Phentermine Anyone Have Strange Side Effects? (Page 2)
(Newest replies first)

I just started taking this medicine for weight loss. I am having hot flashes and cold chills, terrible headache and a tingly head. I feel awful. Has anybody taken this and had the same reaction? If so did it pass after a few days? Gotta say this...I am not ever hungry! Like to hear from anyone that has taken this med. Thanks :)
Re: J (# 15)
I’m experiencing the same side effect on day 1. Did you ever find out if it was just a normal side effect?
Re: J (# 15)
I have just Started Phentermine and I am also having semen leakage after urination which had never occurred until I started taking this med. Does it go away or stay with you while your on it.
Has anyone ever used the following combination of drugs and are there serious, possibly lethal side effects with them? One Adderall IR (Teva) 30 mg, Phentermine 37.5 about an hour later, Lisinopril/HCTZ 20/12.5, one Metformin 500 mg.
Re: J (# 15)
I've been taking between 15mg and 30mg three days a week for a month now and I'm having involuntary semen discharge. If I haven't climaxed for a couple days the volume of semen is quite a lot. This happens when flaccid. Is this a common side effect? I can't find it on Mayo or Wedmd. Thx.
I started phen on may 14th . On yesterday sunday the 27th I had the scare of my life. Before this day I had little to no side affects. I was talking to my boyfriend and it went down from there. I couldn't catch my breath, when i got up i was so dizzy. I went to the emergency room right away. My heart rate was super high. It kept going down and up. The highest it got was 176. Of course my anxiety from not knowing what was going on made this 10x worse. There is no words I could say to describe how my body felt. Its like I had every side affect there was in such a short time frame. I was scared for my life. Last night I slept but my anxiety was really bad which caused me not to get good sleep and to keep waking up scared something was happening. Im so glad I found this thread to see that Im not alone. I do feel like I've loss weight but I have weighed myself but my clothes fit differently so I know it was some progress. Right now im still jittery but Im just waiting on this stuff to get out of my system because it definitely NOT worth the horrible feeling I had. Horrible. I can do it without the pill because honeslty you still have to have self control while taking it. They say never say never but NEVERRRR again. Like the old saying goes " different strokes for different folks" this is most certainly not mine. I'd rather do it the right way and keep my peace of mind. Be careful and listen to your body.
Re: Deana (# 184)
I have been doing the same thing. Why is that? It feels like my teeth have plaque on them nonstop.
Re: Jojo (# 327)
Hi there, how's weight loss going? Could you tell me please where you got your generic phentermine filled? Thanks.
I just started a week ago. Its been helping me. Eating less I have energy and no side affects. Definately consult your doctor so he can change your doze or give you a new med.
Re: Angie (# 326)
Google up weight loss clinic. Or weight medic clinics. They will prescribe it, but it's too much for my budget. I personally prefer generic. Not planning to take this more than 3 months max. I am 190lbs with low blood pressure, hoping to kick start my weight loss journey.
I asked my Dr if I could start taking them. I even spelled it to him, but he said never heard off it and couldn't find them on his computer, so please someone please give some HELP, of where I can get a prescription for these from. I live in South East Kent (Dover). Thank you.
Re: Sheri C (# 324)
Im so sorry about all you went through. Thank you for your sharing and I appreciated a lot your advices. I have an appointment with my family doctor to see he can recommend.another treatment. I already stopped the pills but still the side effects like wiggling the tongue to the left side. Question, That doesn't will go away?? Thanks
Re: Rose (# 320)
I strongly suggest getting away from Phentermine. I took it off and on from 2005 to 2007. I thought it was amazing. I dropped weight quickly (180 down to 129 in less than 6 months) and continued to use it to manage weight until 2007. It stopped working effectively and i couldn’t handle the side effects. Grinding my teeth, twitching nerves in my face, leg cramps and severe joint and lower back pain. I work out about 4xs a week and eat fairly healthy. My vices are carbs and coffee. I started putting weight back on in 2008. Approximately 8- 10 lbs a year. I have been fluctuating between 165 and 175 for 4 years. BUT, my bones and joints hurt. It has been progressive and getting worse. I had been taking 800 to 1200 mg of ibuprofen until two months ago. I went to a rheumatologist to see if it’s arthritis. I’m only 44 but have family history of RA. I tested negative. I am the epitome of health according to bloodwork and X-rays. Started taking anti inflammatory med two months ago. It helped for a while, but I’m back to hurting. My feet, hands, hip, neck, lower back. I wake up in so much pain it’s hard to get up. I began reading about joint pain and Phentermine. I’m going to talk to the Dr. but believe that 10 years later, my pain is caused by this medication. It’s not worth the hurt.
Re: Deana (# 184)
Hi, I've been taking Phentermine on and off for 3 years and...Yes!!! I do the same thing, I cannot stop sucking my tongue on the back of my teeth, it's awful as I catch myself doing it constantly and don't even know I'm doing it! I also believe I'm doing it when I'm asleep bc I wake up with a horrible sore tongue. When I'm not taking Phentermine I have noticed I still continue this habit but it's not as often. I find getting in an uncomfortable or stressful situation it causes me to suck and pucker my lips even harder and more. I am glad I'm not the only one that has this side effect.
Re: Stacie (# 321)
I decided to just take the hair pill of 37.5mg, and skip a month. Do you have suggestions?? Should I talk to the doctor to change it for other that works like this one. Please any suggestions??
Re: Rose (# 320)
I would find a way to deal with it and make it so I didn’t hurt my teeth because as far as I know phen is the best stuff out there and it shouldn’t take you to long to drop 60lbs on it?? that’s just my opinion but I watched my son drop 70lbs in 1 1/2 mo. And not workout just eat right of course now he is working out! I went from 150lbs- 125lbs in 3mo and my blood pressure is almost normal again ?? well worth it and no more cholesterol medication for me?? Good luck to you!
Hi, I'm 49 years old. I started 37.5mg 9 months ago. I lost 30 pounds, but I started gaining back again. I had took a month break to see my side effects stop a little bit. I have some nervous problem like some strange involuntarily movements in my tongue and grinding to much. I just went to the orthodontist to make me a root canal, hurting too much my teeth. The nervous problems started 4 months ago. Also some kind of lack of body coordination, very dry mouth, and change in my taste. So weird things that I never had before. I have good blood pressure. No diabetes. Another thing that I started recently is, chewing a lot if gumballs for about 2 months. I have a lot of questions. Does the nervous problems will go away?? Or stay forever?? Suggestions please?? I need to keep losing weight, at least 60 more pounds, just the pill controls my cravings. Should I ask the doctor to change it for other?? Thank you
Re: Dusty (# 318)
Hi there. Where did you get your prescription filled, please?
It will pass. May take as much as a complete cycle (3 months). Been on it a year (3 months on/1 month off). No effects at all anymore. Lost over 60lbs.
I am having hot flashes. Only been on med for 2 days
