Prolia Side Effects (Page 29) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.
Re: Sal (# 2972)
I watched Forks Over Knives a few weeks ago for the first time.I bought the e-cookbook but haven't used it yet.
Plant based eating seems the best choice (for me).
I'm so happy things are getting better for you. I pray all of us will overcome the issues we're dealing with because of this drug.
Hugs,
Tambra
I got my first Prolia injection Jan 22, 2020, 4 weeks ago. Last week I developed shortness of breath, less when lying flat. Worse when sitting, standing, walking. Conversation is difficult. I went to the ER 3 days ago when it worsened. Ruled out pulmonary embolism, heart tests normal. Anxious. This is some sort of reaction to Prolia. Anybody else with this? Breathing problems are listed as a side effect, but this is horrific.
Re: Betsy (# 2976)
This is definitely what is called an “ uncommon side effect “, and Dr.’s make light of the risk. Do we really know the number of women who experienced
this ? I am sorry that this happen to you, and I wish you good health.
Re: Betsy (# 2976)
You are correct this is totally due to Prolia. Keep a close eye and if it does go back to emergency. It is a type of an allergic reaction. I had a similar event which got worse not better. I only had one injection.
Re: Betsy (# 2976)
I sometimes have shortness of breath and the asthma inhalers don't always work.
The breathing problems listed on the Amgen side effects is pretty vague which is why I didn't think this breathing problem was associated with the drug.
What you described is horrible and I think I have whatever this is aggravating my asthma.
I hope you find something that helps.

Re: Lizzie (# 2990)
I don't have the calcification and bone spurs but I do remember reading that Prolia can deposit itself in areas it shouldn't. I would contact Amgen (not sure if they are recording our information or not) but in the U.S. contact the Food and Drug Administration. An attorney might be interested. The last time I checked attorneys were only interested in the femur fracture/breaks.
Sending hugs!
Nikki
Re: Sal (# 2991)
It is absolutely poison and nothing is being done about it. As I stated so many times, I am still suffering from the horrible side effects from this poison!
So I just read Better Bones Blog, and there is a report on Prolia. It is worth reading.
One of the many issues is the finding that the rate of vertebral fractures after stopping Prolia, was found to be higher than if never taken it.
No wonder I have had so many vertebral fractures. !
Re: Nikki (# 2997)
Makes sense to me. Probably a contributing factor in my multiple fractures.
I had an initial uptick in bone density, then a drop after a Prolia. Of course my Dr said “ I told you so”
according to the article this is normal. One important factor in building bone is exercise, but it is only now, 4 years later that I am able to do that.
Re: Nikki (# 2997)
Yes sounds like the perfect place for Prolia to attack. I wish the FDA would include in the advertising of Prolia that it is being used for bone cancer patients since 2012. This is important information that need to be made known. Gloria
Re: Marman (# 3006)
Not shock sensations, but severe muscle spasms and joint pain. It affected my thyroid, and my immune system has not been strong,
Re: Sal (# 3007)
I have a friend that I warned about Prolia but she took it anyway because her doctor assured her that it was a good drug. Hope she doesn’t have these horrible problems
You name them, I had them. Horrible side effects, it was like poison in my body, and I have permanent damage to my joint and muscles. I will never take another injection. Poison drug. Hope this helps someone to not have to go through what I went through and still going through!
Lots of side effects from prolia....headaches...vertigo...ear infections ...UTIs...tinnitus...hip pain
Think its aged me 10yrs...stopped after 2 shots and on a relay drug to stop spontaneous spinal fractures which you are at high risk of getting after taking more than one dose of prolia....
Re: Kazz (# 3018)
What! Kazz, this is a new issue I had not seen before! Spontaneous spinal fractures? I have felt extreme pain in my back - for no reason- I had not fallen or jarred myself at all. Usually feel it when I am stretching, slightly twisting to one side.
Can you tell more of what a relay drug is - what it does? Name of it?
My heart sinks ~ thought I was finally getting out of this Prolia Hell. ~ Darcy
Re: Darcy (# 3021)
Thank you for your kind words. Of course the Dr. advised more Prolia; I will pass on that. In answer to your question, I have no idea how the first one happened. At a regular medical appointment I mentioned the pain in my back; I was sent for an x ray and it showed the fractures. The second time , while in the car snd we hit a bump , suddenly I had the same pain do I knew what happened. Again, an x ray showed fractures in the same area. There is no specific treatment, allow it to heal. One note, this is important, a Physiatrist ( Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation ) who is a Yoga master, and has a program of Yoga for Osteoporosis: when bending forward hinge from the hips, DO NOT round the back and come up vertebra by vertebra that can cause fractures. He advises anyone over 60 to follow this advice because we do know if we have Osteo of the spine until we experience a fracture. BTW his name is Dr. Loren Fishman in New York City. Although I no longer live in NYC, I still return to see him, in my opinion, he is a master..
All I can say, is Prolia was a horrible drug for me and I wish I had never had the first shot. Horrible side effects, Poison for me!!!
Re: Gloria (# 3027)
I advise everyone against taking this drug.
Re: Lynne (# 3)
I got my 1st Prolia shot 3 weeks ago. It will also be my last shot. I have severe nausea, dizziness, fatigue, insomnia and more. My bone density is -3.6. I was told I had to do this and side effects were really nothing to worry about. I went to 5 doctors and was told by all not to worry. I am worrying now. I wish I found this site before I got the injection. Every site I went to said this is a good thing. I strongly disagree!!

I have been on Actonel for over 2 years with no apparent problems, after a nightmarish experience with Prolia. I'm due soon for a bone density scan and hoping for a good result.
How is your experience of Actonel?
