I recently had a UTI and was given Bactrim for three days and felt better. It's been almost a week and I suddenly have the symptoms back long with lower back pain. Seeing that it is almost 7:30 pm on a Sunday, I will have to wait until tomorrow morning to call and go in and see the doctor. The doctor was pleased that I stopped taking Phenazopyridine two days before going in for the urine culture to detect the UTI. Will Phenazopyridine interfere with diagnostics for a kidney infection? I would love to be able to relieve some of my symptoms before morning, but I will not if it means they will not get the proper results for the diagnostics they need. ## The only warning I've found on anything like this has to do with it interfering with urinary diagnostics for diabetics, although y...

Hi all, I’ve run out of Codeine which I take for pain. Can I take Tramadol until my new prescription arrives? ## Technically, this can be done, but you should only do it, if your doctor feels it is safe for you. The FDA warns that Tramadol, and Codeine carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Ref: Tramadol Information Are you on any other medications?

I have arthritis in almost every joint in my body. I have narrowing of the vertebrae, leg and feet neuropathy, knees are bone on bone. Plus other medical conditions. I take Norco 5/325 (3 times a day). What medicine do you think I should be taking? I can't take Aspirin because I have cirrhosis of the liver and Hepatitis B. Any suggestions? ## Norco is an effective analgesic that is often prescribed to treat conditions that cause pain, such as those you've mentioned. How is your current dose working for you? The FDA does warn that Norco carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Ref: Norco Information If it isn't handling your pain, then you should speak to your doctor, as you may need...

On Tuesday night I was in a lot of pain and unable to sleep. I took too much of my oramorph. I was really disoriented and vomited. I slept all day yesterday and last night. Today I still feel really sleepy. My family will be angry with me if they knew. I'm bit in any danger am I? ## Oh dear last night I had same problem I suffer from piriformis and couldn't sleep , so rather than measuring out the morphine I took mouthful from the bottle, I've been sick can find no energy and slept all day so far ..i have sought medical advice I'm just about ok ..made me think twice about what I take I've ditched the morphine and feeling rather stupid ## Life threatening danger would have occurred with the first few hours after taking too much, but you should still inform your doctor...

I have been on 15mg Targin every 12 hours for nearly 4 years. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and suffer with pain daily. The Targin has worked well, but on two separate occasions, I dropped the tablet without knowing. The second time was yesterday. I was feeling pain, I was stuffed up in the head, nauseous, had a runny nose, etc. I didn't know what was wrong until I found the dropped tablet. I realized that these were signs of dependence and although I have never gotten anything but pain relief, no euphoria or buzzes or whatever they are called, I am pretty sure this counts as an addiction. I was so careful to rarely use my 5mg Endone for breakthrough pain, taking paracetamol first, etc... What would be the easiest way to get off these tablets? Would having one Targin in the morning ...

I found a white oval pill marked with 15 on one side and RP with a line between the R and P on the other side. Is it an oxycodone 15 mg?? ## Hello, Sarah! How are you? Yes, this tablet is manufactured by Rhodes Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 15mgs of Oxycodone in a regular release formulation. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Seems like no one has either heard of this brands oxycodone or that it's mostly sold overseas. Being sold overseas would make GREAT SENSE, as this very large & football shaped pill is rock hard & I must say take it at least 45...

Hello. I take 1 pill every 6 hrs and I am still having a lot of pain in my elbows, in my back and hips. Should my Dr. up my dosage? ## Hello, Sharon! How are you? It is entirely up to your doctor. They could make your dosing more frequent, such as every 4 hours, or they could prescribe a higher dose of the Oxycodone by itself, they may also possibly prescribe an entirely different medication. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. How severe is the pain? Have you informed your doctor, yet? ## The hydrocodone and oxycodone generics (what’s left that they DO make) are pure s***! May work a little for 30 mins but is 20% filler...

Following a night where I consumed approximately five tequila shots, I'm now dealing with a hangover as well as acute pain in my recently operated foot. Is it possible I could manage the discomfort by taking an oxycodone? ## Dear Ms. Mona, I would be extremely careful drinking when on narcotics. The symptoms come on suddenly with almost no warning. Drinking and narcotics at the same time can cause anyone to have severe breathing trouble, so severe it can be deadly. Also, it can make anyone very lethargic and start to put off daily tasks until stopping them completely... These two tragedies I personally experienced. Sincerely, K. See ## I didn't take it. I was too afraid. I'll just wait a couple more days before I decide to take anything for pain. Thank you though. ## However...

I need to get off of Fentanyl but can't find any help. Where can I get some help for withdrawal on Fentanyl patches in the Atlanta Georgia area? ## Faye, if you still need help, get a doctor to prescribe you tramadol. I cold turkeyed off fentanyl over 6 months ago, and my doctor told me afterward that if I needed it, he would have given me tramadol. My withdrawal wasn't too bad, just a little insomnia. I was only on 100 MG fentanyl patches every 48 hours for 2 years. But my doctor said tramadol is the best thing to withdraw from opium-based drugs. ## Faye, it would be best to consult your doctor, they can help you set up a safe, and tolerable tapering schedule to help you stop using the Fentanyl. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming, and may...

What is the side effect with this drug besides the fact that it is addicting? ## I was recently prescribed this medication for a spinal cord condition and I haven't taken it yet. I'm afraid to. If it's not a narcotic medication, why so many warnings and why is it addicting? ## I don't know about the narcotic of it, but I DO know my husband has been taking it for a couple years for his back pain. He didn't seem to be addicted, but it didn't help his pain much for starters anyway. Secondly, he was taking 150mg at one time, which you shouldn't take over 100mg at a time. Then, because he has a history of hepatitis (the one that goes away, don't remember which one that is A,B,C,D or E). Anyway, he had to stop taking it because it caused spots on his liver, and...

I've got a small yellow pill with only a capital L on one side and it's engraved (not black print) and its really small like a roxi. I've seen people say aspirin but it's way smaller than any aspirin I've ever seen myself or online...SO ITS NOT ASPIRIN....please help ## Did you ever figure out what it was? I can't find it any where. ## My research also leads to the same dead ends, leaving aspirin as the one and only pill listed here online that fits this type of description (despite the engraved L being different). Here's my thought - Maybe aspirin is both the engraved version as well as the black inked version? I don't know how small baby aspirin is, but a lab analysis may be the only way to know for certain what it really contains... Where did you get i...

The pills are smaller than an aspirin, light to medium blue, has a crease on one side and GP on the other. Any ideas on what this could be? ## Rumor has it in other related threads that this blue triangular pill imprinted with GP on one side is an anti-estrogen steroid by the name of Arimidex (Anastrozole). The manufacturer is known as Geneza Pharmaceuticals (hence the 'GP'). Oddly enough for a steroid, Anastrozole is also touted for use in treating certain types of breast cancer. While my finding is speculative, I haven't come across any other specific details hinting at another possibility outside of Arimidex... Viagra has the same shape and color, but no GP marking, at least to my knowledge. Hope this helps! ## Yes you are absolutely correct. I buy and use them personally...

Can Excedrin P.M. cause bad dreams? ## That is a side effect that's known to occur with most all medications. Other side effects of Excedrin PM may include grogginess, dry mouth, and dizziness. However, these is no way to say for sure that the Excedrin PM caused it, since everyone has nightmares, at least once in awhile. Are there any known negative reactions to taking OTC, Instaflex and Legtrin, within the same 24 hour period? Also, is there a potential for negative reactions taking OTC Andrew Lessman's Nail-Skin-Hair, and his MSM 500 with Sulfate, along with Instaflex within the same 24 hour time frame? Thank you. ## No studies have been done on non-medicinal supplements and their possible side effects, but some potent ones have been known to cause nausea in some people, according to user reports. The Legatrin PM contains Acetaminophen, and Diphenhydramine, and some of its side effects may include nausea, dizziness, stomach irritation, and sedation. I gave the lady I take care of .5ml of morphine while her nurse was there because she was in pain from being moved so much (she cant move on her own) and her daughter is accusing me almost two weeks later of "drugging" her because she had become really tired and hadnt been eating much (she was refusing and turning her head away). I was curious about how long that much would have effected her? ## No, while it may last a bit longer than usual in elderly people, since their bodies sometimes process medications slowly, it would not last almost 2 weeks. As a matter of fact, this Research Article shows that the processing of Morphine is not affected by being elderly, so a dose for her shouldn't last any longer than it does for a younger, healthy person. Is she on any other medicat...
