New Subutex Laws (Page 14) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI went to see my doctor this week and he told me that the FDA and the DEA had passed a new law for prescribing Subutex. As of July 1st 2015 Subutex can only be given to pregnant woman or to someone with documentation saying they can't take Suboxone. If you don't have that you will be put on Suboxone.
RYAN YORK: The only reason Naloxone is even in Suboxone is to keep people from injecting it, so Subutex and Suboxone are basically the same drug. And there really is no need to inject Bupe anyway, because those of us with legitimate opioid addictions aren't going to get "high" from Bupe anyway.
they are not the same thing!!!!, i was on suboxone for years and suffered from frequent daily migraines, come to find out I'm allergic to the naloxone in the SUBOXONE. subutex doesn't have naloxone, only buphenorphine, and telling someone to just stop, clearly ur not an addict, none of us chose that route, we didn't just wake up one day saying I'm going to be an addict! its a little more difficult than that!
No s*** KKH. And where did you get anything about intravenous administration. I never said anything in regards to that matter. I was giving a possible explanation. I have taken suboxone and have been on subutex for a very long time. Know all about the two drugs. And from experience noticed that doctors are uncomfortable prescribing subutex over suboxone unless you are allergic to naloxone or pregnant ect.
RYAN: Yes, I understand that you were giving a "possible explanation", and I was ADDING to that explanation. Just getting information out there. Sheesh guy, maybe you should see about increasing your dosages or something. You seem a little EDGY...
I've had the same thing done to me with being on subutex for 3 yrs and my doctor was retiring, so he says and referred me to a new doctor at 3x a day and then I went to the new doctor and I immediately got tapered and discharged; and with no taper dose because I was not compliant with a pill count!! So I have to go cold turkey which is very dangerous I say!! I hope I live through it. I cannot find a new doc to take me unfortunately.
LEANNA: Can I assume you have already been to the Suboxone.com website and contacted all the Suboxone doctors in your area?
If I was you, I would go to the ER and tell them the situation. You shouldn't have to be going cold turkey.
When Drs keep changing your meds around it has a very bad effect on a persons body because your body is used to having the same things in it everyday and as for people being weak it is a very hard job to come off of opiates without help if you were ever a addict you would know this. You don't cut a person down because they take Suboxon or Subutex to get off of opiates people make bad decisions everyone does it's just this one affected there Health and for at least wanting to be clean again is really great these people are not someone that you think ars bad they come from all backgrounds of life so don't hurt what they are wanting to do you should help them
Jim you are a wannabe you loser bet you work on the trash truck
Leanna, I went on the Buprenorphine website and found a few Drs in my area that emailed me saying that they had reviewed my report and said that they can help me, and one Dr is from the place where my Dr quit and the clinic gave me a 1 month supply of my meds. They must have just hired him so I called there and the girl got kind of s***ty with me saying since you were released I needed to talk to the manager, so she switched me to her phone and I got her voicemail - so I said that this Dr that worked there emailed me that he could care for me and I was to call and make appt to talk to him, but I never got a phone call back from the manager yet. I have 3 other Drs that said they would see me, but being on disability I don't have the money at the moment to see one of them until I get my check on the 3rd. So I was going thru withdrawals and I ended up back on drugs I did not want to be on, but the clinic gave me no other choice and I have had 2 strokes already and my family Dr said that if I go thru withdraws I could have another stroke and die and I want to live for a long time. But go on the Buprenorphine website and see if you can find a Dr in your area. I am sure if you will keep your Dreams and Hopes up someday they will come true I promise.
Jim ... BS. Why do you even come to this page? Do you feel better than others hiding behind your computer? Judging vs helping or stating out of it? Like are you ashamed you wear women's clothing? Trust me, no one would judge, and I am pretty sure you are not what you say you are. If you do wear women's clothing no one here would judge. The only crime I feel would be sexual molesters. So why don't you go to your fetish page and get support for your closet habits? People become addicted for a number of reasons. You should not judge until you have been in those shoes. God bless you and pray you are not judged as harshly when you die.
absolutely incorrect. the naloxone (although has less affinity for the mu receptor) still completely weakens the bupe by the time it hits you. SOME people do not have any trouble because they dont produce the enzyme that makes the naloxone active, while some DO. Therefor, for those of us who DO have it, we are getting the precipitated withdrawal punishment meant for only those who try to abuse the drug EVERY TIME. Hope that clears it up for you.
Re: Jim (# 1)
They are NOT the same thing at all. Do a little research before answering questions that people need educated and correct responses to.
Re: Jim (# 9)
They are NOT the same thing at all. Do a little research before answering questions that people need educated and correct responses to. Just because they both contain bupe doesn't make them the same at all when on3 haa Naloxene in it which is the blocker that keeps people from abusing other opiates. If you take Subutex which contains no Naloxene an addict can use opiates and get their desired high. If they use opiates they can then take Subutex right after. Niw here comes the difference with suboxone. One u take it u cannot use other opiates because they will be blocked from your receptors. If god forbid ur uneducated on this subject like yourself and take opiates and suboxone u will put yourself into precipitated withdrawal. What causes the horrific withdrawal is the NALOXENE. Please educate yourself and for the love of God don't ever give anyone any advice on this subject. Now u mentioned u are an LPN and I'm sorry sir but that is an awful mistruth when you don't even know the difference between 2 drugs. Thank God LPNs are more butt wipers than anything and I'm guessing that's why u haven't been able to become and actual RN. Sadly u would have probably killed innocent people with ur ignorance and lack of intellect. Please stick to pumping gas or whatever menial job u actually truly have..smh
Re: DOC (# 304)
I agree. Everyone's tolerance and habits are different and require differences in treatment. The sad reality is so many people abuse the drugs made to help, so it makes it that much more difficult to get the dosage ur body needs. Ur metabolism alone plays a huge role. Have u thought of trading subutex for methadone? At least they will continue to increase ur dosage until u let them know when u are comfortable.
Re: skelit0re (# 301)
Which enzyme would that be exactly? I'm not being sarcastic. I'm truly interested bcuz I can't find any research confirming that. I do like to learn new things and if I am incorrect on anything I've said I am happy to be corrected.
Re: kkh (# 290)
Ur response was very insightful. I couldn't have said it better myself. I pity Jim.
Re: Jim (# 9)
Yea when you do mess up and get addicted to opiates your body needs it to function is the issue
Re: Jim (# 9)
It don't make anyone any less of a man/woman because they have got to have something to make them feel like every other societal idea of normal. But I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion and everyone's smells like s*** but mine!! For you to get on here and try and bash someone because they need to take medicine daily, why don't you go into a diabetic forum and call those folks weak? Instead of trying to bash folks why don't you? Since you must've found the proven perfect way to get clean without the maintenance program why don't you open a program and lead people there???
I live in Tennessee and became pregnant while under a suboxone/subutex Dr's care. I was told that they had a doctor there that was a tenncare doctor and another one became a tenncare doctor. I am 8 months pregnant and can't afford my visit is it legal for them to turn me away?
Re: Cheyenne (# 310)
Also, I've not been required to pay since I've been pregnant because I was u see the impression and have been told by several people and read that it is illegal for them to turn me away. I understand my medicine is covered it's the visit I'm being told suddenly isn't covered anymore.
