Prolia Side Effects (Page 70) (Top voted first)

Updated

I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

I've had my first Prolia injection a week ago. The past two days I've been feeling shock sensations in my legs, feet, arms and hands. Has anyone else experienced this?

I agree and I have tried to get a lawyer to listen but they tell me that I am not disabled enough. The side effects for me were severe and left me with issues 1 year later but I am not dead or in a wheelchair. Some still come and go. The worst now is my jaw which I have to have get my doctor to evaluate. It locks, same as if I would grind my teeth but I do not. So the nightmare continues. I also have bronchiectasis.

Re: Lynne (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

My first injection was in July of 2026, within a short time I had extreme muscle and joint pain and spasm; the pain only got worse. Three doctors dismissed my symptoms claiming it was “ only” my Fobromyalgia.. Having had Fibro for decades before it was recognized as a real condition, I knew better.. Finalky I went back to Nee Hork to see. S specialist there. He immefiorderrf blood tests that indicated that my calcium level was dangerously low! I advise ever who has tight painful muscles to request, no demand having calcium checked.

The muscle pain and spasm continued with normal calcium levels. My last injection was Jan 2017; the muscle issues lasted until this past Jan 2020 ! One day it just resolved. Probably there is some interaction between Fibro and Prolia. I also experienced severe joint pain which has never resolved. Don’t forget the crushing fatigue ! In addition, it affected my previously well managed Hypothyroidism; I kept becoming more and more hypothyroid., which makes for more muscle discomfort and fatigue. This drug took four years of my life ! I advise everyone against this drug.

I am in the same spot as you. It has almost been 2 years since my injection and I only had one and now I am still having adverse affects and I know they are from Prolia as I remember to well how that felt. I agree lawyers do not want to take other cases as you are not critical in their definition yet it affects every aspect of your life. I have until 2 years to do some and I am always looking and will find someone who will listen. I still have pain in my left area the actual injection site, stomach and bowel problems about every 2 weeks so better than all the time or every week, I still get angioedema of the right side of my face and have developed bronchioectasis lung condition which affects my breathing and my O2 saturation. I am a mess so I feel you struggles.

Big hugs to you! I had 4 or 5 injections and I hate the way my doctor kept pushing me to take the drug. It makes me wonder if he's getting something from Amgen to shove it so much on the patients like me who can't take any of those drugs.

Thank you so much for responding. I'll look up the medical conditions you have and make a note of it so I can be cognizant of the symptoms. God knows I don't want anything else. I'd love to get rid of the medical issues I have.

Sending you more hugs and prayers of healing.

Praying for your wife. Enough of us need to find the strength to band together and stop Amgen from peddling Prolia and it’s next gen ‘new name’ Xgeva at the expense of women who need help with osteoporosis.

Re: Kazz (# 3081) Expand Referenced Message

I agree that most doctors don't know or even believe the side effects we're all going through from this drug. The PA in my rheumatologist's office wanted to know if I wanted to try a new drug on the market. I told her no way. I'm still suffering from Prolia and I'm very sensitive to drugs anyway.

Thanks so much for letting me know about the company updating the side effect list. Last week I filled out the form for the FDA. I hope it will help.

Take care!

Thank you for this information, Kazz. I'm adding it to the list to let my rheumatologist know. I'll write it out and date it so I know when I told them.

Re: kerry (# 3086) Expand Referenced Message

Hi kerry,
I haven't read of very many people who haven't had any side effects. I wish I had never taken the drug. Hope you are one of the few who suffer no ill effects.

Re: Darcy (# 3095) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Darcy, I really hope your Covid shot does what its intended to do and nothing more! I would like to believe that it will be that way for all of us.

I'm not normally hesitant about vaccinations. I have had so many for every possible disease, as have my kids. If I have a sore arm and feel a bit ill for a couple of days after I'll be happy. One way or another, I'll report back. It would be great if we all do!

I promise to keep posting my results...negative and positive with Prolia. Back in 2014 I had an immediate reaction and stopped Prolia. I developed a tender, pea-sized lump in my eye socket. It was like an extension of my existing bone and not a separate growth. After the second shot it grew to the size of bean. Very tender and headaches.(non operable) I had been on Boniva IV for 3.5 years ending in 2012 when the dexa scan showed a 12% increase bone density. It was a hard decision to make but Mayo Clinic etc said "It might be from the Prolia" As did other eye socket experts. In April 2013 I fractured my spine in five places—I had been off bone meds from 2012 till now ... 2021.

On January 20, 2021 I fell in my house (tripped over a throw rug) and fractured my shoulder, elbow, and wrist. My most recent dexa showed a 33% risk of major fracture prior to my tussle with the throw rug. I am 76 years old and after much soul searching and research, I decided that living alone with no one to help me I was better off trying Prolia again. My rheumy is into research. She suggested a new drug for one year before going on Prolia. (Sounded to me like I was to become a test case for Evenity.) I declined the Eventity and went straight for Prolia. I will get the first infusion within the next month. I will let you all know how I make out the second time around. This feels like forgiving a cheating mate...:) a second chance. Oh well...I never seem to learn. :)
