I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

I just had my entire uppers pulled last Thursday and it will be sometime before I have the implants, then 4 months until he put the teeth in. I am miserable and can't eat because my gums are so sore. I am so mad at the drug company that made Prolia.

Don't let any doctor tell you that the rash is not from Prolia. I had excema when I was a child and had never had it anymore until Prolia. I now have several rashes along with the excema. It was caused by taking the Prolia shot and I quit taking it and I am suffering occassionaly with rashes and excema and It has been 2 years since I had my last shot. This stuff is dangerous and I will never take it again.

The current shingles vaccine is recommended for people 50 years old and older. It does seem to lose some strength when we reach 70. They are working on another one that will cover more than the current 90% and will not weaken over time. And, yes, one should never get a vaccine while being on Prolia. That would be a huge mistake. I even did not take my flu shot after coming off of Prolia even though I was sure I was clear. I did not want to complicate anything.

Well, the only consolation I get is knowing that others are also experiencing a lot of the same side effects as I am. At least I know it's not all fabricated in my mind. As I mentioned, I have a rotator cuff tear in my right shoulder. I had the MRI and just saw the surgeon on Friday. The tear is in an area that can't be sewn as it too large and not where the shoulder joint is. He said the stitches wouldn't hold. I'm devastated as I now will have this the rest of my life. I sometimes feel that when you hit your 70 s the doctors just figure your life is almost over and we're like old horses put out to pasture to spend the rest of our days. Physio is the only thing he said would help. I'm seriously thinking of medical marijuana . It is legal in Canada and I just have to be approved by a doctor if I can find one who deals in this. On top of all of this , my husband who is recovering from a hernia operation and has also had 2 strokes due to atrial fib , had a seizure while I was seeing the surgeon. Very scary and now he has to see a neurologist. The surgeon did give me an injection of a non- steroid but so far it hasn't worked. At the moment I am overwhelmed with everything and am losing hope that there will ever be an end . It will be a year in July since my last shot of Prolia. And no,Poodle, I got the shots in my left arm. I could handle it better if it was that shoulder as I'm right handed. Even typing this pains me. Also my front tooth that had an infection is not aching so like all the rest of you I'll probably lose it and have to have an implant. In the meantime I'll look like the wicked witch of wherever! So much for my "golden " years.

Well, I'm laying in the ER awaiting a doctor. I had my third Prolia shot 2 days ago and the same exact symptoms, I can not breathe , my neck feels like it's holding a 150 pound head up ! It's so painful and my body , oh Lord it hurts so bad :(
I have been getting hives for about as long as I've been taking Prolia and of course I've went to 100 docs with all these complaints over the last 1.5 years , always attributed to something else ...
Now, I am definite , it's Prolia , oh Lord please get this out of my body..
I can't think, serious confusion , and body pain off the charts !
I have been to several dentist in the last 1.5 yrs asking, do you think I have bone cancer ? My gums hurt so bad ?
Always answered no , and told take ibuprofen it will get better :((
I can't express how I hurt as I'm laying here waiting to see an ER doc
I'll NEVER take another Prolia shot!
Also I'm 57 female, 5' 7", 120 pounds and have always walked for exercise , can't now, pain is incredible . I took Forteo everyday intravenously for 2 yrs , had bone pain or back and neck pain .
But this is the worst pain ever :(
I forgot to add, I have severe Osteoporosis , reason for all the bone medications.

I am in touch with attorney that is reviewing my case right now. Will let you know how it goes. This is horrific what is happening to us. Big pharma is responsible for pushing drugs out and they don't care about the costs to humans who suffer. FDA also. Get your report sent back to the FDA as soon as possible there is one in your state. I did. Make a paper trail of what's going on and all your reactions dr appointments. Very important to have for an attorney.

Goat C~if you can eat large meals, take a supplement of all B vitamins, Vitamin A and Saw Palmetto for women. It should get the hair happy again. When I took my B's it had been maybe an hour after breakfast and I got quite ill and threw them up and then felt okay again. When it says with meals they mean with meals and as much as possible. I've been a little reluctant to try again since I am Celiac and don't like the food very well. There is also a published paper about Prolia by three MD's who stated that a male had one injection of Prolia and against his genetics developed A. Alopecia. We need to have our scalps checked by a Dermatologist to make sure hair can grow again meaning hair follicles are not closed tight shut. it will take me approximately six+ months to get an appointment with a Dermatologist here. This could be a very serious problem for all of us who are shedding a lot of hair. It goes beyond what one normally loses getting older. Sorry about the bad news. It affects me too~Pood

These are the side effects the prolia shot. I haven't had bleeding. I have all the others plus hair loss. I really don't know when it ends i had my shot in July of 2017 and it was my first. I will take no more. Hope you have filed a safety report with Amgen and the FDA. I have the more who do the less might be harmed by this awful drug.

I had my first and last shot Aug 25 2017..I'm a 58 y.o woman who now has terrible acid reflux, nausea, headaches, backaches from prolia. The injection gave me jaw bone soreness that did go away. .however who knows what that may have caused. This is the worst medication I have ever been on. Shame on these doctors and pharmaceutical companies for jeopardizing patients with snake oil!!.. all about the money!!

Haven't found any. Only pain management. Sorry for your mom's experience. So many of us have been affected by this drug. The FDA should do something about it. Drs do not tell you the truth and then you end up suffering. I will never take another dose.

I am do sorry that this is happening to your mother and to you.

I wish I had a magic wand, but I don't.

Bone broth is especially healing, perhaps that can improve her strength.

If there is a Feldenkrais practitioner near you, that is a modality that might help her ability to move.

I can tell you that my last shot was in January, and it was the end of August, beginning of Sept. when I began to feel better; though not 100%.

If your Mom is capable, gentle chair exercises like chair Yoga might be helpful. This is what I have been doing to regain my strength. For me, the most gentle one was by Jodi Stolove.

I continue to be amazed at the multiple side effects of Prolia affecting so many. The misery and the fact in some cases where the symptoms are irreversible seem criminal to me due to pharmaceutical greed. Definitely all about the money, without conscience, once the pharmaceutical firms have been made aware of documented issues.

My doctor's office called today with a reminder that it was time to schedule my injection. I declined, saying never again. I had 2 in 2015, only one 1 in 2016 (because I was hospitalized) then resumed, 1 in May 2017, by July my symptoms began to reappear with no other explanation than my recent injection. All other testing suggested by doctors looking for other causes were negative. I experienced several of the listed side effects in 2016, the most serious were the weight loss (a 5th of my total body weight), extreme weakness where I literally could not function on a daily basis (I was on FMLA for 2 mos, November & December 2016). Also the concern of loosening teeth.

I would offer caution to those considering dental implants. My daughter had 4 molar implants at 28 yrs due to loss of teeth from other health issues (anorexia/bulimia as a teen). The incision never healed properly resulting in constant infection, which affected her overall health for years. The original dentist would not remove them and it was 4 yrs before she found a dentist that would. A real nightmare. I urge those considering implants to do extensive research prior as not everyone is a candidate for dental implants.

This forum is certainly a service and very beneficial to those willing to share their experience. My heart goes out to all those suffering.

Beaty I want to give you a big hug... your story sounds as bad as mine side effect wise... also I was 58 and some osteopenia with broken toes and a write few years before falling on ice... my symptoms have gone from worse to worser to a tiny bit better each day/week/month/year. I am almost 2 years post Prolia now. In addition, my autoimmune system was turned upside down. Anything muscular or bone or mouth or dietary or fatigue or pain related that could go wrong did. I also seem to cycle through side effects which flare up... it has been a lost 2 years but now I am finding hope again...

I had my first and only Prolia injection on the 30th of March, 2017. Four days later I was at the Emergency Dept. of a local hospital here (Im in Canada). I had an autoimmune response that included severe erythema lesions on my legs, my feet and my elbows. The pain was unbearable and I could not walk. My husband had to take me to the hospital in a wheelchair. Nobody at the hospital (and I saw three different MD´s) wanted to write the word "Prolia" in my file. The three of them told me that it could have been "anything"... I asked them to write it at least as a hypothesis... When about a month later I requested a copy of my file, the reference to this poison was nowhere written. Three weeks after the injection, I had lost 20 pounds and was loosing my hair, my heart was racing all day and was suffering from extreme fatigue. At that point I went to see my GP who had prescribed this poison and told him what I thought. He told me he had “many, many patients on Prolia and nobody had had any side effects”. What I found quite curious is that the Dr. had kept a list with the names of all the patients he had prescribed Prolia to. He showed me the list emphasizing that I was the only one who had had these reactions. I told him that I thought I was “lucky enough” to have had these reactions immediately after the first shot. I realize many have had several injections before they have a severe reaction. I bet there are many out there who have had reactions they do not associate to this poison because these reactions did not happen immediately after the first shot. I had cancer five years ago and I realize that my Dr. should have never given me Prolia (now that I understand how these monoclonal antibodies type of drugs work with regards to your immune system). When I had cancer in 2010, I did not want to have chemo. I chose to do immunotherapy. The goal was to increase my T-killer cell count and strengthen my immune system. I won that battle and after my 5th year post-cancer, I was not only cancer free but healthier than ever. My skin, my hair,, my mood, and my whole health was never better. I went back to my gym 5 days a week, had a perfect weight and when I turned 60 early this year, nobody could believe my age. I had then the bad idea of listening to my GP when he suggested that I underwent a densitometry and later insisted I should use Prolia. I must have been in my 10 most stupid minutes when I accepted this poison without having done my own research, as I did when I was diagnosed with cancer. When I understood how Prolia works, I cried for days, realizing that I had been given a drug that is used as chemotherapy and that also causes your T-cell count to go down and go totally crazy. In addition, In order to get rid of the erythema on my body, I had to be treated with Prednisone, a corticosteroid that leaves you immune-depressed… I was living a total nightmare. Despite the nightmare, in the middle of July I was feeling slightly better and had partially recovered my weight. I travelled to South America and shortly before my trip I felt that the whole cycle was beginning again. But I had my ticket and still felt well enough to travel. Shortly after my arrival, I was having palpitations, was feeling extremely tired and my hands were shaky… I had to urgently see a Dr. who immediately diagnosed me with hyperthyroidism. I was put on two medications and only started to feel better and regain my weight about two weeks later. In the month of September, when I the thyroid medication had already been reduced and I was feeling quite well again, we were celebrating my daughter`s B-day when everyone noticed my eyes were swollen. I have seen at least three Ophthalmologists since. Non of them seemed to care about my story. I have been told that having swollen eyelids happens with age (LOL), that I need artificial tear drops because my eyes are too dry, etc….
Fortunately I have been in touch with the Endocrinologist I saw in South America. He believes that I have Graves Ophtalmopathy, probably as part of the whole autoimmune response to Prolia and that unfortunately this tends to run parallel to the thyroid disorder. In other words, it may not automatically correct itself even if the thyroid is well controlled. He believes it is imperative that I am treated with Corticosteroids to prevent the eyes from popping out … which has not yet happened as only my eye lids are now severely swollen but the eye globes seem to still be contained... I`m desperately trying to find a reasonable Dr. who would put me on Prednisone or another immune-suppressor, as I realize I have no other option. It is not only a horrible condition aesthetically speaking, but is also causing vision problems as I have diplopia and photophobia….

Please, I need to know if anyone in this group has had the ophthalmic problem associated with the thyroiditis following the use of Prolia. Also, could you please share the name of the medication that has been given to you for this and the actual amount?

October 30th was the 6th month anniversary since my life was transformed by this horrible “medication”. I look like 10 years older than 6 months ago. My beautiful hair is falling, as I have only seen in cancer patients who are undergoing chemo.

I agree fully with those of you who have said this drug works in cycles…. That is what I have experienced. I currently am again experiencing fatigue, insomnia, and strange ‘migratory’ pain in the bones, even though I had a couple of pretty good months between July and September.

Lately, my spine makes strange noises when I move and I have the feeling that I`m extremely fragile. My nails, which had become very nice and strong in the first few months after Prolia, have again become extremely fragile and brittle. My skin goes through periods of being nice and soft and days or weeks of being rough, ugly and dry.

I never thought 2017 would be so horrible for me because of this drug. I retired from my permanent job two years ago and was beginning a new and very successful cycle as a self-employed professional. I have hardly been able to work since March. I feel we have been used for a clinical trial without our consent. If you look at AMGEN website, you will see that the list of negative side effects for this drug is continuously being updated…. Isn’t that a proof that they had not fully researched what they had put in the market? I hope we are at least compensated for the objective losses that we have incurred because of this killer drug.

Yes. IT should not be in the market. My friend's dad had only one shot and suffered horrible side effects including a growth in this intestine. Died within 3 months.

Re: JenjiOz (# 2301) Expand Referenced Message

It definitely is. After one year since my last shot, my side effects are subsiding.

I too suffered rashes along with painful, swollen joints, weight gain, and a host of other issues. The only Dr. who listened was the Dermatologist. He ordered a CRP ( a measure of inflammation ), this proved my point about what Prolia was doing to me.My entire body was inflamed. My symptoms are subsiding, although some joints are permanently enlarged. My last shot was 15 months ago. I tell anyone who will listen about the harmful effects.

Hello, I had my first Prolia injection in July 2017 & begin having extreme pain in legs, then begin having pain in hands & lead to trigger fingers in both thumbs; I discussed with my Family MD that ordered Prolia about side effects which was told that these pains were not due to Prolia? I was due for a second injection in January 2018, but I cancelled. I still have pain in my right leg, but better. Hope this helps others before taking injections.

No one will tell you about any side effects Gloria which makes me so suspicious that these guys are getting very generous kickbacks from these Pharmas. This poison keeps us so ill that we keep going back to these guys
