my wife has degenerative arthritis throughout her back and her arms and legs , we've been getting our perscriptions filled in port charlotte but now we moved to west palm beach and no-one here will even come near this perscription , if we dont find something soon shes going into withdrawal and its a legitimate perscription.

Hi, Last year May my wife had kidney problems which caused her severe pain, she was prescribed oxynorm 10 mg to be taken through the day and ended up on 60mg slow release to be taken morning and night as well as amatryptoline at night. She eventually had her operation end of September, as she got better the doctor she was seeing slowly weened her off the slow release whihc she no longer takes, she is now only on the 10mg oxynorm and amatryptoline. We went to the Doctor last week as she has been vomiting 2 or 3 times a day for a few months now and has little or no apetite, her period is also very irregular and she didnt' have one for about 10 months, this was put down to the medication, we were told to wait till we see the surgeon that week as the doctor felt it may be related to the...

the blood tests that checks for daily levels of oxycontin taken , how far back can it be detected? ## Hi Tammy, Blood tests can only detect this drug for up to 24 hours after your last dose. I'm not too familiar with the types of blood tests given though. But as far as drug tests in general, specific testing, such as that done by a gas chromatograph mass spectrometer, appears to be the most accurate and reliable test for detecting drugs and their levels. This type of testing is not initially performed because of cost, but, is often a follow-up option for those facing serious consequences such as a job loss or jail time. I hope this info helps!

I have just started taking 10mg oxycontin I am prescribed one every twelve hrs and 5mg perc for breakthrough ever 6 hrs as needed I was wondering if anyone could give me a good schedule to be on to be completely pain free anyone with experiance please help I have Avascualr necrosis in my hips and replacement is a ways off ## There is really no set schedule that anyone can give you that will be guaranteed to work for you. What you have to do is play around yourself and see what works best to manage your pain. You may need to take them on a rigid schedule, or you may be able to have a little more leeway. Has your doctor made any suggestions?

Mom borrowed a bunch of my MS Contin and repaid me with Oxycontin when her script came in-- but today my Doc sprang a UA on me when I went in to get my meds. I took 1/2 of an 80 mg this a.m. when I woke up and then resumed my regimen of MS Contins. I took her Oxy's for two days straight before that. Will they differentiate the meds? Will they detect the differences? ## Yes, they will most likely both be detected. MS Contin contains the active ingredient Morphine and OxyContin contains the active ingredient Oxycodone. For various reasons I suffer severe pain related to: Spinal Stenosis, herniated disc in cervical spine, previous broken tailbone. I have previously tried, Oxycontin, Hydrocodone, but now am on Fentanyl patch along with Neurontin. These only control about 50% of pain and have often "breakthrough" pain that is nearly unbearable. A friend recommended Methodone to add to these meds. Can anyone tell me if it would help? Also, would it be risky as far as overdosing? I have a really high tolorance to opiates.

The current programs require either no insurance, or they help people in the coverage gap, but do not assist with co-pays. Have you talked to your doctor about using an alternative medication that might be cheaper, such as MS Contin? It's a time released formulation of Morphine and there are generics available.

I took 5 #15 oxycontin for 3 days straight how long will it remain in my system ## The major route of Oxycodone excretion is in the urine. On average, it is out of your system in roughly 3-4 days, depending on your metabolism and other health related factors. Some frequent users report it being out of your system in as little as 2 days, but I'm convinced that it requires drinking plenty of water, cranberry juice, and following other healthy regimes consistently. I found a small round pill that's sky blue with p 20 on one side and blank on the other side. The p is located over the 20. I couldn't find out what it is I googled it with no luck. Some say its oxycontin 20mg. But how do you know for sure? Does anyone know??? ## Oxycontin is only available as the name brand and the 20mg tablet is pink, with the marking OP 20 on the new formulation and OC 20 on the old formulation. I have been taking Oxycodin and Kadian for two years. Your opinion on how well the work together, and is it likely I may become addicted. How long can one take these for chronic pain and feel safe about it? ## I can speak from experence only from the point of oxycodone, check you'r family backgroung for alcholism or drug addiction and your self for an addictive personality, I warn you of the caution, but if you are truely in pain take it only AS PERSHRIBED DEXTOX IS HELL!! you will be O.K. if you do not abuse it. I would also apprciate knowing how strict Nevada is about prescribing narcotics. For instance; Do you need to personally see your physician each month for refills or can they be renewed at the proper time interval automatically, etc....?? Thank you very much for your help. ## The regulations for this are federal, not state level regulations, so they are the same in Nevada as they are anywhere else. If it is a straight narcotic, such as Oxycontin, Fentanyl, or something similar then you have to see your doctor each month and have a new prescription written. However, for most of the lower dose ones that incorporate a narcotic with Acetaminopen or Ibuprofen, you can have a limited number of refills and only have to see your doctor every few months. Are there any other comments or questions?

im looking for a pharmacy that has 30mg oc not ops in minnesota, mpls perferably ## Due to the fact that the formulation change was made last year, it is very doubtful that you are going to find any pharmacy that still has the original Oxycontin formulation in stock. In addition, virtually every pharmacy in the U.S. sold out at the end of the year and into the new year, because there was a manufacturing shortage. Have you tried talking to your doctor about possibly using a different medication?

Have the Oxycontin been changed in Canada as well. I usually bounce between Dilaudid and Oxycontin for pain., wondering is I should stay on the Dilaudid this time ## oxycontin will be changed to a new formula in Canada in the very near future. ## I am not completely certain, but my guess would be that it has already been changed to the new formulation, or it will be changed very soon, as madatdopers has stated. My reasoning for this is because the name brand in Canada is also manufactured by Purdue Pharma, who made the changes to the U.S. formulation. Are there any questions or comments?

I would like to know what it is>? Truthful answer are the new OxyContin or the new none sniffing OP's???? ## If it has the OP marking, then it is the new formulation of Oxycontin and the 30 means it is a 30mg tablet.
