My Teeth have been breaking off on a regular basis the dental hospital are very nervous about removing my Teeth as they fear my jaw could break as a result of osteonecrosis. Also, I have just had a barium swallow for my enlarged glans in my throat where for the past 6 weeks I have lost my ability to speak after awakening at 8am exactly 12hrs later. The mental anguish is extreme and the dental surgery costs will be astronomical if my jaw can stand up to teeth removal without breaking. The manufacturers of this drug should step up and accept the compensation pay out to the sufferers of this debilitating drug called fosamax. ## That is a known side effect of this medication, according to NIH reports. It may...
Had my second injection of Prolea Nov. 2012. Have developed severe rash on both lower ankles and feet. The rash itches, seems to be forming blisters, and is quite painful. My GP is baffled. I live far from my dermatologist, but am considering making the trip. Anyone have comments or suggestions? ## The following symptoms are listed as general side effects of Prolia (denosumab) injections: red, dry, or itchy skin rash oozing or crusty blisters on skin peeling skin Ref: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a610023.html#side-effects If the side effects are becoming too bothersome or severe, I'd definitely encourage you to talk to your doctor about changing medications or opting for a more natural alternative with less side effects. In the end, the side effects may not go away until yo...
I am due for my second shot on june 1but i have several bad teeth how long do i have to be off of proliabefore i ban get my dental work ## Hello, Sherry! How are you? You need to check that with your dentist, because it's going to depend on the type of dental work required. Something such as a simple filling may not require that you stop the Prolia, but an extraction would be a different matter. Do they have cavities or do they need removed? ## Haven't had a cavity in over 20 years. First prolia shot in September. Just discovered 3 cavities myself. Could be more. Haven't been to dentist. Definitely concerned.!!!
Had third Prolia shot 6 weeks ago and my life has changed dramatically. Nasea, headaches, numbness, tingling, weakness, back pain... I was very active and now am barely able to get out of bed! Four doctor visits, all kinds of tests, one ER visit and tests all normal. I am not crazy - it is the Prolia!!!! Don't do it. There are other more natural options to help with bone density. I regret getting this shot. By the way, first two shots had no significant side effects but the third one was debilitating!!!! ## Hello, Rennie! How are you doing? I am so very sorry about what you've been through. Has there been any change? Unfortunately, most of these medications can cause such side effects, according to FDA reports. There are reports on here from many people that have had bad experie...
I started having prolia inj's. nearly 3 years ago. Shortly after the first one I found out about a study being done in South East Queensland, where I live, using carefully monitored weight training exercises to increase bone density. I started attending classes immediately. After 8 months, my second bone density scan showed that I had increased the density in my hip by 10% and in my spine by 6%. Other scans I have had since then have showed further improvement. I have read more about prolia since then and would very much like to discontinue it. I am hoping for some information on the effects of discontinuing prolia after 6 injections. I have heard that stopping the inj's. will result in a reduction of bone density once again. But, as I am also doing the weight bearing exercises ...
I have a round pinkish orange non-coated pill with 714 on one side and a capital M. What medication is this? ## This tablet is manufactured by Mylan Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 35mgs of Risedronate, which is used to treat osteoporosis. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, aggravation of asthma, and joint aches. Is there anything else I can help with?
I started taking Evista in early June of this year and began having severe migraine-like-headaches around this time. Is there any connection? ## Yes, the FDA does list that as being a possibly side effect, along with nausea, shortness of breath, chest pain, and loss of appetite. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? Are you on any other medications?
Getting prolia shot tomorrow. Have osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. Tried the once a year shot but had terrible reaction. Dr. Said this was my only other option to save my spine. So scared after reading all the post about bad side effects. Have always drank milk. Take vitamin d but am always in pain. Hope someone can tell me this shot worked for them. ## How did it go? Did you have any problems, or bad reactions? From what I've seen in the posts on here, it's been kind of a 50-50 thing, it works well for about half the people and not so well for the other half. ## Hi I have osteoporosis. And arthritis. had prolia injection have found the pain has reduced. I am happy so far ## I am nearing the end stages of lumbar spinal stenosis. I have had Dr.s telling me the only pain relief I...
Approximately 5 years ago, my PCP brought up that my calcium levels were increasing. Four yrs. ago, he referred me to an Endocrinology group. Levels have been in question, and this year Test for Calcium, Ionized, Serum resulted in 5.9 and the acceptable range is 4.8-5.6. I also had the Calcium 24 Hr. Urine done. Result was 304, the 24 hr. urine (calcium was 4000 and 24 hr urine volume was 4000. Reference range was 100-300 and flag for this was High. Lastly test for U24 CRR resulted in 1812 and reference range is 600-1800, flag was High. My Bone Density had decreased, and I have been on Fosamax. The Dr. wanted to change me to Prolia. Does Magnesium play a large part with the absorption of calcium to your bones? The dr. says, my calcium is spilling into my Urine and not bones. My Mother h...

Thanks ## My dr. has recently prescribed Foszmax for me, but I wanted to do some research before taking it. Did your mom take it once and started feeling this way, or was this her first time taking it? Is s...
How many inj's. of Prolia are safe to take? Over how many years? ## Hi Judy, From my personal investigation, there doesn't appear to be a set number of inj's or time frame for the duration of therapy associated with Prolia. I have a feeling it's solely based on your doctor's discretion... And if that is the case, perhaps your prescribing doctor can provide more specific details on that. Additionally, there's a popular discussion thread here comprised of patient comments & reviews from their experience with Prolia therapy that may help you with your research at: Prolia Side Effects. ClinicalTrials.gov provides some insight on Prolia as well. I hope this helps, as I too would be interested in knowing what the cut off point is, if any...
ANY of the side effects mentioned here are true and happen to almost anyone who takes this shot ! Unfortunately they do not know all the problems it will cause. I would never have another shot of Prolia again. You can do it at your own risk, but it's a gamble to do so. ## Sorry to hear about your troubling experience with Prolia. I don't know why, but these types of shots tend to cause a lot of undesirable side effects in most people taking them. The most common side effects I hear of are usually described as aching joints, back pain, and various symptoms associated with an allergic reaction (i.e - swelling, rash, itching). Hopefully more people will take some time out to do their research before committing to high risk drugs like Prolia. From a patient's perspective it can ...
I had Aclasta infusion in September 2012 followed by severe side effects - chest and rib pain, joint pain, high fever. Specialist now wants me to have Prolia, due now. Having read all the posts about the side effects I'm very wary about taking it. Anyone else in this situation? ## Hello, Sheila! How are you feeling? Sorry about the bad reaction you had to the Aclasta. Not only have others been in that situation, but many of them have stopped Prolia or refused to start it. I understand why doctors are concerned and want to advocate the use of these types of mediations, but I have to wonder if it's really necessary in many cases. I'm really starting to think that more women should get a second opinion, before resorting to these drugs. Most of them, including the Prolia, are al...
Hello, First I want to say I am 56 and almost never have medicaton problems. I had 4 rounds of chemo in 2010 and am doing great. My oncoligist said it would be benifical for me to have Prolia every 6 months. My T score waas good but he thought it would help me later. I had my first (and only) Prolia injection on 12/01/11. Six days later I was in severe pain and went to see my primary care physician and he sent me streight to the emergancy room.I had upper left abdominal pain and fever. I haven't been to the emergancy room in 25 years. Well I had all the usual tests and they thought it might be diverticulitis. New to me I never had that before. My primary doc and my ortho docs told me he didn't think it was diverticulitis and I should not have Prolia again. I am now having some j...

Prolia injection is a bad drug and doctors keep telling us its to build the bones its a lie it causes pain and suffering and some people ended in the hospital your body is itching from head to toe and your legs swell up the pain is crucifying you can hardly walk in other words its a poison drug some doctors will suggest that poison for the money I call that greed it never ends.I am getting rid of my doctor before he finds another excuse to poison me again he is a to face liar . ## I am very sorry about what you've experienced, Rose. There are no medications that can ever be guaranteed to be side effect free. What you experienced can be normal...
I have been taking the generic form of fosamax once a week for 3 wks. I have developed intense heartburn and nausea. I was very reluctant to begin this drug and am thinking of stopping. Anyone else have these side effects? ## Those can be normal side effects, as reported by the FDA, you may also experience headache, and joint/muscle aches. Are you on any other medications? On May 2012, I got my 1st Prolia injection. Four months later, I gradually started to have groin, hip, thigh and lower back pain on the right side. My rheumatologist says that I have severe osteoarthritis in my lower back and mild to moderateosteoarthritis in my right hip. I can still walk with some pain and bending to tie my shoes or put socks on is excrutiating. Sept. 2015 and I am still on Prolia. Could this be the cause of all my pain? ## Hello, Louise! How are you? Yes, it is possible that it's due to the Prolia. Many people have experience such side effects from it, along with headache and dizziness, as listed by the FDA. In many cases, it has been so severe that they had to stop taking it. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Yes, it is a possibility that Prolia has cau...
