No just ban alcohol I've taken klonopin 2mg and methadone 100mg for 42 years and I'm fine.
Re: Cats68 (# 3)
May I ask why you are on 24mg of Suboxone? I have been told less is better...for pain control. I can't wrap my head around why someone would be on 24mg. I was told by my Doctor they do a 6-12 month taper if it's not pain related. Just curious.
Re: Jane (# 5)
When i first started taking Suboxene. I slept 15hrs for sure. And thats all i took. They don't right that together now. As much. It made me sleepy. And after I got used to it. It slowed down.
Cassie,
My Doc changed me front Xanax to Klonopin and the Klonopin works so much better. This was before I told him I had more than regular anxiety, but PTSD, etc. I ate Xanax like candy it really worked for a little while, the Xanax. Now I don't have anxiety 24/7. Try it.
In case you haven't figured it out I found out the information by now, Sanuk shoes and Suboxone mixed together can greatly reduce your breathing while you're sleeping and you could and usually quit breathing in your sleep that's the most dangerous thing and the major issue and cause of Suboxone, Subsolvs (misspelled), or Subutex mixed together, along with Xanax. Hope this helps ya.
I was on 80mg oxycontin x3 for 10+ years. Just about 3 years ago I changed to Suboxone 8mg x2, then 8mg x1, currently 4mg a day. I have never used an entire 28 day supply. I usually take it at night, so I might forget, or don't think I need to take it.
(I have a new Primary) As for my PTSD, panic attacks, and anxiety. I used Xanax for years, but I was getting rebound anxiety. I was given Klonopin 1mg, which I was on many years ago. It works great! I hurt my back, by walking a bit too far, and sitting on cold crappy bleachers. I was out for 6 weeks. My doctor changed me to Valium. He said it helps the muscles themselves relax. I already take Flexeril for muscle pain. Thankfully he changed me back to the Klonopin. It works wonders for me.
People are saying the mg of Suboxone they are on when they start to taper. My doctor said Suboxone takes 4-6 days to be out of my body. I tried to cut from .5 to .3 and by day 3 I was in pain, well more pain. I'm using in Suboxone because the Oxy wasn't working anymore, and I was miserable. Now on Suboxone I still have a 0 pain doing nothing on the couch, 3 taking a shower/resting, 4 by the time I get into my vehicle. Driving 0, walking short distances 1... The number goes up the further the walk, or standing. So the Suboxone doesn't take the pain completely away, but it gave me some sort of life back.
Everything very true. Thanks for posting that. Also Prozac can send certain people into the zone. Have seen people have virtual melt downs. Also racing heart tremors. This is what makes me worry about Drs. That's the first most obvious place I would have gone. Take the Prozac away and try another SSRI.
Dear Sk8r00, I'm very sorry you are going through this. May I ask why are you on such a high dose of Subutex? Sometimes Subutex can cause depression and anxiety in not NTs. I am a proud vetran mother of a 33 yr old amazing son. My son is full persuasive Autistic. He also has other DX. When he is given Codeine or any pain meds he gets terrible anxiety. To be honest I am more than sure I fall on to the aspergers spectrum as well. I just have not had a formal DX. I think you are very correct with staggering. I started 14 yrs ago on 8mgs 3xs. Then dropped to 16 (until I realized that was way to much for maintenance) spread out 4x a day. I now only take 1/3mg in the AM. Not always every day. I sometimes skip days. And .5mg clonazepam in the PM. 16mgs of sub is pretty high dosage. Because of the ceiling and the time and a half life you might consider talking to your Dr about maintaining on a far less dosage. If you do the drop slowly I think you will find it's very easy to do maintenance of 4mgs per day even 2. The less you take the better. We only have so many receptors. Anything over 4 mgs long term is a waist of money and could aggravate your anxiety. Also you are taking a large dose of Benzo. Valium is a very 1980s kind of Benzo. You might discuss getting on klonopin as it is short acting. It remains in your system for only about 4 hrs...But by far more effective than good old Valium. You are taking a fairly large dose. That should be monitored by your Dr's very very closely. Sub increases the effects of Benzo type meds. That can lead to respiratory failure.
I am on 16 mg of suboxone and 5mg Valium 3times a day prn and 1 mg Xanax twice a day prn . I have Aspergers Syndrome (a mild form of autism) which causes severe anxiety. I'm also a vet with PTSD. I served in the Army in Somalia and Iraq. After years of substance abuse, mainly H, I was put in a suboxone regiment that helped me stay clean for 7 years now. I also have an ongoing back problem from injuries sustained while over seas. I have not been able to walk since September of 2014. The doc thought it was from a SI joint subluxation and a herniated L5-S1. I have had numerous injections, Radiofrequency ablation with little to no relief. I just found out the root of all the pain is from a malignant tumor in my left sacral ala. I find if I do need to take the Valium or Xanax it is best to take the suboxone early and then wait to take any benzodiazepines. Otherwise I do feel sleepy. As someone stated, suboxone will make you feel energized so that is another reason I take it early. I would ask your doctor about what the best way to stagger your medicine is. Especially since you're taking the suboxone for pain relief, not for addiction problems. I hope this helps. I know it can be very frustrating to find the correct doses of medications and then figure out when the best times to take them are, so you can still have some semblance of a life. Be well.
Depends how long u have been on both..Subs shudnt make u tired, if they are, ur dose is too high..Xanax shudnt make u tired unless ur taking too much of it or have no tolerance to it..I take 8mg of subutex and 3 peach xanax a day..I do not feel the onset of the xanax at all, and never take more than im supposed to. Some days I dont need my xanax, so i can just take a peach b4 bed. Take ur meds the same time every day.. If your taking them all at once its gone make u very tired..Subs actually give u a burst of energy...
I take suboxone for pain control and also alprazolam for muscle pain that the suboxone doesn't help. Also Cynbalta for depression. Since the suboxone I am so tired and will just fall asleep. My doctor says the suboxone should not cause drowsiness but it does and is effecting my life drastically. I can sleep easily 11 hour a night and still fall asleep during the day. Have decided to very slowly cut down on alprazolam which I take 1 mg per day. Is this failure to anyone else. Same doctor prescribes all medication.
Dear Cassiebaby, I'm on 24mg of subs and 3mg of klonopin. I suffer with PTSD and bad panic attacks. I've been on klonopin 4 about 8 years now. 4 me, it works great! I've been on other benzodiazepine, but the klonopin worked best 4 me.
Thx for replying. From what you wrote it does seem xanax is the probkem. My dr gave me a muscle relaxer for the jerks but I barely take them unless its unbearable. Im now on 40mg prozac, 1-1/2 mg xanax , and 3 mg suboxone. I wish i could stop the suboxone but I know 3 mg is alot even though it may not seem it. Thanks again
Hi Cassie,
Sorry to hear about your situation. From what I could gather, there are some potentially unsafe interactions listed between Xanax and Suboxone. Quoted below are the precautions you should be aware of:
"Using Alprazolam together with Buprenorphine may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience some impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with these medications. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor."
Now I'm not sure if this would explain the anxiety or body jerks you've been experiencing, but it could play a role in either drugs' overall effectiveness.
I'd also be aware that Xanax lists the following as a rare but serious side effect:
"uncontrolled muscle movements, tremor, seizure (convulsions)"
Xanax has also been reported to cause sleep problems (insomnia) as a less serious side effect.
Maybe Xanax is the real culprit here?
