Metoprolol Withdrawal (Page 59)

Updated

i've been taking metoprolol for several years as partial treatment for high blood pressure. through diet and exercise, i've lowered my BP to the point my doctor says drop the metoprolol.

i did, 3 days ago, and i'm soooo tired, dizzy, irritable, and my vision is blurred.

is this withdrawal? how long will it last?

i remember starting this medication was terrible to get used to. it appears that stopping it is just as bad.

Guys and Gals...I cant take this much longer. I have had a terrible deep ear ache that radiates from my neck to ear to head. Went to a doc and it is not an ear infection. Im also having severe back pain. Weakness is still there. Dizziness is somewhat better. I just feel completely hopeless. Im a little over two months off (I took a sliver dec 29) im sick and tired of it..

Sandra I am CONVINCED you are having thyroid issues. Please get levels checked if you haven't already. M messes with thyroid.

Hi Sandra...just like everyone else...no motivation, anxiety which causes me to shake both internally and externally, trouble sleeping due to pounding heart. I find for me if I push myself hard one day I end up paying for it over the next 3-5 days...I will say that I pushed myself pretty hard this past Saturday and finally this afternoon I feel somewhat decent which is a small improvement in the length of bad days...I also find the mornings the hardest and it seems to get better in the evening.

CJJ, Yes! Perfect description of my life. Like a switch is thrown around 430pm, I suddenly feel better, then the whole circus starts again around 4-5 am. And you PAY for 'good' days, always wondering whe the other shoe will drop. SO frustrating.

And of course towards evening, even tho I am feeling better, I'm so worn out from the physical misery of the day that I wear out very fast and have to go to bed early. It really is a no win situation.

That's a total symptom of hyperthyroid as I have discovered. Look in the mirror when you are next feeling Awful, stick out your tongue, and see if it vibrates . Another indication of hyper thyroid.

Lexapro does work quickly, but much depends on the dose frequency of administration (We usually write for one tablet daily, regardless). I rescrubbed it for one my office staff who had been taking Zoloft but complained it didn't help with the really bad days (she has one or two common phobias, too) I didn't write for the Zoloft, but, considering her symptoms, etc. it was a reasonable choice. I don't think she went into details about her "bad days," but we became friends to the point when sIn about a week she was feeling better and then better still.,10mg QD is enough for her, but some patients need from 5 to 20mg QD.

Hey Lauren, you are not on any other Meds correct?

No, just the thyroid calming tincture and a few natural supplements. Big pharma and I apparently do NOT play well together .

I cant tolerate this thyroid calming compound. Its making me shaky and feel yucky :( im only taking 5-10 drops 2-3 times a day. Man I am reallllly sensitive to everything!

If it doesn't work for you Sandra, don't use it anymore. I have learned for sure that one size does not fit all! M has made my HYPER sensitive to SO many things....

Is that what it is? The M made us sensitive? I dont think everything bothered me before.

Yes, it totally agravates the sympathetic nervous system and thyroid ( all inter connected)
SO TIRED of al of this. So hard to maintain hope.

And fyi, I would recommend l-tryptophan 500-1500 mg nightly instead of ANY big pharma antidepressant compund. Instead of reusing the seratonin in your brain over and over again like the big pharma meds make you do, l-tryptophan builds it fresh and increases it naturally.

I agree. It's like after the M I'm allergic to everything. I'm lucky the lisinopril works for me, but I started that years ago before the M disaster. I'm trying to deal with high cholesterol. Allergic reaction to Lipitor. Allergic reaction to red yeast rice. Allergic reaction to ground flax seeds. Come on now... I didn't used do be allergic to everything! I've always had a sensitivity to medicines but not to this extent. My eyes feel like they're swelling out of my head and my sinuses feel inflamed. And achy muscles in my arms. I've already changed my diet and exercise and now I'm just eating oatmeal every day. At least I'm not allergic to oatmeal
Lol. All of these allergic symptoms were accompanied by weirdo head again and chest pains so there you go... M like symptoms 8 months later. Goddam Metoprolol really did screw up my system. So sad.
