Metoprolol Withdrawal (Page 6)

i've been taking metoprolol for several years as partial treatment for high blood pressure. through diet and exercise, i've lowered my BP to the point my doctor says drop the metoprolol.
i did, 3 days ago, and i'm soooo tired, dizzy, irritable, and my vision is blurred.
is this withdrawal? how long will it last?
i remember starting this medication was terrible to get used to. it appears that stopping it is just as bad.
Re: RV (# 2452)
Oh no I was definitely bothered and scared by the weight loss. But it’s evening back out slowly but surely.
Re: Davet (# 2453)
Hey Davet i know you have not replied to me but give it sometime it should return to pre-metoprolol days but will definitely take sometime
Re: Verwon (# 3)
I’m coming off of metoprolol ER 25 mg daily. My heartrate is higher than what I’m used to seeing. Will it level back out?
Re: Juliya (# 2449)
Were you not bothered with the weight loss? Did you go and got any other tests done for the weight loss? I have lost 4-5 pounds in 2 months and i am getting scared of the a** . Sorry for asking you again and again i am just terrified
Re: RV (# 2450)
I’m
Pretty sure it’s a watch glitch. It doesn’t always happen but I’ve seen it happen before when wearing an oximeter and the oximeter never changed. But since I just started the new med, I’ll call and just make sure it wasn’t really doing
That
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2448)
Have an apple watch series 3 haven’t seen something like this only twice it happened hr went from 120 to 199 for a second then came back down and that was in the middle of panic attack.
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2448)
I have an Apple Watch series 6. I have not had that issue. There are side effects when starting any medication until the body adjusts to it being there, which can take a couple of weeks. If you’re worried call your cardiologist to check since you have loop recorder.
Re: RV (# 2446)
Do you or Juliya Have an Apple Watch?
I started the med today and tonight at dinner my watch was skipping around, 35, 75, 105, 45 then back to the normal 90 HR and I’m
Pretty sure it was glitching. But since I started the med today I’m kinda freaking that maybe it’s making my heart go crazy. I really think it’s just the watch because it’s happened before but here we go with something else to stress about.
Has your watch done this? If you have a watch
Re: Juliya (# 2444)
I guess I’m just worried because of what we went through with metoprolol. I have ptsd from that LOL
IST can’t get worse and some people choose to go Unmedicated but I think I’d rather try to see if it will reset the sinus node. Somedays for me are really good & normal, and others like yesterday my HR is overall higher. So annoying
I just don’t want to get addicted to another med and have a whole crazy wean off process and then horrible rebound symptoms.
Re: 5 (# 2442)
Pvc are gone and now i am worrying about als . Lost a bit of weight and muscle because of hr spiking and now my right leg feels weird
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2443)
If it helps I don’t see why you wouldn’t. I mean no sense in constantly worrying. Or developing a worsening heart condition.
Re: RV (# 2440)
It’s not ALS. Lol you’re silly
Re: Juliya (# 2439)
I’m think I’m going to start the ivabradine tomorrow. I’m soooooo nervous
Re: RV (# 2422)
Take magnesium vitamin a good dose that stopped my pvc’s
Re: Juliya (# 2439)
Yeah I will. All This started after I had my gallbladder removed :::insert eye roll::: I didn’t have acid issues before
Also I had my first vaccine a weeks ago today but today and about two days ago I’ve had body aching. Could it be the vaccine a week later? I didn’t have any reaction right after I had the vaccine
Re: Juliya (# 2438)
Makes sense. I am still in the als rabbit hole dont know if its my anxiety or what been rough couple of weeks. How are you guys doing?
Re: Txcandy1 (# 2437)
Yes. Feeling like something is stuck in your throat is a GI issue. I would make an appointment with a GI doctor just to get it looked at and checked out. Too much acid build up can cause a lot of permanent issues if it’s not taken care of. The acid that comes up from your stomach can damage other organs over time.
Re: RV (# 2436)
Only about 30% of people have a bad reaction to it. It really all depends on your body. My mother is on a beta blocker. She takes bisprolol for high blood pressure and has been on it for over a decade. She’s never had an issue stopping. That 30% isn’t significant enough for them to do studies on because the vast majority don’t have any issues that’s why no doctors believe it’s from the medication. It’s a sad reality really.
Re: Juliya (# 2435)
Did you feel like you had a hard time swallowing with the acid? Not hard time but that it feels weird?
I keep having these weird sensation when I swallow like something is stuck and I’ve tried to drink so much water and nothing. It’s starting to freak me out.
I don’t know if I should go back to ENT or make appt with gastro.
Re: Juliya (# 2435)
How terrible is this medicine ! I dont even know if i’ll be ever over the withdrawal or whatever it is anytime soon. How come my parents and other people who are also on mild dose of beta blockers dont have any symptoms but a 26 year old is suffering so badly? how are you guys doing?
