Morphine user 145 ER, Norco 10/325 6 per day for a severed ulnar nerve for 23 years. Just had a neurostimulator implanted and weened down so far to 30mg am and 15mg afternoon with prn Norco, 3-5 daily. I'm taking weening slowly but the answer to a lot of the above problems could be solved by use of a neurostimulator. ## I am very glad that it's helping you, and reducing your dependence on the medications, however, as with everything else, it isn't viable for everyone that's in pain, and it doesn't work for everyone that tries it. Ref: Deep Brain Stimulation Information The FDA warns that opiates, such as Morphine, and Norco, carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. 1 REPLY UpdatedI've been on hydrocodone and morphine ER for many years. Last year I got up off of the morphine and was just taking hydrocodone. Now I have a scheduled surgery coming up on my back. My pain medication is not enough and I have seven days till I get my refill. I thought maybe I could resume my morphine ER, one in the morning and one at night, as I didn't finish that prescription when I stopped taking them. Will that be OK? ## What has your doctor advised? It is very important to take only medications that your doctor approves, especially before surgery. The FDA warns that opioids carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation. and dry mouth. 1 REPLY Updatedi want to reduce dependence on pain meds (6 yrs. so my Doc ordered me morphine sulphate 10 mg capsules instead of the MS 15 mg ER. Insurance won't approve the change due to cost & now while the Doc & insurance are arguing about it I'm running out of MS tonite. Doc hasn't called back. I do have some 5/325 hydrocodone but not sure how much to take in lieu of the MS 15 ER. ## Have you had any luck, yet? I know how frustrating it is, when your insurance is controlling your treatment, rather than your doctor. The FDA warns that Morphine carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Ref: Morphine Information
1 REPLY Updatedis 1 15mg morphime IR stronger than 2 10mg 325 oxycodone tablets ## Yes there stronger ! Morphine has a high acting effect on the neural pathway and does a much better job for relief from what ails us all ! Check a pharm scale the oxy is like 6 or 7 on th list morphine is 2 ! ## hydromorphine 32mgEX what do they use for breakthrew pain..? ## Actually no, Oxycodone is stronger than Morphine by one and a half times. In other words for each 10mg dosage of Oxycodone, you'd need to take 15mgs of Morphine to be equivalent. You can learn more Morphine details here and you can learn more Percocet details here. Additionally, the Acetaminophen in the Percocet potentiates the action of the Oxycodone to help it work better. oldtimefiend, there isn't any specific medication that has to be us...
9 REPLIES UpdatedI used to take Oxycodone 15mgs, 5X's a day. After 5 or so years, they stopped working on my pain. My pain management doctor put me on Morphine Sulfate IR 30mgs, 4X's a day. They work great. One problem, I'm up on and off all night. I'm assuming it's the MS IR 30's because I never had a problem with sleep. Does anyone know what I can do to get at least a few hours of straight sleep? ## Maybe try an over the counter sleep aid like zzzquil, unisom, etc or you could try some melatonin and see if that helps. Hope you find something that works for you! If you do could you post back with what you used to woo get some sleep? Best of luck on getting the sleep you need! ## Thanks Jason. I'll get some Melatonin tomorrow. It's funny....I first get sleepy, fall asleep...
19 REPLIES UpdatedHow many hours of pain relief should i get from one morphine sulfate 30mg ir? My recent MRI showed more bulging discs in my back. My pain is worse now. I cant sleep from the lower back pain. My doctor cut my script from 80 a month to 60 with no reason why. Now I have no quality of life. I can cry. Now my life will be laying around not able to have a decent pain free day. ## Did you ask your doctor why they lowered the amount prescribed? 1 REPLY UpdatedI am going on a trip and would love to enjoy a few drinks with friends. How long does morphine remain in your system and is it safe to have maybe 2 drinks WHILE taking it? ## I'm on the same dose of morphine I have to be honest I drink on them all the time I try not to get to drunk when I get to go out and get a few drinks but it will make you black out if you're not careful with your alcohol in take it also has to do with your size and tolerance to both the alcohol and drugs just be safe and tell your friends that you can't drink and definitely don't drive ## The problem with combining an opiate with alcohol is that they both cause depression of the central nervous system which results in dizziness, drowsiness, imbalance, lower heart rate, lower breath rate, confusion, ...
2 REPLIES UpdatedI was on 60 mg time released Morphine 3× a day. The pain clinic got mad and released me because i would not get shots in my back, leaving me with 2 refills. So i went back to my family dr with a 1 month fill on my pills. Could not get in anywhere, i got screwed and now am going through withdrawals after being on Morphine for 6 years and Vicodin for about 8 years. I know it's hard with pain but to me it's just not worth it. The dr's are not caring, just leaving me to suffer. I feel like i have been hit by a truck then beat almost to death, u could not begin to know how bad this is unless u have went through it. I wish everyone well. You cant stay on the pain meds forever. My advice, don't get on pain meds. I'm done and will never take another one. Good luck. ## H...
1 REPLY UpdatedI was told that the blue is used to help stop your heart..my daughter is 4 months old an she was sent home from the hospital on pallative an comfort care..an they gave me blue morphine..is it true blue morphine is used to stop you heart? ## The color has nothing to do with it, any medication, especially a narcotic such as Morphine, can cause death if someone overdoses on it or too much is administered to them. Learn more Morphine details here. Used properly in the right dosing amounts, Morphine is a narcotic analgesic that is very effective at relieving pain. Are there any other questions or comments? ## That’s a ridiculous statement, blue tinted morphine is to stop the heart. How about idiocy will stop the heart it will also get u ran over if u play in the middle of a busy highwa...
2 REPLIES UpdatedI gave the lady I take care of .5ml of morphine while her nurse was there because she was in pain from being moved so much (she cant move on her own) and her daughter is accusing me almost two weeks later of "drugging" her because she had become really tired and hadnt been eating much (she was refusing and turning her head away). I was curious about how long that much would have effected her? ## No, while it may last a bit longer than usual in elderly people, since their bodies sometimes process medications slowly, it would not last almost 2 weeks. As a matter of fact, this Research Article shows that the processing of Morphine is not affected by being elderly, so a dose for her shouldn't last any longer than it does for a younger, healthy person. Is she on any other medicat...
1 REPLY UpdatedI have sciatic nerve damage as well as degenerating discs among some other issues. I went two weeks without working because of being stubborn and not getting checked. After 4 doctors i finally found one that knew whatbhe was talking about. No i didnt diagnose myself either. Seemed no matter what one doctor would do nothing would help. After a few visits i changed doctors. As soon as i told my current doctor what was going on he fidnt even hesitate. Looked at me and told me what was wrong then started ordering xrays and tests. Morphine was helping at first and after a few adjustments because it seemed to not be helping, he put me on dilaudin or how ever you spell it. The down fall is he is requesting i talk to a surgeon. Whats your thought? ## You aren't going to find a doctor who wi...
1 REPLY UpdatedI've found a light blue, oblong, fairly large (approx 20mm wide) pill. C25 embossed on one side, and a line dividing it in two on the other side. ## what is a blue tablet c25 indicated for ## Yeah I'm having trouble finding a definite match on this one as well. Can you tell me what country you are from? That might help to narrow some things down. For example, usually tablets within the USA are easier to pin down because their markings are regulated. There is also a chance that this one could either be a really new marking, an over the counter product, or a prescription med outside the USA. Are there any other details which you could share? Packaging? Manufacturer? ## i am in south africa ## Hi Roy, I'm in south africa. And don't have the packaging as it was left in my lo...
43 REPLIES UpdatedI was told Friday by my Pain Management Doctor at my monthly appointment that the DEA was implementing a new law dictating to doctors on how much pain medication they could prescribe per patient per day. It could be equal to no more than 120 mg of Morphine per day per patient and they had to comply within 3 months for all of their patients. I am trying to find out as much information on this as possible. I don't know if my Pain Management Doctor is stating fact or if he is just running scared and if he is stating fact, I don't know if this is federal or state (Alabama) mandated. I spoke directly with the Southeastern division of the DEA in Atlanta this morning and they are not aware of any law of this nature coming into effect and I also contacted another pain clinic locally tha...

287 REPLIES UpdatedI am prescribed 60mg of morphine sulfate twice daily and 30mg of immediate release morphine every eight hours. About one to two hours before the next dose is due I become very sleepy. When I take my dose it makes me wide awake. Why does it work this way on me ## Hello, Trish! How are you? There's no real explanation for it, that's just how some opiates work in some people that take them. That's part of the reason that some people become addicted, they like the rush of energy they get from them, so they keep taking more and more to keep experiencing it. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I ca...
2 REPLIES UpdatedDoctors thar accept medicaid in houston, tx area that prescribe oxy and morphine ## Do they really accept Medicaid? ## Hello, Lisa! How are you? I'm sorry, but there is no listing of doctors according to what they will or will not prescribe that I can refer to for you. And due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if you require such medications on a long-term, ongoing basis, you'll need to see a specialist. Do you currently have a PCP that may be able to refer you to someone? If so, that would most likely be the easiest way to find the help you need. Can anyone suggest a good doctor in that area? ## There are no new regulations that state you must see a Pain Management Dr for chronic pain. Although it may be very difficult to find a pcp who will treat a new p...

2 REPLIES UpdatedDoes anyone know a doctor in Houston tx that perscribe morphine please! ## Hello, Sandra! How are you? I'm sorry, but there is no listing of doctors according to what they will or will prescribe that I can refer to for you. Do you currently have a PCP that you see regularly? If so, getting a referral from them will likely be the easiest way to find the help you need. ## Hi Sandra..I see a dr in Houston, Morphine is hard to get. You may want to try dilaudid instead. I know of one but you must be on the up and up, have mri's, xrays, past medication records from pharmacy and records from previous pain dr. get back with me if you meet this criteria ## Hi Ann, I don't meet that criteria really but I am 25, I have been seeing a regular doctor and all they can prescribe me is Norco...

3 REPLIES UpdatedI have ben using Paregoric for years abd it was taken off the American Market . I still am in need as it is the only thing that helps me. Where can I purchase it in Canada ## From what I could gather, The manufacturer "Ranbaxy" of India is the only source for this tincture of opium, but please correct me if I'm wrong. As another possible solution here in the U.S., there are specialized pharmacists called "compounding pharmacists" who know how to make things of this nature. If you have such a company in your area, I'd think it would be very simple for them to compound "tincture of opium" by merely diluting ordinary liquid morphine sulfate to the strength of the prepared tincture. Keep in mind that you'll want to make sure you find legal and legitimate ...
