Prolia Side Effects (Page 32) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.
Hi Rita
Don't take it, I have had 2 terrible years behind me and are still in the recovering mode.
Doctor's still don't seem to get the picture.
Maybe there are woman that can the this stuff, but from what I have read there cannot be to many.
Sedona,
So how long did the side effects of one shot of Prolia last? And did you have testing after to see if it helped?
I too am not enjoying the side effects after one shot, and am really worried about developing the jaw/teeth issues.

Daphneyouong :
I only had one shot and have not had any testing as yet will be having the test at the end of the year. On that point. This is all new the the doctors and these bone scans are not as I was told as actuate as say a broken bone xray. They are not sure if say your bones would do just as good with just Calicium and Vit D.
It has been like almost 9 months and I am still feeling effects from that shot. Especially the numbness in my legs. I still hurt at times but not like before. The numbness is about all I have left. After 9 months.

I am retired and I have COPD which also effects my immune system and I was worried because of that. But the Doctor keep saying its ok. NEVER AGAIN will I believe what he has to say. I was down for six months (In bed) just now getting to where I can go out again without being so tired for being in bed for so long. Thank God my hubby took care of me.
Terri,
I too have had strange side effects since the Prolia injection. And while I know they can be caused by many things, the only new thing is the Prolia.
So far they haven't been debilitating but worry when I hear what happened to you!
Daphneyoung
Thank u Lynn for your answer. Had this cystoscope test last friday, should have news. But its also the gums and these hard bony structures that have grown since June - and they aren't going away - I have a 1/2 hr teeth cleaning - and a good diet - the headaches, and the jaw hurts as well. I get so tired that at 7PM I am looking at the clock. I was born during WWII and had TB as a child, also developed pneumonia in 2004 in Florida, and now have bronchiactis - don't smoke nor drink. Ear has liquid in it - cat-scan that was done before it was read last year, doc said everything was OK. Seems they just don't want to deal with it - and each one thinks it has nothing to do with Prolia. Prolia rep has no answers, and can't say if the symptoms will go away. Hate the doc that gave me this injection and never told me about it - nor to take calcium pills. He considers himself a scientist, and says there is no failures, only success. Well, I don't think so much. More and more people are showing up at different docs with problems all due to Prolia. Now this product is all over the world. Money rules.
Dear Sima,
Believe me, you did right, for refusing to get Prolia, no matter how good things are, its a 6 month injection into your system, and you can't get rid of it - its been over 1 year now - and my gums and teeth are very sore - bony growths, and I am afraid I may lose some teeth. Among all the other serious ailments that I have had over the year, the worst in my life.
Do not take anything by injection - its one of the worst things I have taken - and Doc never told me of the symtoms.
Good luck.
HI Im so concern I recieve PROLIA 3 WEEKS ago and I have a terrible pain on my back, and extremities, and sciatic (sorry for my grammar) How long take all this go away? or what I can do ?
We are all going to have to start asking more questions about this drug. Why don't the Docs and Reps know this? My Pharmacist new!!! Don't you think it is weird we all have these symtoms and they (the Docs) say there isn't any symtoms. I feel much better now 4 months out of my treatment. I will never take the drug again.
Dear Mimi,
My symptoms lasted about 5 months. the last month I was building my strenght back up. I am really pissed off at these Doctors. I took vicodin to help with the pain, but it put me to sleep. I pretty much didn't have a life for 6 months ...
Your in my prayers, Sedona
Its been almost 14 months since my first injection of Prolia. I still have the same effects as before. Another bladder infection, acid reflex, just had an endoscope to see what is wrong with my bowels. Had cystoscope, antibiotics, my skin itches, have red blotches, and have trouble sleeping, body feels like its on fire inside - or I am cold when its warm outside. Its pure hell. Spoke with an Amengen rep, who dismissed my problems, and since no one knows how long the side affects will be there or permanent - I can't see the lumpy bony growths on my gums receding - and the dentist doesn't want anything to do with it. Says its torus, etc. Stay away from Prolia. Have ear fluid problems, eye problems and am very tired. Back hurts, on and on - my life is pure hell since that injection. I curse the doc that gave it to me, every day. Hope he will suffer as much as I am.
I have been on Fosamax for about 4 yrs. This yr. my Bone Density came back as lower. Now the Dr. wants to put me on Prolia. I am overall a healthy 68 female and other than Fosamax, I take NO rx. drugs. After reading all of this, I called my Dr. and advised I would rather stick with the Fosamax, take my Vit .D and Calcium and daily exercise at Curves. I feel too good, to have any of the side effects I am reading about. I would like anyone to respond to me about their feelings. I have never had a broken bone, even took a big fall last yr. and no broken bones.
Dear Dee,
You are wise to stay away from Prolia - first of all, all these drugs should have a history for about 20 years, before they know if they work for better or in most cases for worse. Fosamax has also been reported that some women develop breaks in the hips - Calcium and Vitamin D is now considered not all the hype it was meant to be, like getting heart attacks from too much calcium, if you have a good diet, take yoguart, eat all the right foods, and exercise moderately - you are healthy, so stay that way.
To early to tell, i had 3 shots and my life has been hell.
Last one was September 2011 and it still not out of my system. According to the Doc it could take a year to a year and a half.

My mothers rash turned out to be Shingles after her Prolia shot may be to low immune system afterwards, still has back pain and has had the Shingles for 2 weeks now. If I knew then, I wouldnt have had her take the shot. What a hassle.
I have now had my second shot of Prolia and feel perfectly fine - no side effects - just like a flu shot. I am so glad that my Doctor recommended this drug for me! It's so easy to take - once every six months. I will continue with the shots. It seems to me that only people that have problems post on the internet. If all goes well, and that is happening, you don't hear from those people.
OK Sheba
So far you have been lucky, we would like to hear when you have 3 or more shots if you still are so lucky.
I have had 3 and life has been hell for me.
Good luck.
WOW Sheba.......I have to tell you that I heard the exact same things from a drug rep. So I was dumb enough to fall for it. I WAS in per fact health!!!!!!!! Not now.
Perfect weight, blood pressure, cholesterol. No diabetes etc...... Now I have numb feet, legs and arms. Also have weird sensation around my lips. And I feel like a lucky one compared to some of these other women....I work in a physicians office and now I tell other women not to take it.
Sheba,
Just curious here. If you are doing so fine why did you go looking for this site ?
I don't think this is the Prolia sales rep speaking, I think it 's the legal department of AMGEN (maker of Prolia)shaking in their boots. My mother had three shots and I am so worried about her and the extreme side effects she is having. They are the same as the rest of the bloggers and worse.
