I tried staying in a medical detox but failed a few times recently. I have purchased methadone pills on the street. Because I am sick and tired of always being sick, either looking for ways, and means to get my fix daily and I sat back and seriously decided enough was enough. The time an energy spent getting and doing them is ridiculous as anyone with this addiction knows. I am really just wondering if anyone personally knows how to effectively taper with the pills at home because I do not want to end up in a position where I am gonna be more sick at the end of the taper cause that will defeat my whole purpose of doing this. Any help or advice will be gladly accepted and t...
Thorough education by my Pain Management Board Certified Doctor, and his Physician Assistant. The reason Doctor's like Methadone, is it reacts dually as both a traditional narcotic pain reducer, as well as working on NERVE pain. Very few narcotics work on Nerve pain. Usually you have to add Lyrica, or a step therapy drug such as gabapentin or Topamax. So its two birds with one stone. Also, methadone, at therapeutic doses, is lower in amount necessary to work, hence less side effects, including brain fog, dopy, or constipation. This is the same reason Pain Specialists prescribe (or did) Oxycodone. It did not work on nerve pain, only like a traditional strong narcotic, however was much less sedating. And all our goals are to be more active and live our lives with friends and family. An...

I am in knoxville, tn. Recently my np at pain clinic told me that she could no longer write my methadone due to new state law. she has changed me to different med profile, and I am living daily at about an 8 out of 10. someone please help me find a dr. in this area that will write methadone. can"t go to methadone clinic because I have taken clonazapam for 20 yrs, and they won"t accept. someone p...
Hi! This is my first time writing about my experience on Subs. Let's see....it has been about 4 years I have been taking them. I was taking 80mg or more a day of oxycontin. I was wearing a size 0 in clothing, wasted every dollar I could get my hands on to go buy more (and where I live they were $70-80 per pill). And even worse, me and my husband were both on them so that doubles the money we were spending on them. After 2 years and nearly ruining our lives, we started the local Methadone clinic and things seemed to be getting better. We done that for a year when I had finally had enough of dozing off, falling asleep and gaining weight that I told my husband I was quitting cold turkey. I was getting my doses by the week at 80 mgs a day so we split it up so we both could do it and slo...
i moved to bristol,va and cant find anbody that will refill my meds ## Hello, Bob! How are you? If you are taking it for pain, then you'll need to see a pain management specialist. A general practice physician won't be able to prescribe it for you and to find a new doctor, you won't be able to ask them up front if they'll prescribe Methadone, because doctors are taught to view that as being drug seeking behavior. You'll need to set up an appointment with a doctor, make sure they get a full copy of your medical records and then discuss your treatment options, while at your appointment. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. If you are takin...
Is it legal for a doctor to ask for a pill count, if he/she is not the prescribing Dr.? The Dr. that does perscribe the pills knows that I am going to the clinic, and the clinic Dr. has already had contact with the Dr that prescribes my meds, And, btw, my Dr found the clinic Dr very insulting and offputting. All is above board, and I'm not trying to hide anything from the clinic Dr. But there are two Drs., (very young women), at the clinic that really treat patients like criminals, rather than desparate people seeking help for their disease. Also, any documentation I bring in always seems to get "lost" before it's entered into my paper and computer file.(Of course I always have copies!). ## Hello, Mz Q! How are you? Yes, they can ask for anything of the sort that they wa...
I have been on suboxone for around 2 months in the beginning it made me very sick for a week and now all of a sudden I am getting flushed on my neck and chest my skin itches and feels like it's on fire and my cheeks and hands swell it subsides slightly by the next morning but comes back in full effect after I take it again, my Dr says it's probably not a reaction to suboxone but I can't see it being anything else. I'm allergic to sulfa as well. Can anyone help ## Yes, Suboxone can make you very sick. Doctors don't know what they are taking about half the time. I was started on Suboxone and was on it for.several months. I was always nauseated and I could not digest any solid food. I lived on jarred baby food and nutrition drinks for nine months. All the time I kept as...
When on facolin xr 10mg, can you take suboxone film 8mg if you have withdrawals? Or can you take it together? I took 3 10mgs of focalin xr yesterday n couldnt sleep all night, i took 4 more today, still havent slept, was wondering if i took suboxone film if itll help me sleep or will it give somekind of high. ## Hello, Chambabe! How are you? Why did you take so much of the Focalin XR? This is a stimulant that carries the risk of being habit forming and it is well known to case side effects, such as insomnia, headache, irritability and weight loss. And no, since it is a stimulant and Suboxone is a narcotic, which is basically a downer, it is not safe to also take it, unless your doctor specifically instructs you to do so. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit ...
For the past 4 days except for today I have been taking 8mg of suboxone, today I took 3-7.5 mg of Vicodin to no effect I'm guessing because of my blocked receptors, I'm looking to just continue my suboxone use, do I have to wait even though the suboxone already blocked everything, or will I go into precipitated withdrawals because there are opiates in my system? Thx ## @Curious, If you haven't received any kind of effect from taking a single vicodin, my opinion is that you should be fine to continue using suboxone as you were. However because I am not a doctor I would still encourage you to seek professional medication advice regarding this just to be on the safe side. There are also those here who have a lot of personal experience switching between the two and can offer a m...
I have been accepted to the Here to Help Program for suboxone. I saw my dr today and received my prescription. She was not sure how or when I get my card. I need these filled tomorrow or I wil go into withdrawl. Can you help me? ## Hello, Lulu! How are you? The Here to Help program is just a counseling and support program, it doesn't actually help pay for the prescription, so there is no card for it. You just get a log-in to their support website. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Are you sure that's the program you applied to?
I just started on suboxone on Saturday. Dr prescribed 1 and a half films a day. I told her I am currently on zanax .05 mg 3 times a day for panic attacks. So she told me to just take 1 film that first day (and go ahead and take that night dose of zanax that first day then get with my Dr about tapering off zanax) SO I did and felt pretty good. On Sunday I just took one suboxone also since I felt ok the first day on it. Then today (Monday) I took just one again and have had withdrawals and cravings ALL day. Trying to taper the zanax myself until I can see a Dr and only taking half tablet at a time so my question is should I go ahead and up the suboxone to the recommended dose or am I anxious maybe from cutting back on the zanax. Can't get in to see Dr about taper for 12 more days. And...
My dr said a law passes prohibiting dr. Who are not pain managment dr from proscribing methadone is this true i havenot read about this or heard about it eaither. ## Hello! How are you? It isn't a law, so to speak, but new regulatory guidelines for it were put in place to try to curb over prescribing and improper prescribing of controlled substances. Under these regulations, GPs are strongly discouraged from prescribing them at threat of losing their license, fines and jail time. They are told to instruct patients to see specialists if they require such medications on a long-term ongoing basis. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else...
my mate has been rx methadone 80mg daily for about 3 weeks now for chronic pain...he was on subzolv without much relief so was changed to the methadone. so far he is having withdrawl symptoms daily and wondering if he should take all 80mg at once instead of spreading it out throughout the day. could use your help ## Hello, Wandy! How is your friend? How was he instructed to take it? In most cases, when given for addiction treatment or maintenance, it's given in one daily dose, but for pain, it's spread out thoughout the day to try to give better pain management. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Has he spoken to his doctor? He may need a higher d...
my daughter who is on 120mgs. of methadone, taking it because she was a H addict many years ago. her health has deteriorated and her internist says that the liquis form of methadone is not ok for her to take due to gastroparesis. when she gets dosed she immediately vomits it up. her md wants her to be on pill form, but clinics will not accomodate. she was just discharged from her clinic because she's a health risk. she also suffers from severe and frequent migraine headaches, is a diabetic, and having problems getting that under control. i wonder if at this point a pain md would take her on as a pt.. ## Hello, Chris! How is your daughter doing? I'd suggest asking her internist if they can refer her to someone that can help. She also may want to ask about the safety of taking Sub...
I'm 62 years old I have arthritis in my legs and this week I took a little extra from one of my take outs then I got a call back. I watered down the one I took extra from. Can they test the purity, if so how? ## My spouse wakes up earlier ans earlier claiming her methdose is be stepped on or buffed down as it should work the whole 24 hour period. I am aware the methadone powder can be bought on the black market so i assume it is being mixed with something some where down the road to her bottles. How can i test the purity of her methadose is all we want to know? ## They can't test purity but they can tell if the seal has been tampered with
I have been on Suboxone for a little over a year now. I am now off the roxy. Anyway, my question is: My doctor does a panel test to test for the usual. Then she will do a separate test for Suboxone. I smoke pot. This has come up positive on my tests before and she says she normally wouldn’t care, but to her this means, “I am hanging around the wrong crowd and might relapse.†I have used clean urine from another person before and dissolved a small piece of the film in it. When I do this the panel test shows a faint line for opiates. Then I swear up and down I haven’t taken a roxy in over a year (true), and then she will do a separate test just for Suboxone and roxy. Dissolving a small piece into the clean urine made the ...
I have been taking Suboxone for 8 months. gone off a few times, bad decision. was off suboxone recently for a week taking non prescribed methadone. went through hell. getting back on am back up to 12 to 16 mg day. take 8 to 12 in mornings then 4mg at night. also take Clonipin am. tapering those now. have horrible depression paranoia anxiety. going through watching husband have affair many and treats me horribly. not many friends. hard just to make myself shower or do dishes. have arm pain. what to do. Can anyone tell me of a good doctor in pensacola fl or milton fl that can write methadone and narcos thats the only thing that helps my pain. ## Hello, Doug! How are you? Any licensed physician can prescribe them, but there are no guarantees they will do so. The only thing you can really do is see PM doctor, make sure they receive a copy of your most current medical records and then explore your treatment options with them, at your appointment. Asking for such medications ahead of time, before you're actually a patient, will most likely be viewed as drug seeking behavior and most doctors won't even let you get in the door. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and con...
Are there any doctors in or near the Columbus, Georgia area that prescribe Methadone & Oxycodone for pain management from injuries and surgery from auto accident over 6 years ago? ## Hello, Ann! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. If you require such medications on a long-term ongoing basis, due to the regulations that were put in place last year, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. However, I cannot speak as to whether or not they will necessarily prescribe these or any medications, since that is entirely up to the doctor. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Do you currently have a PCP that could refer you to someone? ...
I really need to know of some docters that prescribe methadone for pain in or around the baton rouge, la area please help!!!! {edited for privacy} ## Hello, Brian! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. However, there is no listing of doctors according to what they will or will not prescribe that I can refer to for you. Due to the regulations that were put in place last year, if you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. However, due to its highly addictive nature, most are going to be very reluctant to prescribe Methadone. Do you currentl...
