Prolia Side Effects (Page 117) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.
Now i am 14 days pregnancy.i have one child.now he is 5 month.my 1st delivery is sisser.now i wat doing?
Re: Question if I was informed by doctor: Was not told could be adverse side effects. And he denied all the side effects that took place within a week and progressed on, saying they were not related to Prolia and I needed to continue. My own research confirmed I was one of the ones that could not take it. It has been a long road recovering, and still have skin issues, and though I'm coming back, energy and strength will take a while to get where I would like to be, I think.
sri~you had better get your OBGYN to look at this Forum because one is to NEVER have Prolia when pregnant. I have no idea what damage it will do to your baby to come if you even get to carry it to full term. Hope you have a great husband to help you with the other one. Be well~Pood
Linda~with hypoglycemia your body is trying to go into Type 2 diabetes. You need a lot of sugar - drink a Coke or Pepsi, have some spoon fulls of honey. Get sugar in your body and get a lot of it every day. That will help get your glucose levels up so you don't slip into full blown diabetes because that is a very nasty disease with daily injections. Search the net for 'home remedies for hypoglycemia' and do them! Good luck and be well~
Prolea- stress fractures , both feet, same place. Four years of use, no injury just happened 2 weeks apart. Endo doctor says should not happen, has never seen problem before. Any one else with this problem.
prolia injection 3 months ago.
I am forgetful. Now I must write what meal I prepared or the next day I will have
forgotten what we ate. Memory loss was never a problem before Prolia injection
three months ago.
I have to agree with you it depleted my immune system. I was sick all the time. Once I went off of it after 6 months I stopped being so sick. I still get a rash here and there.
Karen~look in the back pages here. You are not the first nor will you be the last. With some people it seems to be the 'nature of the beast'. Be well~Pood
Hey there old friend~I think that is what all of them say. Cannot be the Prolia so it has to be us. Geez!!!!!
Hope you are doing much better. I've done a few paintings since we last 'talked'.
Hugs~Pood
Cookie~out of myriad MD's I only had one that had a clue and he told me to be very careful as my immune system has been highly compromised. One out of 5 is not a very good number. I was just told how wonderful it is and I have never had a problem with any patient. I AM THAT PROBLEM. Pood
Judy, I had Prolia in first week of April. By the beginning of November I was trusting my immune system enough to get on a plane and fly to another city to have the cataract removed that I got from Prolia and get a nice new lens put in.. It all went well so in the middle of November I scheduled my total hip replacement surgery and did well too so I would say my immune system was fully back by the first week of November of that same year. There are other people here that have not been that lucky tho. I also had a heck of a lot of help from my rheumatologist who works with an immunologist so that may be why I got well faster. They were both on top of everything. I was only denied one test I wanted and that was to have my T cells and T cell helpers measured. She said we cannot do that without a high suspicion of AIDS. Otherwise, they did everything humanly possible to help heal me from that horrid poison. Pood
Jan~it's best if one can take their calcium with orange juice, lemonade or limeade. Those acids will make the calcium go to your bones. Hopefully you can have them now that you are on Ranatine. I also think it is the best and use it occasionally myself. Pood
Linda~my brother just had an implant today and it was from a DDS, not one of the Maxofacial Specialists and it cost $1,000 less than the specialists so I would look around a little if I were you. $1000 is a lot of money and a big difference, especially when you are looking at more than one. I know for sure my dentist does not do them. I don't know where you live, but if you can cross the border into Mexico they have fabulous dentists that do the implants for a whole lot less than in the US. A lot of people go down to them.
I have one implant and need four more. My regular is going to give me an estimate on my next visit. My first one was $3,000. Ugh!
There is also something none of us have received and it is totally our Doctor's fault. Amgen, manufacturer of Prolia, has a 'Dear Patient' letter that tells us more of the bad things that can happen with Prolia. Mine had never heard of it so I told her if you are going to pass this off to your patients, you darn well better get it. Amgen wrote it for a purpose. Pood
Poodle, re the "dear patient" letter you mentioned, what exactly was said in it, or did you actually see it? I have been told by 2 doctors that the side effects I'm experiencing are all caused by stress, etc. Yes, I have had stress dealing with my husband's 2 strokes and an ablation for his AFib but that was 3-4 years ago and he is doing well. Even a friend of mine who has had no problems with Prolia said that when she mentioned my problems to her Dr she was told that they were probably not caused by Prolia. Just a coincidence they said! Almost seems like a conspiracy to pooh-pooh the fact that side effects don't exist. I do know that these drug companies pay big bucks to the government as well as hospitals and doctors who administer it. I was in sales and marketing with a large multi-national food company so I know how this all works. If there is some way I could read this letter I'd love to see it. I did talk to the company consultant and he certainly didn't discount what I was experiencing.
Oh yeah, there is one other rather embarrassing thing I've also experienced while on Prolia....on top of the eczema all over my arms, legs back and chest I have anal fissures which are very painful. Since it is skin I figure it must be included as a skin irritation. Have tried many over the counter things, zinc ointment, vasoline and hemorrhoid cream but so far nothing works. Any suggestions?
Pood, I would love to get my hands on this letter. Is it available online? It's been a week past when I should have received my 4th injection and am still experiencing side effects. Achy muscles, itchy rashes and sores in mouth. Sure they tell you what side effects you may get but nothing about them going away once you stop!
Judy, I saw it on Amgen's website under Prolia. It said we are supposed to receive it from our Docs when we get the injection(s). Now whether or not it's still there I cannot say as I have not looked. Amgen only followed people in their human studies for 11 months so they have no knowledge other than what we give them that happens after 11 months. This is why it is vitally important to report every single thing to them as they are required by law to give it to the body of your country's government that approves drugs for use on humans.
Poodle, I found a letter online dated Sept 20,2012 from Amgen addressed to Healthcare providers with the subject heading "serious risks associated with the use of Prolia" . It goes on to mention all the adverse reactions. It also refers to an accompanying Medication Guide. It does suggest that it should be reviewed with each patient every time Prolia is administered as the information contained may change over time. It is signed by Michael Severino MD ,senior VP, Global Developement and Chief Medical Officer. I don't know if the same letter was sent out to Canadian doctors but I can't see any reason it shouldn't have been! Certainly I feel vindicated after having it suggested that it was stress causing these horrible side effects. They are what was causing my stress!!
