I just had to switch from 2 x 80mg OxyContin ERs a day, to 2 x 40mg Opana ERs with 3 x 15mg oxycodone for breakthrough pain. The Opana doesn't seem to be working as well. Does anybody know why that is? ## Why did you have to switch? It may just be that it's not the right medication for you, not every medication works for everyone that tries it. How long ago did you switch medications? ## I had to switch because my insurance will no longer cover the cost of Oxycontin. My pain was being managed very well with the Oxycontin 80mg. twice a day. The only other pain med besides morphine that they will cover now is Opana.

I need help locating a pharmacy in northwest Ohio to fill my prescription of opana 40mg for sunday. If you are aware of a pharmacy still having a few opana 40mg instock it would greatly appreciated? ## Have you tried checking with the various pharmacies? The only thing I can really suggest is trying that, but you'll usually have to go in, with your prescription in hand, because if you call they won't give you a straight answer, since they've no way of knowing if you are legitimate customer. i am on methadone 5mg twice a day for long term pain. i am on 10 mg oxycodone four times a day for breakthrough pain. i hate methadone, but its a long story having to do with a stint at a clinic. i couldnt tell my doctor that. i have been taking 10 mg opana ir and they work well, i just have built a tolerance to it. i think the 20 mg twice a day along with two 15mg oxycodone for breakthrough should do me well. i cant take the opana er because they make me sick, do you guys think that what i want is a good enough substitute? any comments and suggestions would be helpful. thanks ## Was on both meds- got off both. After lunch (about 14 hours ago) I thought I took my acid reducing pill, but it turns out I took one of my brother's Opana 30 ERs (the bottles were in the same spot, they looked similar, I didn't think or look twice). I've never taken one before and its been a few years since I took anything like this. I feel tired, cold in some places and occasionally itch, but outside that am not feeling any side effects. My son is buying Opana off the street and is addicted to 3- 40 mg a day... I am 69 years old and have had a masdectomy (double) taking muscle relaxers and Norco for muscle/nerve spasms- He stills 20 of my Norco and Muscle relaxerd a day- either slling them or trading them for opana... I am trying to understand opana abuse as I have a friend who is addicted. Can anyone out there tell me what an opana abuser feels? I mean when you snort this stuff, what is the effect? Can a person still function or is it some kind of mind-tripping, lay-on-the-bed spaced out kind of thing? if i was taking approx 80mgs of norco (10/325) 3x a day what would the equal dose of 40mg opana er be? ## this is only posted because my doc has takenen me off the norcos and i dont want to feel the effects of withdrawl...i would rather wean myself but need to know where to start!! ## The Oxymorphone in the Opana is much stronger than the Hydrocodone in the Norco, so it would only take 26.67mgs of it a day to equal the 80mgs of Hydrocodone in the Norco that you were taking. how long does opana 25 mg taken 2x daily for 6 days at 200lbs stay in your system for a urine drug screen ## For the brief period of time, it will be detectable for a urine screen for about 3 to 4 days, though it may vary a little from person to person. i need to know how to dissolve opana er. i have to take a test for the clinic and need to carry in urine there for i need to dissovle some in the urin any suggestions ## Dont do it... The dissolved meds are not the same as what shows up in a drug test... The liver breaks the meds down into different compounds. Also you only get aprox 5% of the medication after the liver processes it, which is why the dose is so high, and why they had to make them tamper proof... To prevent overdoses... When you dissolve them, you will get a big gooy mess, which will mess up your UA. Just take one a day before your test, to get it onto your system...
