My Doc Will Not Refill My Xanax Im Feeling Sick (Page 4)

I was prescribed Prozac & Xanax 10 years ago by my psychiatrist for depression & severe panic attacks. He started me on 1mg 3 times a day. Around Dec 2005 he increased my daily dose to 1 mg - 4 times a day. I have been a patient of his now for 10 years where I see him every 3 months. Through the years, there has been a few times were I had to call to reschedule my appointment and a couple of times he had to do the same. He would call in my meds for the amount I would need to get me through to my next appointment. This month I had an appointment for May 27th I called to reschedule due to transportation. I do not drive now and my ride canceled on me. so, I rescheduled my app. for June 17th I then requested my meds be called in until my appointment, a 3 week supply. She said she would call me back when it was called in later that day. Not hearing anything I called back the next day to find out what was going on. I was told my doctor feels uncomfortable due to liability reasons to re-fill my medication, until I see him again in June. I asked her what about the liability to take me off medication I have been taking for 10 years? She told me to go to my primary physician to get my meds. I told her my primary care doctor will not prescribe me those medications without my medical records from this office and I just signed a medical release form a few days ago at my first appointment with this new primary doctor, so she told me to go to an urgent care if my symptoms became to uncomfortable for me to deal with!! I had enough xanax to last me until today. I took my last xanax this morning and I am already starting to feel sick, my head feels cloudy, I feel like I'm getting the flu. My heart is racing, I'm feel really anxious & closed in. Has anyone out there gone off xanax cold turkey what more should I expect? I don't understand how a doctor can prescribe medication like this for 10 years and just make you stop so suddenly it doesn't seem fair. I have lost trust in my doctor now and I don't think I can continue to be his patient anymore. I am scared and I don't know who to turn too.

The bad thing about Xanax is even taking it as prescribed you can start having withdrawal symptoms before the next dose is due. This can start as early as one week after starting Xanax. This medication has its uses for sure but for long time usage it can be a nightmare. Maybe talking to your doctor about a longer acting benzodiazapene might be worth a try. I know there are a lot of people that use it long term but the problem lies in running out too soon and dealing with the dangerous withdrawal effects. Stopping Xanax has to be a gradual and monitored procedure. I wish you the best in your journey. Be safe and God bless.

My shipment came on thev20th at 11am, my Ambulane came on the 19th at 1pm. Am I mad at friends didn't help me yes, I would find another doctor, it sounds like they don't want to deal with you. Yes, I understand the withdrawal from Zanax. I have been on it since 05 due to up other illness. Last week I ran out and had 4 days until my next refill. I knew I wasn't gonna make it. I threw up 2/12 days and then my brother came to see about me. The last thing I knew was a paramedic hollering at me and pulling me off the floor. I had a siezures , which I don't remember. All this drama over a 1.98 prescription, I had to sit in Er for I Er 6hrs, after all the scans they said I was fine I'm almost out again. This drug has taken over my life, the joy of life and pushed all my fiends away. It really got bad when My schnauzers passed, the mynBest Friend along with findin a way to bury him, do I want off yes, but can ai , I'm afraid Zillow have another siezure and die from aspirating in my longs from the vomit.

I spent a week in the local 7 Eleven sized Hospital just getting restored. I was diagnosed "Walking Critical" after a Cold Turkey attempt. Vivid hallucinations

I had to come off Xanax last April. You can't do it . I have been on them all my life. You can't eat, sleep. Then you are in hell I really mean that you see things that aren't there you hear music . You see things burning if I have to die I will never go through that again.

5mg Of Methadone is nothing. I wouldnt worry about that.

My heart goes out to you. I was prescribed Xanax at age 17. I have severe anxiety disorder. (GAD) I AM 54 and need this medication just to function. My Drs through the years cut me off and Benzo withdrawal can kill you. My best friend was 66 and died because she got cut off. She had panic attacks anxiety disorder and had agoraphobia. I am in the same position now and need this medication. I lost my husband and mother 3 weeks apart. I found a new Dr but now he is going to take me off it. I am scared too. I need this like a diabetic needs insulin. The Drs just go by what they read instead of the patient. Sad but very true. I am also needing advise. I have been through Benzo withdrawal and it's awful. Hard on the heart, shaking, lack of appetite, everything in the brain is impacted.

I too have been forced to quit my Xanax ER cold turkey. I haven’t had any in a week. So I am feeling with drawl symptoms and anxiety/panic symptoms.

FYI Dilantin is an anti seizure medication. Evidently given to decrease chances of having another seizure.

When was the last time you had visited this Doc? I ask because he could have only provided a 6 month prescription without a new one being written. Good thing you found a new Doc too! Be careful on Xanax, and if you might want to get a full check up as the result of the last seizure

I had been taking Xanax for a year-and-a-half and right after Thanksgiving I went to pick up my refill and the pharmacy told me I had no more refills. I called my doctor and he said he doesn't write scripts for it after a year usually. Long story short, I fell over in the grocery store and had a seizure. My doctor then gave me FIVE Klonopin (one per day) to help. He now has me taking 300mg of dilantin (which I'm pretty sure is Latin for "doesn't do crap." I went to another doctor and he wrote me a Rx for 90 xanax right there on the spot. He said said is pretty much the worst pill you can quit cold turkey. He also told me to report that doctor for not tapering me off of the xanax.

Search 'alprazolam' on Rxlist. Highlight- Consumer: Source Rxlist Medscape. Go to the bottom and hit next to page 2. "What are side effects of alprazolam?" READ. Enough said! Just because you didn't have those particular side effects doesn't mean someone else won't. Nobody suffers from every side effect. If you were half as smart as you claim you'd know that but then again you know more then the doctors.

Try Benadryl. It helped me when my doctor stopped my Xanax. It is the closest thing OTC you will find honey. Please talk to someone. Please do not hurt yourself lovie... Trust me it is NOT WORTH IT...

I've been on xanax for 5 yrs. As of today, tbd dr took my refills away. Someone tell me what to do? No one cares... The flippin drug laws in fl are horrid and no I do NOT get any from any other dr. I did go to er, was admitted for mastoid infection that has my whole system in a whirl. I was told it could go to my brain n spinal cord. With this being done I hated that florida red flagged me...so the dr refused my xanax? I'm nearly 60 and this is going to kill me. Can I get something otc? Thanks.
