Prolia Side Effects (Page 88) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.
Kitty~ The number for the USA adverse side effects is 1-800-772-6436. Outside of the USA is listed by country. It's on the upper right hand side where it says: Contact Us - one is for MD, the other is for us. First, you have to go thru the drugs they make and have Prolia open and then you can find the 'Contact Us' numbers. Notice to those in Canada who thought they were left out. You have your own number to contact AMGEN. Also, everyone MAKE SURE you contact the FDA too and with BOTH have a LIST in front of you of EVERY SIDE EFFECT you have with Prolia. When just talking to a nice nurse it could be easy to leave a couple out. Hopefully, this will help them change the formula or dosage of Prolia so we don't have so many severe problems. You are very welcome. Be well~Pood
Norma: You posted at the start of this conversation and I'm wondering if you ever recovered from Prolia? I hope you can see this and will reply. I would like to know about others who posted years ago also if you ever see this! Wondering about all of you.
Jill, I had one shot of Prolia and terrible side effects. I have for the last year taken a suplament called OsaPlex. I go for another bone densaty test in 2 weeks and will let you know if that stuff works or not.
Yes, I got the 'I'm so sorry - I push you into that (Prolia). I wanted you to have strong bones for your hip replacement. What's the surgeon think". I said: He said my bones were fine for hip replacement. He would just use more glue. Now he has to wait until whenever this poison is totally and completely out of my body before he will even touch me. A lot of good I'm so sorry does!!! Boohoo all the way to the bank. They should be sued and I just may go after her. With all the pain Prolia causes add in a 10,000 more times more pain from joints rubbing together that were supposed to have been replaced on June 16 this year and I would be getting close to having my knee replaced now too. First thing on the list will be getting my eye sight back by having this miserable cataract removed which requires a plane trip to a big city. That I had scheduled before June 16. Sorry - RIGHT!!!!!
It's been nearly a year since my first shot. I had another in January 2015. I have been on steroids since early February. They are the only thing that allows me to function. My bone are much worse than a year ago. My Last bone density test proved that. I have been able to take a progressively smaller dose of prednisone. Hopefully I will be able to get off of them entirely soon. It is my hope that the pain, stiffness and blisters will be reduced to a tolerable level.
I have been taking lots of Calcium and vitamin D3. No help from Doctors other than wait for it to leave my system.
Vicky- good luck with your bone density test. I'd be interested to see if those supplements helped you.
Check to see if your doc received payments from Amgen for promoting Prolia. Dollars for doctors on pro publication website.
Terrible side effects for me. Severe chills even in 100 degree weather. It attacked my gastritis. swelled up in stomach lining. Later, yesterday, went to emergency with severe lower back pain. Scale from 1-10, it was a 10 days straight. Could not lay, sit, or stand. Also, fatigue. Prolia? Not for me!!
I had one shot of Prolia in May 2015 and have no intention of getting the 2nd one.
Since "that shot", there is NO PART OF MY BODY that has not been adversely affected, making every condition I already had much worse. In my heart I blame it
on that shot. too much continues to worsen and the timing is too suspect not to be
the cause directly.
What are you on now Poodle? My Doctor wants me on something. He said this stuff that is a daily shot is good but I really don't want to give myself a shot every day. So now they are saying Fosomax for 6 months to see if I can handle it and then start Reclast. Any thoughts, anyone??
Bone Density test resultsno better but they didn't get worse. So I guess thats a good sign. They want me to start Reclast. Anyone ever try it? First for Fosomax for 6 months then start the Reclast.
Hi Vicky,
I've waiting to see your post about the current test. Glad your bone density didn't get worse. I've tried Fosamax in the past as well as Actonel. My bone density got worse so on the advice of my ob/gyn I stopped taking it.
The Prolia is still in me until Oct. 22. After that, I will continue only with calcium, Vitamin D and Magnesium. Someday, someone will come up with something that will help us and not kill us. I had zero luck with Reclast, except for being sick in bed for 3 months and, of course, the calcitonin-Salmon could not work so that's why I got put on Prolia -- kind of a last ditch effort. The Docs are not going to like it but that's the way it's going to be. As a matter of fact I was at grocery store yesterday and bot a large package of baby spinach leaves -- totally full of Vit. D and make a great salad. Be well~Pood
Severe debilitating bone pain after 2nd Prolia shot, ongoing even after 6 mos. Had to quit work as I cannot drive. Also heaviness and weakness in limbs, constant faigue, painful sleepless nights, can even bathe properly without assistance, or brush my teeth.Too many It's like removing 6 mos or more from your life and becoming an invalid. How long does this poison stay in your system and ruin your life?
I wish I could give you more positive answers.
I got my second injection January 20th. I have been on Prednisone ever since. Bad for my bones but it lets me function most of the time. I slowly reduced the dose and stopped taking it last week. After three days the blisters started under my fingernails and on my legs. The next morning I couldn't get out of bed. I went back on the low dose Pred. Finally today I am feeling better.
I don't know how long it takes to leave our bodies. Apparently more than six months. As a side note, I was planning on having several dental implants done . The dentist won't do them. He said that it was very dangerous because my immune system is depressed from the Prolia. The risk of developing bone necrosis is probable.
I hope that you feel better soon

Glad I only paid $6 for the Fosomax LOL I'm going to continue on the OsaPlex and do the Fosomax for 6 months then the Reclast. I'm having Spinal surgery on the 30th I hope all goes well with that. My spine is in pretty good shape just my hips are bad.
Hi C Louise, I am in Lapeer County. The prescribing Dr was in Rochester. She is an Endocrinologist. She sent me to an infusion center for the shot. When I called the Dr to tell her about my symptoms, I emailed pics of the blisters on my elbows and legs, her response was "those side effects are very rare. That was all she had to say. I also called the infusion center and left a message for the hematologist. I got no response.
I have not contacted Amgen, but I have sent detailed information to the FDA. Again, no response.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Hi Sedona, have you felt any better now that 6 months have passed? My mom has experienced numbness and tingling of the feet, legs and sometimes hand fingers. Not hypocalcemia at all, its prolia. We are desperate to know from someone who has felt better after prolia is out of the system and how long did it take...
Hope you are all better
Kathy, I had my shot on April 22 - a day that will live in infamy. I was fine for about a week and then it hit and hit me hard. It has just been the end of August was some better and now in September I am pretty much symptom free except for insomnia. She made a huge mistake and injected the Prolia into my ARM instead of under the skin. I also take a large amount of pain medication as I cannot have my hip replaced or knee replaced until I am totally Prolia free which will be Oct. 22. I'm having the cataract surgery first on Nov. 4. I am still on sleep meds from my psychiatrist and I don't know when that will end. I won't need the pain meds after I get my 'replacements'. Yes, I have arthritis and it hurts but it's not anything like Prolia. I do feel like a human being again tho. I even had a gout like condition on the ends of toenails - different toes on different days. Could have 0 touching my toes. I also feel much better as we found the cause of the constant diarrhea - Prolia gave me an allergy to gluten so as long as I stay gluten free I'm fine. I'm hoping that will clear out in the 11th month but for now I'm dealing with it and doing well on rice flour. Had my Dr. not done the extensive blood testing, I would probably not be alive as all my food went out one end or the other and I was quickly shrinking away. I've gained weight now. My dentist told me to stay away until I am symptom free and he told me if anything happens I cannot help you. You have to go to xxx, my dentist type people that do implants/pull teeth and fix gums, etc. He did find the source of the pain in my jaw and it was a muscle on the same side that got the shot. He knew I really hurt so he spent the extra time to find out why and it didn't take him very long at all. I think with Prolia, the squeaky wheel gets the grease especially when you walk in looking like close to death. I'm sorry to have to write this to you as you are a recent victim but you are also a much smarter victim and we are all here to help each other. I was bugging my Psychiatrist about when is this going to end so he gets on his pc and starts looking around and I said: You don't happen to be on MedChat do you. I'm Poodle so that was the end of his searching so an intelligent Dr. must know this is the place to go to find the truth about medications. I had about everything Prolia has to offer in the way of side effects except for cancer and death was getting close and I had some that Amgen didn't know about before I reported them. You will get through this but it's going to be very, very difficult. Stay on the sofa and watch TV as much as you can. You will get to a point to where you even hate it. If we had a decent hypnotherapist around here I would have gone immediately and acupuncture relieves a lot of pain. Be well my new friend~Poodle
It is over a year since my post re. my sister in Canada. I have avoided posting because there is very little positive to say. It has been a year and a half since the last shot which was not the first. In April she was hospitalized with a staff blood infection because her immune system was not able to function. At 80 pounds and no immune system she had an 80% chance of dying. The hospital was smart enough to discharge her after 3 days away from the germs of hospitalization. I went to be with her for 5 weeks and the massive antibiotics worked. The untold story on this site is that the body is permanently affected by the many damages caused both directly and indirectly by Prolia. Probiotics and digestive enzymes are also never mentioned and a god send in trying to regulate the body after this massive unnatural attack. Rick
