even seeing her naked or having her blow me didn't get me hard, but I did not know it was from the Tramedol. I need it because I have severe pain in all my muscles. I ruined her life but I would rather not tell her I broke it off because I was too embarrassed to just deal with not being able to keep an erection. I wish I had known this before she moved on with another man. Now I am alone, and in severe pain without the Tramedol, so I either keep taking it and be lonely and single, or stop taking it, and be a complete jerk because I am in pain all the time.

Yes, cannot orgasm when on tramadol either. Both myself (female) and when my partner ( male) was on it after surgery.

I went to my doc and explained the problem (you can do a search and show him or her studies where Tramadol is used for those with premature ejaculation problems). It is clinically shown to have this effect. It's not just you making it up. The doctor then prescribed me some oxycodone. While we do have to plan things out a bit more. I take oxy instead of tramadol for about 24 hours before being intimate... You might be able to do this is less time as I'm in my mid-50s. This has been life-saver for us.

My husband has been taking Tramadol for about 4 months now and he has been having these same ejaculation problems. Last night was the first time that he could not at all. It is causing some real problems in our marriage because I really did not think it was the medication. I feel so much better after reading all of these posts. I hope that we can work through this. I know that he feels this is a good medication for his back pain but hopefully can find something else soon.

Can confirm that Tramadol has immediate negative sexual side effects.

I only took 200mg over 24 hours and during that time I had difficulty in maintaining an erection and achieving orgasm, and when it finally did happen (it took a lot of effort) it was very unsatisfying.

Because of this, I stopped taking Tramadol. Happy to say that the ability to orgasm came back within 24 hours of giving the drug up. I went back to Codeine; I'd rather have the constipation that it causes than the effects of Tramadol!

I had exactly the same issue when taking Citalopram (Celexa) and Prozac a few years back; I think Tramadol is in the same group of drugs as those.

Not true on the day or two of being off it. According to other posts, and myself, it can take months or even longer to get back to near 'normal'. And some claim that the damage is permanent.

It is definitely the Tramadol! suggest to your doctor that you'd like to take an alternative drug to resolve whatever your issue may be because of the tramadol's side affects...
I don't know why it's not CLEARLY stated that this particular problem is indeed affect...& it's not that you have a low sex drive, but you can't achieve an erection to save your life.
Nonetheless, if you stop taking Tramadol for I say a good 24-48 hours, the affects should wear off and this problem should no longer occur.

Hi I been taking traMaDol for about five years ...I can't get it hard at all now ..its so imbarrasing I can have a woman get naked and touch me and still nothing. can this be the Tramadal...oh I'm also a diabetic but it never happened until I started with Tramadal my sex drive is low as well

Tramadol experience. Me too! I am in So. América with women! That know how to treat a man and out of nowhere the same situation developed for me. I was reading about ED and stumbled on a comment stating Tramadol was the culprit responsible for ruining a good evening. However there is a strange twist to the side effect. Tramadol use will decidedly extend your activity with no end in site I.guess the moral to this story is, pick which pleasure you seek, as I never have both with Tramadol. One other comment. My size had gotten larger around the clock. I had no clue why? Until I read the article and then I understood.

I have the complete opposite, takes me longer to pee than to climax. Im on 200srl twice daily duragisc 50 patches and diazepam. Had a great sex life before and would last for ages . Now 2 minutes and im done, lost sex drive too. Any ideas to help.
