No registration is required and your identity remains anonymous.I have just been discharged from hospital and prescribed adco-namamol tablet 500mg & Tramahexal 100mg for severe back pain (osteoporosis with numerous crushed vertebrae & discs-upper & lower spine) How will this impact my IBS which at present is presenting with constipation. Dr said he'd give me something to counteract latter but cannot see that these 2 will be doing that. Your opinion please? ## Hello, Margie! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in so much pain. The problem here would be the Tramahexal, since it contains Tramadol, which the U.S. FDA classifies as an opiate pain reliever. It can actually cause constipation as a side effect, so it may worsen this problem for you. It also carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause other side effects, such...
These are my only problems. If this a side effect of prolia? I'm due for my second shot in December ## Hello, June! How are you? It can cause a dry mouth and throat and it only makes sense that if you're dryer, your saliva would be thicker. You may find that sipping water frequently may help, unless you're on fluid restriction, or ice chips can also help. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, loose teeth, constipation and abdominal discomfort. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks...I will reconsider prolia now
I Found these in my moms purse, I have never seen before and she is 70 she doesn't know what they are ## Hello, Pat! How is your mom? These tablets are manufactured by Mylan Pharmaceuticals and they list them as containing 70mgs of Alendronate. This medication is used to help treat or prevent osteoporosis. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and joint/muscle aches. Is there anything else I can help with?
On June 16th 2015 I received my third Prolia inj. The first two did not cause me any pain but I have had weight gain and insomnia from the first shot. After the third one, on June 17th my hips spine shoulders neck were so painful I could hardly walk. I am 70 years old and have been very active in my life. I feel old for the first time in my life. I am depressed, fatigued, I lack strength and stamina. I will never take another Prolia inj again. I am a retired nurse and read the possible side effects but since I didn't have reactions of pain on the first two, I went ahead and took the third shot. Biggest mistake I have ever made. My question is how long are the side effects going to last? ## Hello, Carol! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're so miserable. As to how long the...
Is it possible to inject only half the 60mg say 30 mg then wait a month and see if side effects are bad before deciding to inject the other half? I know the auto syringe is set up for one full injection but I wonder if it can be opened and hand injected with another syringe to inject only 30 mg as a precaution ## Hi there, I tried this with my GP re a small dose, not on he said, I am now into my 6th month of my first injection. I shall not be having another as in this last month I have had stiff painful neck with back of skull soreness., I do so hope that this will wear off with time!! I also had a bleed behind my right eye,his this I am sure was related to PROLIA!!
Hello my name is Susie. In july 2012 I had my first inj of Prolia. A month afterwards I contracted flu like symptoms, another month down the road i became very ill again. I went to my primary care doctor and he told me it was a viral infection and it would have to run its course. Another month passed and then the symptoms now worsened. The symptoms were as follows: weakness, muscle pain, loss of appetite with severe weight loss, fatigue. At this time I thought something very serious was going on inside my body such as, cancer, or my life was being taken away from me. 6 months passed. 2nd round of prolia the dr assured me that this was not coming from the inj. I was 49 years of age now 52. I worked everyday of my life without missing anytime from work. now I am completely disabled due to...
Can Alendronate cause a positive result for methamphetamine? ## Hello, Troy! How are you? No, I've not found anything listing that Alendronate/Fosamax has been known to cause them. This medication is used to treat or prevent osteoporosis and the FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, joint/muscle aches and exacerbation of asthma. Are you on any other medications, even over the counter products?
Wondering if weight gain is a side effect? ## Hello, Gayle! How are you? Yes, it is listed among the possible side effects provided by the FDA. You may also experience hoarseness, joint pain, loose teeth, heartburn and insomnia. Is there anything else I can help with?
I had my first and only Prolia shot on 2/24/15. I have exprienced severe swelling not my right knee starting exactly 7 days after getting the shot. I like to exercise - walking daily. I am unable to do this now. Will this poison really be out of my system in 6 months. HelpZ, ## Hello, Diana! How are you? I'm very sorry about what happened to you. It will be out, yes, but there's no way of knowing how long any possibly issues that it caused will last. Many people have complained and had to stop taking it. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, joint/muscle aches and headache. Has the swelling gone down any? ## There is an entire thread about Prolia side effects. Go to the medwatch home page and type in Prolia in the search box. ## Diana I wish you all the best and pray...
Can Fosamax be taken in the evening - 1 hr before bed? I am taking protonix every morning 1 hr before breakfast, and would not feel well all day if I didn't. So the question is, can I take Fosamax later on after breakfast and before lunch, or between lunch and dinner, or even after dinner, 30-60 minutes before going to bed? ## Hello, Frumu! How are you? No, for Fosomax to be effective, the FDA directions say it must be taken upon arising in the morning, at least half an hour before having any other food, beverage or medication, other than plain water. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, abdominal pain, skin rash and chest pain. Is there anything else I can help with?
I am a female 68 years old usually very fit (aerobics swimming walking dancing) After this injection I had earache neckache then that ceased for a while but instead all my muscles are stiff. When I get out of bed and try and stand up IFeel like a 90 year old. I insisted on getting an xray on my spine and L5 has been damaged also t8 and there is a reduction between c5&6. The neurologist doesn't think that it is the prolia but I don't accept this. In the meantime I am going to see a spine specialist when I have had my ct's. ALl I cansay is it is like a dybuk has entered my body. I now have to learn how to deal with the damage. Any ideas are welcome ## Hello, Diane! How are you? I am so very sorry about what happened to you. Yes, I agree with you that it could be the Prolia...
My 78 year old mother has been diagnosed with a case of Osteoporosis. She has been prescribed an IV of Newbona. She is however reluctant to take it as she says she has heard of a lot of side effects of the drug.(She retired as a nurse). I am not medically qualified and am interested to know 1) The coposition of the drug 2) Its uses and what it may be prescribed for 3) Any case of side effects due to the intake of the medication ## From what I have been able to find, Newbona is actually a calcium supplement, meant to help improve the amount of it in the body, because a deficiency in it can contribute to osteoporosis. Learn more Calcium information here. This also means that since it is a supplement and not a drug, it has not been tested for side effects, as is done with medications, but ...
Are there any safe drugs for osteoporosis? Her physician says that there is an injectable drug without the side effects of brittle bones, but I am finding gastro-intestinal side effects for some of those. GI problems are my Mom's primary issue, so I don't want to make that worse. Any safe ones out there? ## My Mom did fabulously on Calcitonin Salmon but it did not work for me. I have more of my father's genes than my mother's
I had a shot about 4-5 months ago(due for another one), doubt I'll put that into my system again ! I now am havin bi-lateral hip pain that awakes me every night, and when I walk, I'm stiff !!! Never had these things before, so it seems to me, that the longer it's in your body, the worse off you are ! JMHO. Sent a letter to MD that gace it to me w/black box warning and it said "druge not to take". I have not heard fromher on that note. She probably has nothing else to offer me. She stopped RECLAST after 4 doses,b/c she was getting lomg bone crumbling fractures in some of her patients. So we shall see what the next round of "poison" people will think of for us !!! Good Luck to you all ## Hello, Antonette! Sorry about the pain that you're experiencing. You a...
AMGEN has now admitted to us that PROLIA can cause SEIZURES. My 84 year old mother had a prolia shot in April 11th, and by May 8th she was in hospital with urinary infections and seizures. Doctors couldn't figure out what caused it. Again in September she was again admitted with urinary infections and seizure like symptoms. Mother has been in hospital for months due to this and now needs 24 hour care. I believe AMGEN should pay for this and am looking for a lawyer to take it on. I will post more when we get more results and proof, but BEWARE OF PROLIA.... IF YOU HAVE TAKEN IT, MAKE SURE IT IS ON YOUR DRUG LIST FOR PARAMEDICS AND DOCTORS AT THE HOSPITAL... as it is administered only twice a year, it is easily left off the list. ## I am very sorry about what happened to your mother. I...
I had 4 shots of Prolia. I am not taking it any more as my last bone density test showed improvement. During the time I was on Prolia, I had a cracked molar and it had to be pulled. Now there is exposed dead jaw bone in my mouth. Oral surgeon said it was not ONJ, but at that time I had only had the problem a few months. He also treated me for an infection in the area with antibiotics. Now the exposed jaw bone has been there for the better part of a year and is not getting better. Has anyone else had this problem after dental work? Any treatments help? ## Prolia ...since April 2013... continue to experience jaw pain with difficulty eating which in-turn am still unable to put any weight back on. The rheumatologist finally accepted the fact that this medication indeed was responsible for a...
I took my first Fosamax on Friday with no ill effects that day. Whe I woke up on Saturday morning I was having some pain in my right arm and my whole back. These pains gradually became worse as the day went on. Sleeping was very difficult and slept in spurts, waking everytime I moved. On Sunday morning when I tried to get out of bed I was in excruciating pain. My husband got me to the living room and in to a recliner and that is where I spent my day. Sunday evening I took some pain pills that my dentist had given me and was able to sleep. Today, Monday, sarted out ok but has gradually deterioated. Most pain is in my back (I can't stand totally erect) and has gone into both shoulders. It feels like a knife has been stuck into my back and jiggled around. This makes taking a deep breat...
Received my first Prolia injection in June. I have osteoporosis of the spine and osteopenia of the hips. I am 62 and in good health otherwise, do not take any other prescriptions except for vaginal premarin cream. On November 3 for no apparent reason I had a stress fracture in the right foot below the outer ankle. It is still not fully healed, but is much better. A week after the stress fracture I did a slow motion fall, while hobbling around on a relatives driveway, hitting their mailbox post, (with not much force) causing a type II shoulder sprain which still has not healed. My general physician referred me to an orthopedic specialist on Thursday to see what is going on. My GP recommended not taking the second shot this December. The gynocologist is the prescriber of the Prolia. Will ...
I have noticed that since starting Prolia I seem to always have a cold, stomach problems, sore/achy joints, and headaches. I am 46 and very athletic but this drug has taken a toll on my body. My white blood cell count has been affected as well. I am on Prolia because I had a breast cancer diagnosis in 2008 and my doctor felt it would help protect my bones. But I feel it is doing quite the opposite. My immune system has been altered in a negative way by this drug and it's not worth the gamble knowing my health history. Sorry Prolia but I'm out. Best regards to all! ## Hello, Trace! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems you've had. And you are not the first to report such annoying and ongoing long-term side effects from Prolia, many people have suffered similar is...
This was my 3 prolia injection, right away the worst arthritic attack wrists & hands, exzema head, eye involvement, very weak. blood work all over the place. have had 2 pancreatic attacks, 1 bowel blockage. Spent all my time resting no choice, finally in October felt a little stronger, able to walk around, no driving yet. I felt there was light at the end of the tunnel. November able to do groceries, small things but improvement. Then last week of November extreme weakness of the legs and arms unable to support myself, and my brain is off again hard to concentrate, I am feeling discouraged, when will I be OK. Everyone considering this drug please make sure you know all the side effects, I was told there were none. It is up to us to check for ourselves. ## Hello, Danielle! How are yo...
