Oxycodone/percocet Generics! Which Are Most Effective? (Page 3) (Top voted first)

Updated

Hello,

First, let me start by saying that I am somewhat opiate naive. I am not in pain management and hopefully won't need to be. I've had scripts here and there for norco and percocet. It is the generic percocet, or more specifically the oxycodone, i'd like to discuss here.

Over the past year i've had issues (such as a broken elbow, recurring kidney stones, and a staghorn lodged in my renal pelvis [kidney]), that have lead to several prescriptions for percocet from a total of 4 different manufacturers. Mallinckrodt 10/325, Amneal 7/325, Rhodes Pharmacy 10/325, and AuroBindo 10/325.

I've read a lot of reviews about the aforementioned generic manufacturers. The majority of them have been negative especially for Rhodes. Mallinckrodt and AuroBindo are the only two that seem to have, at least, a couple of favourable reviews.

I've got a new script for a week's supply of percocet 10/325. The primary pharmacy that I go to is Kroger (my local CVS carry Rhodes). Kroger carries the U17 Aurobindo which seem to help with pain but cause other issues; tinnitus, anxiety, drowsiness, agitation and at times nausea. Those are things I can deal with but I'd rather not.

Does anyone have any input on what they find to be the best generic manufacturer of oxycodone? I've read about endocet, actavis, watson, kvk, and others but none of them seem to be readily available in my area.

These are what i've tried in order from best to worst:

1. Mallinckrodt - good pain relief, seemingly no side effects, mild euphoria. (Unfortunately I cannot find Mallinckrodt anywhere around my area.)

2. (tie) Amneal/Aurobindo - Kind of a toss up between these two. They seem to work for the pain but have noticeable side effects. Auro (effects listed above) and Amneal both seem to cause anxiety/panic. Profuse sweating and itching have also been experienced with Amneal although not with Auro.

3. Rhodes Pharmaceuticals - I've read some horrible reviews for these. While I don't think they're as bad as some of the reviews, they were definitely very weak compared to the others i've tried. Sort of hit and miss though as one pill would make me feel high and another would make me feel sick (while not doing much for the pain). A plethora of side effects with these as well with malaise and dysphoria; the ultimate worst!

Okay now that you've heard my subjective opinion and rant, can anyone out there offer their opinion on these generic oxycodone/percocet manufacturers. Are there any generic brands I'm missing or never heard of? What's the most effective for killing pain with the least side effects? (I'm taking them for pain).

P.S. I'm going to have to fill at Kroger and get the Auro U17 regardless but would like to know for future reference. Thanks in advance! I'm in the Indianapolis, Indiana area.

Look into the carnivore diet. It eliminates all inflammatory food from your diet and it causes your body to use medicines more efficiently because none of the drug, well next to almost none, is stored in fat cells.reason being your body now feeds on fat for energy instead of carbs"sugar"..

Been on Oxycodone and Percocet p!us a long acting narcotic for 20 years and in that timeframe have tried a lot of the generics.

It would seem to me that Activis and Watson worked the best but never received any meds that flat out didn't work.

That is until February of this year my Walgreens changed to Camber.

I was sick within hours of taking them.

Vomiting, terrible stomach pains (not cramps), awful pain and withdrawals thrown in there too.

I was shaking and just plain miserable between what the drug was doing to me and no pain relief at all.

Thought I had the flu til I just happened to see a post about lots of people being sick taking Camber.

Not sure what's in them but I truly felt poisoned.

After a week of misery, my PA at my pain clinic was kind enough to write me a script for hydrocodone to get me thru til I could get my next Percocet script.

They now order Activis for me.

It took me days of being off the Camber to really start feeling better.

From now on I will check any script and will never take anything from Camber again.

From what I have seen, it looks like there are problems with other meds they make.

I have tried to tell my story everywhere I can hoping to save some folks the agony I went thru.

Generics are absolutely not all the same.

It does depend on what kind of stones you form. Mine are the least common; Uric Acid. Aspirin raises uric acid levels in the blood so i've been told to avoid that. Toradol, a prescription strength NSAID, works great but can only be used for 5 days total.

Acetaminophen doesn't seem to bother me so much. I seldom take it. Usually only when taken in a formulation that includes and opioid. Like percocet or norco.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have any preference when it comes to oxycodone generics?

I have been on oxycodone 30 mg × 4 a day for several years. Also, Percocet 10/325 ×3 per day. It is no longer WORKING!! My legs are just very jittery! What is stronger? And no b.s. please. I have severe arthritis and occasional gout and nerve pain due to several accidents (car & motorcycle).

Thanks for your input! I am a CPP and believe me, my doctor pushed me to my limit and I had a "melt down". I was in so much pain I called his office to speak with his nurse. He is located 65 miles from me but where I live now, there isn't one doctor that will help me with my pain. He realized his error then. I am now on a 25mil. Fentanyl patch and 2/5 oxycodone for beak through pain. So I feel your pain! One day at a time!

Hi! I don't know if you deal with Walgreens. They just switched from the Actavis generic (which I thought was very good for pain). However, a few weeks ago they switched from Actavis to Camber mfr. PLEASE, STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING BY CAMBER MFR!! UNFORTUNATELY, I had refilled my pain medicine on 12/26/2017.... This MFR is doing something terribly wrong! I also take 10/325, all this did for me was give me massive headaches, extreme nausea, even clogged my ears up! I have several debilitating conditions, this month has been horrendous because the pain meds DO NOT WORK! PLEASE, SAVE YOURSELF A HUGE HEADACHE & DO NOT ACCEPT ANYTHING BY CAMBER MFR! ALSO, check your meds at the pharmacy counter to make sure the ones you want are ok. By law, once you walk away from the counter, they CANNOT TAKE THEM BACK. I WISH YOU THE VERY BEST.

I heard Qualitest manufacture helped with pain. The aurobindo made my BP go up and I was nauseous . I had to go to Walgreens and ask them to order Amneal . They did but the price more then doubled . Good luck !

Re: nomas (# 33) Expand Referenced Message

The T194 are the Camber percocet that everyone says are total garbage! You're saying that these are the exact same formulation as Endocet? Made by Endo pharma?

It just doesn't make sense to me because people claim that Endocet work great and I have yet to see one positive statement about Camber percocet. Where did you find this information? I know Endo likes to go around buying up other pharma companies (dava, pars, major) so maybe they bought Camber but left the production to Camber?

I'm confused! Any clarification or source would be appreciated.

Re: Mason (# 34) Expand Referenced Message

The t194 is made by endo pharm in NJ usa. Camber is in india, a supplier of the t194 like par pharm supplies endocets e712. I have no clue why endo pharm does this unless they own them. Walgreens is the only place that has the t194s. Google the t194 made by endo/camber then google endocet e712 10/325. Both websites list endo as the manufacturers of both pills and list the fillers/ingredients as the same. Makes one wonder. We are guinea pigs. No one knows the long term effects the s*** they are putting in these pills will have on humans. I guess they have found a way of keeping the plastic bags out of landfills by putting them in the pills, LOL.

Re: Herb (# 37) Expand Referenced Message

Yes the FDA does, in fact, allow a 20% different in the active narcotic ingredient; which in this case is the opiate.

As far as the acetaminophen no pill formulation can contain more than 325mgs. That was changed a few years back to prevent hepatotoxicity. That is also an active ingredient but I wasn't referring to that. There is no leeway for this ingredient; it must be 325mg APAP exactly.

Re: Mason (# 38) Expand Referenced Message

Yes Mason!! I agree with you 100%!!! If the FDA makes food companies post the ingredients on food why not on something that is much more important like medicine?! I want to know EXACTLY AND WHAT PERCENTAGE OF WHAT INGREDIENTS ARE IN THE MEDICINE I TAKE!! This needs to change so big pharm companies will stop screwing us!! Someone here who is knowledgeable put together a note we can send to those dumb politicians and we can bring this forward so people will see what pharma is hiding!!

How do you know the name? I am on oxycodone. Sometimes, I get they are small and sometimes big. Always same color though. Maybe this is why my pain is at a stand still :(

Re: Kelly (# 40) Expand Referenced Message

You look up the number on the pill. It will tell you who makes it, the strength, etc. Google the number. If it starts with IP it is made by Amneal. If its M367 it is made by Mallinckrodt. There are also others. Call the FDA and complain. There are many people here who have been affected negatively by this Amneal garbage. It needs to be investigated! 1-888 463-6332 to complain. They say they are all the same. They say all drugs are the same...THEY ARE NOT!

Re: Larry (# 45) Expand Referenced Message

This is a pain med site Larry not a dating site. Your portfolio is not required. No one here cares what you own or your racing debut or the name of the truck that ran over your ass. Its about how pain meds affect you, the good, bad and the ugly of it, and why they are taking peoples pain meds away. Drs always start you out on low doses and I guess a 5mg a day is better than nothing. If you leave out the fact you take a 5mg tab a day you can use the same introduction you used here on Christian Mingle.

Check the spelling of your name and LARRY wow what a difference but they both have an A and a Y in them. I can see how you could be confused. Thanks for the advice.

Re: nomas (# 51) Expand Referenced Message

Congress is calling in drug companies officers to explain their role in the opiate crisis. Starts on May 8th. Should be funny to watch and see all the lies. Also, I just saw a documentary about how all college kids and adults are on Adderall. It's used for ADHD! How come they are NOT TALKING ABOUT THAT???
