Anyone else experiencing this side effect? Not a normal topic of discussion for me with anyone but my doctor. I found this drug to be very helpful with easing pain, no sedating effect, BUT after taking this medication discovered I was unable to acheive orgasm. It took me a while to figure out it was the Tramadol causing the problem.
Tramadol worked for my favor, i had pretty quick ejaculation, sometimes as soon my thingie touches hers. the doctor said to take 1-2 pills every 4 hours and an hour before the intercourse. in the beginning i didn't work for me, then i discovered that if i waited 3-4 hours after i take the pills, i was able to last for an hour!!! i noticed a side effect though that i start itching all over the place!!! but that doesn't bother me since i really had hard time in the beginning that i can't perform, but now i feel more self confident and can last.
As a male, I LOVE Tramadol because of the side effects as it allows me to prolong intercourse at will. I am not aware of a noticeable decrease of sensation, I can simply hold out indefinately. When I CHOOSE to orgasm, it's never a problem. Needless to say, I have a very happy girlfriend. I can't believe Tramadol is not marketed for this purpose!
I used to take Tramadol for back pain, I too noticed a decrease in wanting to have sex. But when I did have sex I had the most intense orgasm I have ever had ever. It was the Best I want to have orgasms like that all the time, but I don't want to take Tramadol. Anyone know what will increase an orgasm ?
I've taken Tramadol a few times now for neck pain. I decided to search online about Tramadol and sex drive because mine decreases considerably whenever I take the drug. However, it returns as soon as I stop taking the drug, within 24 hours. Glad to know it's not just me.
I am 45 years old and recently used Tramadol to increase the time of intercourse but i found a sharp decrease in my sex drive. I found no other factor involved in that except this tramadol.
Yes, as a male, I've had precisely the same problem. No problem having sex, just achieving orgasm. And it is definitely the Tramadol. Other pain meds don't have the same effect.
to Lisa, and all the other #'s who asked. Get off the drug for a good clean 3 weeks. It should help your body achieve balance. And i dont mean this in a bad way, i am usually a law abiding citizen, but if the pain really is that bad, try the weed. Its helps me through some intensly painful nights of gout attacks.
Hi, i am a med student and hopefully can share some insight with you. Traumadol, since it is an opiate/narcotic only effects the CNS. It relieves pain, yes, but should not have any effect on achieving orgasm unless you are constantly on the drug and also trying to have coitus. The reason being is that when you are on this drug, it supressed the CNS reception which might block out the other stimulations as well. Try coitus once you have given the drug a break and allowed your body to recooperate. Taking the substance for years i would imagine is not a good idea, esp for you liver. It can lead to liver cirrhosis and compromise. As for other drugs that can block pain but also enhance other effects of the sense of touch would be that of the THC, and methamphetamines. If i had a personal opinion, marijuana would have a better potency for normal persons to inhibit pain but allow other cognitive functions to go on. Its a shame that the US had this item listed and is not as liberal as the Netherlands.

the tramadol also affected my sex life in a similar way, except it worked in my favor. very soon after taking this drug i did notice the lessened sensation during intercourse, but because of this, i've had well over twice the longevity in bed, and a much more intense orgasm... once it's reached.
i've also been able to perform at a pace i wouldnt otherwise last for more than 20 mins.
i too have experienced a decreased sex drive and inability to have an orgasm. before taking tramadol i had an extremely high libido, especially for a woman. i have very little sex drive and rarely if ever orgasm during sex (which leads to avoidance of sex altogether, so that i do not disappoint my boyfriend). does anyone know how long it will take for my libido to return to normal after discontinuing use of tramadol? i have severe lower back pain, sciatica, 4 herniated discs and broken vertebrae in my back, but i will endure the pain to get my sex drive back.
also, in my opinion, tramadol is more addicting than oxycodone, hydrocodone and other common narcotics (with the exception of oxycontin, of course). i want to stop taking it and due to the pain and the withdrawal symptoms, i have struggled for years. any suggestions?
I have been takin tramadol for about a year now and about 3 mos of takin it, I started to not be able to acheive an orgasm and never really knew why, I always thought it was just a hormone thing with me bc Im on the depo-provera shot!!! after time I started to really think that it had sumthin to do with eithe the tramadol or the vicodin that I take...I just rear this and am now convinced that the tramadol definately plays a big role in not being able to climax...it suks and hopefully when we all get off these meds we will be able to njoy sex again:(
So I am not crazy. July 08' will be two years since my accident and I have either been on tramadol tabs or injections due to nerve injuries. I have had orgasm problems too and have suspected that of all my meds, it seemed to be the trouble maker. I am gonna talk with dr. again because love life is important as life itself. Glad I am not alone on experiencing this.
I also wanted to add that this type of thing is usually just a temporary side effect that will wear off as your body gets used to the medication.
This is a very common side effect of pain relievers, even a mild one like this. This one probably causes the problem even more so, because even thought it does not act like a narcotic in the body, it is based on an opiate and classified as a mild narcotic.
Yes, please speak to your doctor, as there should be other options you can try that may not cause the same issue.
Thanks for the reply and the confirmation regarding orgasm. I'll tell my doctor that I'm even more convinced.
I have been taking Tramadol for about 5 years for back pain. I am getting better - down to one pill per day unless I have a flare up! Unfortunately, I have not been able to achieve an orgasm either - it's been about 3 to 4 years for me. Like you, I believe it is the Tramadol, but, I'm stuck. I haven't found anything else to ease the pain that doesn't have alot of other side effects. Thanks for sharing! I thought I was the only one!
