I would like to take nortriptyline (10mg) with zolpidem (10mg) at night. Are these two medications ok to take together? Most sedative hypnotics, such as Ambien and Lunesta do require a prescription, due to the risk of problematic side effects, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, hallucinations and sleep actions. They also sometimes risk being habit forming. ## I'm a student but I can't sleep at night. Please suggest an appropriate medicine I can take for a good night's rest, because my exams are going well.

I am a 29 year old female, healthy, no smoking & drinking habits. I've never had sleep problem until my child was born last Oct. Since Dec I was suffering a bad insomnia and OB perscripted Temazepam 15 mg for treatment and I am still breastfeeding. As I felt very depressed even with the sleep I got I went to a psychiatrist who diagnosed me with postpartum depression and put me on Zoloft. By the time I was already on Tema for about 4 weeks. My second visit of the psychiatrist he asked whether my sleep had improved with Zoloft (the antidepressant) and I told him I was still on Tema every night. He seemed concerned and told me I should only take Tema 3 times most per week (funny my OB did not mention only use it AS NEEDED when she first perscripted me the Tema, and I got a refill),...

I took only 3 of my script. The first night it was like I was sleeping in cotton candy. Night, I was paralyzed physically but wide awake. My cat kept trying to close my eyes, but they'd pop right back open. It was snowing and I swear on all that is holy, I could "HEAR" each snowflake as they bumped one another and when they settled on my roof, FREAKY, couldn't move, glad I didn't have to go to bathroom!!
