Newbona
UpdatedMy 78 year old mother has been diagnosed with a case of Osteoporosis. She has been prescribed an IV of Newbona. She is however reluctant to take it as she says she has heard of a lot of side effects of the drug.(She retired as a nurse). I am not medically qualified and am interested to know 1) The coposition of the drug
2) Its uses and what it may be prescribed for 3) Any case of side effects due to the intake of the medication

From what I have been able to find, Newbona is actually a calcium supplement, meant to help improve the amount of it in the body, because a deficiency in it can contribute to osteoporosis.

This also means that since it is a supplement and not a drug, it has not been tested for side effects, as is done with medications, but it may cause injection site irritation.
Has she discussed her concerns with her doctor?
