My moods are up and down and very extreme with anger and crying for no reason at all. Is my dose of levothryroxine too low? And will I have to take it for life? Thank you for your replies. ## I had my dosage increased to 50mg just before Christmas...
I've been on levothyroxine for about 4 years supplemental to also taking Naturethroid. I've been at a stable dose of the two for two years. My old pharmacy closed about 6 months ago, so I'm not sure but I think I was getting Levoxyl there. The new pharmacy has been filling generic. I'm going to ask them to see if it's been a steady brand or not. It seemed fine, but the past 4 months I've been experiencing extreme mood swings and anxiety and depression. And then just this week intense bilateral knee pain, intolerance to cold, and constipation have returned. I had just gotten to a point where I was considering antidepressants, but when the other symptoms resurfaced it occurred to me that perhaps it is all thyroid related. It's possible that the generic had an i...
Earlier this year, I found out I have hypothyroidism. I went to my doctor over some weird periods that would wind up doing things like not coming for three months and then bleeding nonstop for three months. I got my thyroid levels tested twice and with a final TSH of 14.5, my gyno put me on 25 mcg of Levothyroxine (she was going to do Synthroid, but since my insurance was going to expire, I asked for the generic). After being on it one month, I was retested and my TSH went down to 5.07. Doctor said it was close enough to normal and that I'd be sticking to that dose long-term, and then I got a three month supply of pills. I didn't feel different whatsoever after taking the pills, even after I'd finished off the bottle. I suppose it's good I had no side effects, but I also...
Hi, I was just diagnosed with hasimotos today. I have been crazy lately. My emotions are out of control & I am getting anxiety attacks. I was prescribed levothyroxine 50 mcg. I would like to know how long it will take for this medication to kick in? Will it regulate me & make the anxiety go away? Will I gain weight? Any side effects? I also was diagnosed with sibo (small intestine bacteria overgrowth) I think it's all connected. It's making my immune system off. Thank you for any help, Lisa ## Hello, Lisa! How are you? There's really no way to predict how well this medication will or will not work for you. It may need to be adjusted several times over the next few months, until things balance out. Your doctor should be checking your levels after you've been takin...

My MD just prescribed 25 mcg levothryoxine for my hypothyroidism. I am really uneasy about taking any synthetic drugs. I would like to try Armour Thyroid but he said it is harder to adjust and reserved for patients who can't tolerate levothyroxine. He advised I see another MD if I didn't want to try the levothyroxine. I'm not sure what I should do. ## Hi! My TSH is quite regularly over 100 (no joke!) Go to an endocrinologist if you can. TSH doesn't tell the whole story; you need free T4, free T3 also at the very least. And the thing about Armour thyroid being harder to adjust is BS. Armour has both T4 and T3 in it, and the endo will start you at a relatively low dose, re-check in 4-6 weeks, and adjust from there. My doctor made the same claim as yours, but I've done ...
I take levothyroxine for thyroid. Will it hurt anything if I take extenze with my prescription? ## Hello, Russell! How are you? The FDA classifies Extenze as an herbal supplement, so in theory there shouldn't be any problem when taking it with your medication, but it has actually not been studied to be sure. You should also be made aware that Extenze has never been proven to achieve any of the claims that are made about it and, as a matter of fact, there is currently a suit from those who have bought it and found it to do nothing. Levothyroxine is used to treat thyroid disorders, its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, hair loss and weight changes. The best thing to do would be to check the safety of mixing them with your doctor, before taking it. ...

Dear Forum members, Yesterday I havechecked my TSH level in the blod and found to be around 9.54μIU/L. My age is 33 years now. As per my understanding increasing TSH levels decreases the T3 and T4 levels. I have also given bllod samples for estimation of T3 & T4 levels in the blood. could anyone suggest me what type of medication shall I take to bring these levels to normal stage and diet and any nutritional supplements. As on date I didnt observed any symptoms & problems in my body ## I am 53 years. My TSH level is 12. However T3 & T4 are normal. What kind of medication should I take. ## High TSH levels (if your thyroid and pituitary work properly) increase T4 production, which is converted to T3 by removing one iodine. T3 is very important, if you're a bit h...

The doctor has put me on levothyroxine (100mg) and I'm just wondering how long it's going to take to start working? You may also experience nausea, weight changes and mood swings. Side effects are usually transient and should improve, as your body gets used to the medication, but you'll most likely experience a resurgence of them, whenever your dosage is raised.
