UpdatedMy dermatologist prescribed Urea 40% lotion for Keratosis pilaris. Although, this condition no longer bothers me mentally/emotionally, like it did when I was younger now that I know there is a treatment for it I am interested in getting the prescription; however, even with insurance my cost for this lotion is $90. Are there any other cheaper options to treating this skin issue? I was told by my pharmacist lesser percentage Urea lotions are less than half the cost of my prescription. But are they worth trying? ## BADC, Hi there. Speaking from experience, the lesser % urea is basically useless. The 40% as you recall was an excellent topical solution for said conditions. A handful of patrons at our pharmacy opted for the lesser value OTC lotion; sadly each were very disappointed. Everyone ...

Can someone please tell me if Accutane could be the cause of infertility?? ## Hello, Bluegrassgirl! How are you? If your periods are irregular, it's most likely to be related to that. Years ago, when I had the same problem, it took well over a year for me to become pregnant with my son. Have you consulted an OB Gyn? That should be able to do some testing to le...

Should I stop taking it or not?
UpdatedRound, Pinkish, has "Chinta" written on one side. From Thailand. Thank you in advance for you help! ## From what I could gather, there is a medication by the name of Chinta that reportedly contains a combination of: Ammonium Chloride + Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide + Liquorice + Vitamin B5 (Calcium Pantothenate). Apparently it is indicated for use in treating dry and itchy skin. Unfortunately I haven't found any other specific details pertaining to the origin or appearance of this medication; but I hope this at least helps to provide some sort of evidence or clues as to what you may have there. Please post back if you find out any additional information.
I was prescribed clobetasol propionate 0.05% for severe chronic inflammation on my genitals and vagina, now my mouth lips are burning and can I use this cream there? ## Many questions like this get posted, so I'd like to clarify the answer for anyone else seeking similar information… If a medication was prescribed to treat one thing and/or to be used on a specific area of the body, you should not try to use it to treat something else or a different area, unless your doctor specifically instructs you to do so. While such a medication as this may be safe on the vagina and genital area, it may not be safe to use on your face, or lips, which also adds the risk of ingesting some of it and that could be very dangerous. Please don't try to self-diagnose and don't ...

I had been prescribed the tablet Nefrosave tablet (acetylene cysteine 300mg and pyridoxamine dihydrochloride 50mg) by doctor. I would like to know that is it safe to use for long time of 2 months or is it dangerous to use for kidney in future? Are there any side effects using nefrosave tablets in future or now? ## This is actually a nutritional suppplement, used to treat or prevent the medical conditions that can occur if you are deficient in these vital nutrients. Thus, the effects of long-term use have not been studied, however, they are generally considered safe, as long as you are not taking extremely high doses. The Acetylcysteine is even used to help treat Acetaminophen overdose. Read more: Are ther...
I've been using purbac for 6 months for my acne and it has worked like a miracle. I did not get any side effects. All this nonsense about side effects is bulls***, they just make you scared for no reason. Perbac is awesome and it works. ## Hello, Yussie! How are you? Not everyone experiences side effects from any given medication that they try, some people experience them all, some don't experience any, that is just the nature of people, we are all different. It has nothing to do with trying to scare people, it actually has to do with being honest and letting them know what could potentially happen. The FDA lists the typical ones for this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. For example, this was prescribed for me by...

We would like the instructions for using the above product because it is in Spanish. Thanks ## Hi Sam, The english translation for this med is Retinoic acid, more commonly known as Retin-A (Tretinoin); which is indicated as a topical treatment for acne. I don't know what percentage of active ingredients it contains, but the instructions for using this cream state that you should apply it once daily, and only at night, after washing your skin with mild soap and water. Applying excessive amounts may cause skin irritation, so I'd just be sure to use it conservatively if your skin starts itching or has any burning sensations. Additional details on dosage and administration can be found here: dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/lookup.cfm?setid=0ee4fccd I hope this info helps! ## I have me...

Buro-sol has been removed from the Canadian market and states it's discontinued. I have used this product to manage a chronic infection that I have had for the past 45 years. Its the only medication that helped manage it. Not one specialist has been able to correct the reoccurring infection. Is there another close alternative that's availableL
