I have been taking methadone tablets,15mg-3 times a day, for back pain. I also have some depression issues as well, The methadone seems to make me in a good mood as well as taking my back pain away. I do have many mood swings lately where I go from very good feeling to very bad very quickly sometimes, This usually happens when the methadone starts wearing off. I think I may need to see a psyhciatrist about this. I do the methadone for pain, but maybe I need something else for my depression, I also have suicidal thoughts sometimes too, I have heard of mood stabilizers, Do these work? If anyone could suggest a medication , It would be appreciated. My Taper story- BG: I was severely addicted to pain pills and started taking methadone in a MMT Clinic in August of 2014. Before I knew it i went all the way up to 75mg of liquid daily. I became tired of being chained to the clinic having to do U/A's and counseling weekly. No one in my life knew of my addiction to pills or that I went to MMT clinic in the first place so I had to constantly lie to everyone where I was going to get my dose daily, it became to much. Ok so get this, my husband and I started going to the methadone clinic everyday. Well the first day we went we got urine tested and saliva tested! Now i know for a fact we both had pot and opiates. But i also had oxy in my system along with the other 2. We both failed the urine test; my husband for marijuana and opiates, and myself for marijuana, oxy, and opiates. So next we take the saliva test and we were both on high mgs of morphine, percocets, dilladid, and opana. Along with the marijuana. Now here's the tricky and unbelievable part: My husband failed for everything he was supposed to fail for. I called my methadone clinic and told them today was probably my last day, that i lost job and couldn't afford to pay. They charge $10 a day or pay weekly. Well all they said was, "oh im sorry u can't get no one to help u. Call me in the morning to see if you've figured anything out", not even suggesting a patient assistance program to help me with financial aid until I'm back on feet. I was shocked all they want is money. I've on this program 2 yrs doing great, and just like that my money at a stand still.... and clinic wont dose without payment. I need a Dr that excepts medicare as payment. I now am paying for methadone at an outpatient clinic because my insurance does not cover. I am a severe and chronic pain patient on my way towards a fibromyalgia diagnosis. I just moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan and have priority health/medicaid. Do any of you know a good Doctor whos not shy about prescribing opiates??? I'm tired of being labeled a drug seeker when the drugs i seek ACTUALLY WORK. I don't feel high off them, I'm not a junkie, I just NEED to manage my pain levels because they get debilitating. Is Methadone completely out of your system in 72 hours, or does it take longer? Since Methadone seems to last longer that 4 - 6 hours, I was just wondering? ## Although your system can rid itself of the methadone within about 72 hours in most cases, traces of it will still be detected in your urine for up to 3 weeks...longer if you get a blood test. ## It took me 3 months to kick methodone. After that, I had paws for another 4 months. Don't get started on that evil stuff unless you plan to stay on it for life. It's by far the worst withdrawl ever. Beware, you have been warned. I have taken 100mg of methadone around 0600 then I took another 100 mg about an hour later. Now I have been taking .5 mg of klonopins about four times today...I don't feel imparied...I'm not nodding out....should I be concerned that I won't wake up? ## Possibly yes I've recently lost two friends that overdosed on benzodiazepines and opiates. I need to know if medicaid will pay for my methadone treatment in ky? ## It won't where I live. Medicaid hasn't been expanded here but even if you could get it the insurance won't cover mmt., only detox. ## @Margie, With seemingly ever-changing laws surrounding the dispensing and coverage of controlled substances, I think your best bet would probably be to contact a methadone clinic directly for more specific details on their protocol. It may be that you'd have to contact a number of different clinics and compare feedback. I have been a patient at compdrugs methadone clinic for 5 years. Never had dirty urines. I got 1 dirty 20 days ago and they took my dose from 185mg to 100 to nothing. 3 days. Is this legal and do I have a chance of fighting it. The doc. Dr. Alvin Pelt. is god at the clinic. Any ideas on what I can do would be welcome. I am on methadone and trazodone and i am getting a false/positive reading of speed on my urine tests at the clinic. Has anyone ever heard of that before? If so could u please send me an article about it so i can show my dr that these 2 drugs do that when taken together? Thank you. ## I too am on methadone and trazadone and combined they absolutely will give you a false positive on a drug tests. The positives may vary from methamphetamine to benzodiazepam to ecstasy. When I opened my pill bottle I accidently dropped quite a few of my methadone pills in the bathroom sink and they got all wet. Will this affect the potency of the pills? Thank you ## In a way, it could, because these is the possibility that they started to dissolve, so some of the medication was lost. However, unless they sat wet and were allowed to dissolve for a long time, the change should be minimal. Most tablets have a thin coating on the outside, even if they don't seem to when you look at them or feel them and the moisture may not have even made it past that coating. When you look at them, is it noticeable that they have been wet? If not, then you probably have nothing to worry about. They want to prescribe it to me for bad pain as insurance won't cover OxyContin or Codeine products anymore. ## Yes. By all means..being only on methadone to stay clean IS going to save your life not to mention being able to function normally..jobs etc.won't have to EVER chase illicit drugs again if you are serious about staying clean. Withholding medication as a form of punishment, my clinic will "Sanction" your dose for that day if 1 drug test you took 5 days ago comes back dirty. When you walk in that day they make you talk to the doctor. They then dip test you again on the spot. But even if your system is clear of the drug, if they still want to they can Sanction your dose for that day. At most clinics if you don't pass your test they raise your dose. This is Yuma, Arizona. I ran into the director of my old clinic. He said "giving or withholding medication as a form of punishment is illegal." I tried to find the law he was talking about to no avail.

I am a 31 yr.old mother of 3 wonderful girls! I am in the process of trying to find a doctor that prescribes methadone for pain. I live in Ohio and I do know that they do exist! I live in North Alabama and have been trying to find a local General Practitioner. I am running into the Dr.’s not accepting me when they find out I have a Pain Management Dr. I also have just been diagnosed with Breast Cancer and it’s important I get in to a Dr. The Doctors all make you fill out an application to become a patient and they decide if they will accept you, even though they advertise in local papers they are accepting new Patients. I see so many people with the same fears I have had in the past and still do. I am a P.A. And also a chronic pain sufferer. I have been on meds for 8 years and have the hardest times getting legal prescriptions filled. I actually derided twice myself with proper use of needed meds with no side effects. The only problem I had was extreme pain and ended up in the hospital after I got off meds due to NSAID use and other problems to the point where I was told to go back on opiates. I can help with withdrawal issues. I know little things that will have u off opiates in 4 days, but then u what about the pain u were taking opioda for in the first place?
