Prolia Side Effects (Page 30) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.
Re: Janet (# 3034)
That sounds horrible. I think everyone here has endured these and many other side-effects. In a way you are relatively fortunate that these effects have shown up quickly. Sometimes all seems fine for months so when the side-effects start to become apparent, people do not link them to Prolia. This is how I allowed myself to have a second shot before the side-effects took over my life for about 18 months.
I hope you recovery quickly.
Mine were terrible side effects. They didn't start til after about 3 weeks...then I got headaches...ear infections (wasn't aware that Prolia lowers your immune system)...uti's....strange taste in my mouth...numb lips and dryness of lips and skin. Hip pain. Got lots of tooth decay at gum line...bruising for no reason...would not wish Prolia on my worst enemy....Should be banned.
Re: Faith (# 15)
Hi,
I was wondering about the swollen breasts you mentioned. I know this post was from a few years ago but I hope you or anyone else can offer suggestions.
I recently had a mammogram and a bone density test. I've been taking 20,000 IU of D3 and that seems to be helping but the mammogram has me worried. I've only had one incident about 8 years ago and it was fatty tissue after closer examination.
I'm praying this is all it is again, but I hadn't had Prolia then either. Has anyone had any issues with their breasts after taking Prolia? If the town where my doctor is located isn't flooded by Tropical Storm Beta I'll be seeing him on Wednesday.
It's been hard not to worry. Last month I finished my five months of iron injections for low iron. (7.5 was the number and I felt terrible.)
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or information you can give. I appreciate the opportunity to ask questions and share information in hope of helping ease someone else's suffering.
Hugs,
Nikki
Re: Gloria (# 3058)
Have not had a shot for over 2 years.. am experiencing really intense bone pain.. legs, feet, hips.. mostly on one side of the body... I don't know if Prolia would wait this long to attack.... it is not arthritis ; it is liked muscle cramps but not in the muscles and is prolonged...occurs with no warning or an identifiable trigger...
Re: Darcy (# 3050)
Every time something goes wonky with me the first thing I think is it because of Prolia. It's so hard to not blame it for everything. The eczema I got from it over a year ago is still on my legs. I could smack the crap out of my rheumatologist for coercing me and then refusing to stop giving me the Prolia.
Now, I've got an issue with my left breast. I'm headed back to Amgen's website to see if I can find something. Unless you've had a sudden break while walking or however it's listed as a side effect, those are the only cases attorneys are taking. There is no cure for COPD and now I have asthma-related COPD and the attorney's don't think that's serious enough.
Hugs to all,
Nikki
Re: Kazz (# 3063)
Darcy here ~ Had 2 shots in Jan & June 2019.
First, I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and I wish their problems relating to PROLIA abate tremendously.
Kazz ~ may I ask where you found that 14,000 people have died from Prolia?? I would like to read that article!
At this time I still have little crusty scalp things on my head, a light rash on the back of one of my legs, fatigue, brain fog, and I am noticing skin tag type growths around my middle that are light, then turn darker, some can be scraped off but some will bleed if I do that. Already had a precancer on arm and a cancerous lesion taken off my hand via MOHS surgery.
Keep an eye out for that.
Be well ~ Darcy
Re: Robert (# 3067)
That is really dreadful. I really hope your wife recovers quickly and has no other side-effects. Often various apparently unrelated side-effects develop over many months so that the link between cause and effect is not so clear.
We all put too much trust in medical specialists, sometimes to our great detriment.
Re: JenjiOz (# 3068)
I have been off this horrid drug and I have never been able to get rid of the sores and sensitivity in my mouth. I’ve given up seeing specialists as none have been able to help me. I just live with it and try not to eat anything that aggravates it. I have warned anyone who has considered or been told to take it....beware! It is supposed to be the drug to take as a last resort if nothing else helps. I didn’t need it. The doctor who prescribed it told me she worked along with the drug company! That should have been a warning for me.
Re: Kazz (# 3063)
Hi Kazz,
I did a search for deaths from Prolia but didn't come up with anything. Where did you get your information? I think my rheumatologist needs this information. Maybe it will give him pause from giving this drug to his patients.
I'm so sorry for all the problems you're having, too.
May 2021 bring all of us blessings.

Magnesium 1.6 - 2.6 MG/DL
Calcium 8.4 - 10.3 MG/DLur
When you have your next blood test make sure your results are between the low numbers and high numbers. Some of them can knock you off your feet with problems talked about on here. They are the ones my wife needed and each time she recouped but the Polia must have at on them and reduced them to dire levels. She got out of the hospital Monday and today is Saturday and she is doing fine right now but if those numbers above drop she will be right back to the hospital. I'm just passing along some info and no way practice medicine.
Prolia is a form of Chemotherapy! Amgen the drug never tells you that it is used for Bone Cancer patients! It was a horrible drug for me. Still suffer from many of the side effects and my doctor says I will never be the same, the effects of Prolia, aka Chemo, are permanent! I have reported it a number of times to the FDA to no avail. I do try to inform others of the deadly effects of this drug. HORRIBLE
Re: Lizzie (# 3090)
A very good question. I hope all of us here will post about how they have responded to the Covid vaccine, and which variety they received. I believe that each person who is given it is kept under observation for 30 minutes. I feel optimistic after having no bad reactions to flu vaccines since taking Prolia. The reactions I DID have were to quite ordinary things I'd had before.
After fighting against Prolia since 2014 when I developed a bone tumor over my eye, I am not about to try it again. No one has been the anti-prolia advocate to the level I have taken my cause. But after tripping over throw run in my house and fracturing my right and left shoulders and right elbow and wrist...I am going to try it again. I am 76. Since my mid 50s I have been on Fosomax (bad esophagus damage) and Boniva IV. After 3.5 years on Boniva I went off it and fractured my spine in 5 places with months of no Boniva. I was merely leaning into my car when my spine snapped. Anyhow...I will keep you posted on my results. My rheumy had suggested a new med called Evenity. Side effect...strokes and cardiac problems. Strokes run in my family and it's new drug...I believe it unwise to take any med that hasn't been on the market for at least 5 years. Let's see what happens as I revisit Prolia. Fingers crossed.
Re: Daisy (# 3099)
What a dilemma! I can't imagine the circumstances that could cause me to accept Prolia ever again after my hellish year taking it, and then the lengthy recovery period. At least you have the advantage of being very well-informed this time round.
Is there any option to receive Prolia or similar in another format, e.g. weekly or monthly, rather than a long-lasting infusion? Something that can ceased quickly if the side-effects become intolerable? I don't think I'll ever consent again to a long-lasting injection, apart from essential vaccines.
I also experienced changes to my eye sockets, a degree of sinking of the inner corners, more to one eye than the other. It happened quickly, within the first few months. You are one of very few people who has mentioned this here.
Í hope your treatment is effective and without any major downsides. Osteoporosis is dreadful enough in itself!
Best wishes, Jenny
As I have stated many times, Prolia was a horrible drug for me. It aged me by at least 10 years or more, and my body and the damage this drug did to me, I will never be the same. It is a form of CHEMOTHERAPY! Wish I had known and been told that before I ever had the first shot. A deadly and horrible drug!
Hi y'all,
Has anyone had an issue with a bulging lumbar disc in relation to taking Prolia? I have that and a lymph node enlargement in the abdominal aorta. Both of these were found two days ago.
I try not to immediately think has Prolia done this to me now but it is hard.
Thanks for the help!
Nikki
Re: Dawn (# 3103)
Hi Dawn,
I have asthma and asthma-related COPD and like you got the vaccine for the same reason. I would love to find a way to reverse all the damage Prolia has done. Hugs to you!

Re: Lizzie (# 3119)
I was doing great but a new DEXA test tells me I’m into osteoporosis deeper than I thought. Do not -will not - take any more Prolia or the like. Does anyone have suggestions in our collective bone loss issues, that will help me select a good supplement or exercise that is effective? Need to STOP this bone loss if possible. -3.6 !!! Yikes
