Metoprolol Withdrawal (Page 7)
(Newest replies first)

i've been taking metoprolol for several years as partial treatment for high blood pressure. through diet and exercise, i've lowered my BP to the point my doctor says drop the metoprolol.
i did, 3 days ago, and i'm soooo tired, dizzy, irritable, and my vision is blurred.
is this withdrawal? how long will it last?
i remember starting this medication was terrible to get used to. it appears that stopping it is just as bad.

I’m on Prilosec. They did a scope before they prescribed it. I had a ridiculous amount of stomach acid. They are doing another one because while the Prilosec helps, it’s not helping enough. I’ve never had stomach acid issues in my entire life. This medication is just awful!
Re: Juliya (# 2433)
Are you on meds? I’m afraid they’ll just want to throw meds at me and not listen. What did you tell them you were feeling? I would prefer they investigate instead of throw meds
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2431)
I have an appointment with gastro tomorrow on March 8th. Since my stomach acid hasn’t let up yet they are going to do an endoscopy.
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2431)
I have gastric issues too they have subsided there is a good connection between gut and heart and breathing issues also come with it. Now anxiety can also cause gastric issues . Yes i am so tired of being anxious all the time one good day and two bad days. Staying alone in a hotel for 14 days is not helping as well. How are you doing?
Re: RV (# 2430)
I’m having such weird gastric issues and I’m wondering if THATS causing some of these heart issues since it can agitate the vagus nerve. I might have to make an appt with gastro.
You DO NOT have ALS :)
I’m having a weird night but I think it’s the gastric issues making me the think it’s the heart. Every time I take an ecg heart is normal sinus rhythm and not high. I also sometimes feel like I’m not breathing good or it’s a weird sensation I can’t describe but ecg shows all normal. This is all just absurd
Lost muscle mass as well and down the als rabbit hole i go!
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2427)
Its usually around 120-130 and diastolic around 80s this was after metoprolol. Sometimes i am anxious it goes around 140 90 but after a few deep breaths comes down to 130 ish. What about you?
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2427)
My normal blood pressure has always ran low. So even when I get the spikes from metoprolol withdrawals it’s still within normal range.
Re: RV (# 2426)
What is your usual BP reading?
Same with you, Juliya? What is your usual BP reading?
Do you guys ever get little bouts of sinus arrhythmia?
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2425)
I feel like i have developed some form of dysautonomia digestive issues , insomnia , on & off shortness of breath , pvc. Does it ever get better? Coincidentally today is my 90th day of that awful med. And i have been worse off it i think
Re: Juliya (# 2420)
I haven’t :( I’m part terrified to and I can’t breastfeed while on it so I’m working on weaning. I might have to go cold turkey. I want to try the med this week.
I also got my first Covid vaccine yesterday son I was waiting to make sure I didn’t have a reaction before I started a new med.
I keep getting these little spikes in the middle of the day where it’s like adrenaline and 130 HR. So I def want to start the med to see if it settles everything down. Other than that, my HR hasn’t been too bad
How are you doing?
RV- dr said they aren’t even concerned about PVCs until your burden hits about 15-20% of your daily HR and that’s a CRAPPPPP ton.
Re: Juliya (# 2423)
Hahha i moved to singapore today and staying all alone in the hotel room . Does your spo2 fluctuate to low 90s? How are you doing today?
Re: RV (# 2422)
Your heart beats ALOT per day so I think it’s ALOT PVCs. Like a drastically ridiculous amount!
How many skipped beats in a day is okay? I have been having a lot of them lately! Hate this so much
Re: Al (# 2409)
Well I hope you have a better time than the rest of us getting off. This stuff does crazy things to your body.
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2417)
Did you start the ivabridine yet?
Re: Juliya (# 2416)
Ah nice! Is there a way to check gaba and glutamate activity i was wondering how to balance the excessive glutamate activity since i have been spending close to 5-6 hours googling symptoms and i want to stop that
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2417)
Man i can totally related my hr jumps after having food. From last 2-3 days my hr has jumped 205 bpm for a minute after getting up from laying it feels so tiring and my doctor dismissing it as anxiety. How long does the elevsted hr stay? Also, my previous reply just went through now
Re: Juliya (# 2416)
Was doing good this morning and then I ate a snack and after felt these dizzy/adrenaline sensations. My heart is now sitting at 125/130 and I feel awful!!!
it’s like I could barely tolerate any amount of food and I feel crazy, dizzy, weird sensations, adrenaline and now heart rate at 130. It’s hard not to freak out and not think I’m having a heart attack
Re: RV (# 2415)
I have a continuous glucose monitor. I use the free style libre. So I check it all day long.
