Pain Management Doctors In Arkansas Who Have Own Office That Takes Medicaid (Page 2) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI have taken methadone for about 9 yrs. and other pain medicines before that. I have chronic pain post polio syndrome, Degenerative arthritis, Degenerative disc. in back due to severe Scoliosis. New laws passed , so my Doctor stopped doing pain management, not sure why. The pain management clinics are expensive and they do not take medicaid. I need a Doctor for pain management that can prescribe pain medication, but who takes medicaid patients. The Disable and poor are out of luck now. Need Doctor from south Arkansas
I too am suffering the exact same medical problems as you are. I have degenerative disc disease and sciatica in both legs. I have only medicaid as insurance and would be grateful if you could let me know if you find a doctor that is willing to help. I share your frustration with "the system" and I will do the same for you. Today I found a web page called rxchat.com and under the heading" Doctors who will prescribe pain medicine in arkansas". It has a list of doctors in the Little Rock area that will prescribe pain meds, but I'm not sure if they accept medicaid. I am going to check out and you may want to do the same. Good luck.
I don't believe they do much narcotic pain treatment, they all want to do inj's, and epidural steroid inj's. are NOT FDA approved. Would NOT do one of these, they may have helped some but have heard way more horror stories than good outcomes. So please do your research first. Check youtube, they have several on the subject.
I am in Little Rock, Arkansas and in serious need of a REAL pain management doctor, and not one that just want to inj. me with everything they can, I'm allergic to steroids, and NSAIDS, have been to three so call pain management places and none will help. I have three bulging disks in lower back, with arthritis, fibromyalgia, and FAI (femoral asatubular impingement) I have the cam impingement and can not find anyone willing to treat me. I was also diagnosed with iliopsoas tendonitis and tracantric bursitis in both hips as well as arthritis because of the FAI and I'm only 39. I feel so hopeless and just want to give up, but I can not spend the rest of my live walking with a cane on good days and a walker the rest of the time, and that's only if I am actually able to get out of bed. Please someone help :'-( I don't know what to do And can't get steroid inj's. like most, unless I want to end up in the hospital on a ventilator... any help would be so grateful and greatly appreciated. Thank you.
That Dr took me off my med I have a broke back
Painfully ignored , saying that a drug makes you sick and/or no longer works is common drug seeking behavior.
nancy, it is possible that your back has healed to the point that the medical evidence no longer indicates that strong pain meds are needed. Did you break any of the rules ?
Dr Brown prescribes pain meds he prescribes whatever u want I saw him for 6 years good Dr but his staff is rude and the nurses are the boss they will fire u if u look at them wrong...I just felt they ran the office as be is really quite
BL,
I am currently Director of Rehab,.a CRTS/ATP, Rt. CRRN, CCRN. It is United Healthcare/Medicaid/Medicare issuing the edicts to physicians!! The Plan D insurances are likewise. They are requiring Pharmacists to call physicians to recommend alternatives to medications some of my CP and MS clients have been taking for years! In speaking with their physicians, I am told the DEA has a list to monitor and WILL take their DEA license unless improvement is furnished. I have one poor gentleman with CP that is like a pretzel, he is so affected from poor seating and mobility/sleeping equipment, lack of access for PT and tonic + clonic muscle spasms. He has been on Lortab 7.5/325 mg and a muscle relaxant (Soma) for decades! He is NEVER going to improve and has chronic pain. His physician told him he could only give him 3 days worth and refer him to a pain management clinic for his pain meds. This was on a FRIDAY!! He went COLD TURKEY with NOTHING for 2 weeks!! This is a very sad situation when people with genetic and traumatic physiologic problems can not get treated because they are on Medicaid!!! There are FEDERAL laws protecting them from discrimination!! There has to be something that can be done!! Very few take Medicaid, and Medicare pays as little and in some cases LESS than Medicaid. I know, I have to fight for payments on claims!!!
THANKS BL!!! : )
Sounds like we are cut from the same cloth!!! : )
Yes, it infuriates me when coverage fails to separate COMPLEX Rehabilitative clients, covered under specialized entities for those specific fields! Unfortunately, the fact most are genetically affected from second #1, escapes today's Payor's, and they refuse to change!! I know we both agree, PUBLIC EDUCATION ON WHERE HEALTHCARE IS NOW, and...WHERE IT IS HEADED!! I too get soooooo frustrated, probably because when I was a practicing Clinician, we actually got to BE clinicians. Not currently! So ......... any suggestions how we "wake up" those affected? I would love to meet you, in another life, we could have been "besties!" LOL. : ) Have a great holiday weekend!!
Working Strong, it's hard to believe the year is almost half gone. Louisiana Legislature was in Regular Session and then went into Special Session immediately after the Regular Session ended. Louisiana is also expanding Medicaid July 1. I have been much busier than usual. The Medicaid Expansion will be of help to some people here, but not all. Louisiana Medicaid doesn't cover Pain Management Drs and the expansion won't change that. They are making cuts to Medicaid right and left. They are cutting finding drasically to one medical school and there is talk of closing it completely. This particular med school is most of the staff at one of the public hospitals that treats mostly Medicaid patients. It is a huge mess, thanks to our last governor, Republican Bobby Jindal. Education and Health & Hospitals (DHH) are the two things that are not protected from cuts in Louisiana.
CMS had given new requirements for Medicaid Managed Care Organizations. Between the new federal regs and the state cuts, the care they provide as well as the customer service is going to get much worse and most people didn't think that was possible.
Working Strong, Thanks for sharing the update. I haven't had a chance to keep up with the DME.
I'm glad your CP client was able to get into pain management. I am happy the substitution is going so well and I pray it continues. I hope You & Your Family Have a Safe July 4th.

Re: Sissy (# 92)
Please post a link to the State Of Arkansas Law stating a doctor cannot prescribe over a certain amount mg of Morphine or Morphine Equivalent daily for chronic pain. I have not been able to find the Law. But, I have found recommendations. Recommendations and Laws are not the same thing.
I'm sorry, but even for any listings I find in your area, I have no way of knowing what types of insurance they accept.
Have you tried asking your doctor for a referral somewhere else?
Have you tried contacting your local Medicaid office to see if they have a list of doctors that accept it?
What medication where you referring to, did you mean Methadone?
https://rxchat.com/wiki/Methadone/
OK, I just noticed that I spelled methodone wrong.
