I AM A METHADONE MAINTAINANCE PATIENT, CLEAN FROM OXYCONTIN FOR THREE+ YEARS & I HAE PACKED ON 40 POUNDS! I AM RETAINING WATER & EXPERIENCE HORRIBLE CONSTIPATION...ANYONE WITH SIMILAR ISSUES OR TIPS TO HELP ME OR FIND THE CAUSE???
What about sweat ? I have never been one to sweat and it has only got worse. I have been on methadone for 3 years. I just started taking vitadone three days ago , was wondering if anyone knows if this will help me. I have a lot more energy and I'm sleeping better my only complaint is I feel like crap the next morning..
Your uneducated comment was neither helpful or warranted. Methadone saved my life and now I'm more than halfway through with my taper. I put myself back in school after the loss of my fiance and delightful little girls father. I now work in harm reduction and have helped so many people with medication assisted treatment. Obviously you don't know much because these medications are the new wave of treatment. Just as insulin is to a diabetic. Do some reading. Otherwise, stay off a page where people are looking for hope, not a$$holes. Have fun in your little box, but I suggest coming out of it. Addiction is a scientifically proven disease and there's plenty you can read or even watch, if need be.
Are you kidding, methadone is a drug that is very addictive. Lie to yourself if you want to but I'm sorry you're not drug free. All you have done is substitute one drug for another one. If you don't believe me try quitting and watch how you withdraw.
You absolutely will not lose any weight no matter how much you workout or eat clean until you're down to 30 mls or lower of methadone. I'm speaking from experience. I'm genetically tiny and after being 100-110 my entire life, I too shot up to 200 lbs! Which made me decide to taper off after 3 and a half years. I'm now on 50 from 120. So far I'm ok, just usual panic disorder and depression...which sucks. I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. Good luck girl!
Be careful taking Miralax everyday. There's multiple studies that have came out over the last year or so about the dangers of it. My son used to take it everyday to help with his Chrohns Disease, until we saw a news report about how bad it is. It was only texted for safety on people who used it for no more then a week. A quick google search will show you exactly why it's not safe.
Hi everyone, I'm wondering what everyone's thoughts are on Vitadone for weight loss? Or even Adderall?! Yes, I'm on methadone, been on for 7yrs. I was on 194mg - now after rehab and them drastically cutting me down to 70mg I'm a week I'm crawling back up and am at 110mg...not trying to go above 120 (still struggling with sleeping and getting sick in the night) Its been a God-send EXCEPT for the fact that in the last few yrs I've went from 115lbs to 200lbs!! Im 5'8" so 115 was definitely way too skinny for me. I've been on xanax as well for 12yrs. which is what I recently originally went to rehab for to get the clinic off my back and then they cut my dose down like that bc I was way over-doing it...I too know quite a few people to die from mixing met & benzos. I have terrible social anxiety, OCD and panic attacks so I've kind of come to a realization that I do need the benzos and am on 1mg of klonopin x2 a day (though I run out) I've ALSO been prescribed Adderall for the last year, which I've Not taken at all....(I make a ton of money off of it) BUT this weight gain is really getting me severly depressed and even suicidal at times so I'm thinking about taking the adderall again. I used to take it yrs ago pre-opiate addiction and was very skinny... Since I started opiates, methadone, all downers...I hate any uppers! :( Causes my anxiety to go thru the roof as you can imagine. No chance of coming off the met. any time soon and subox does not work for me. *I take Welbutrin and Trintellix for anti-depressants, and birth control... not sure if any of those could be stopping me from losing any weight.?
Any suggestions?!
miralax everyday is the simple effective answer, give it a day or two to start working and then you are set, have been taking oxy for inoperable ependymomaa of the spinal cord for 20 yrs and miralax has been a miracle drug for constipation
I had the same issue ! I havent been getting my period for 6 years. I think from using, then the methadone after...so i got an ultrasound and labs drawn. I was given this 10 day medication by my obgyn that will force my body to have a period. I hope it works im half way thru it. I also am tapering down from 80 mgs ..i will go down 4 mg of methadone every 14 days..so about 8mg a month. Ive heard you dont loose the weight until you are far below 40 mg. But the way the doctors say its methadone and the counselor says the doctors dont know what they are talking about..yeah that happens to me. You arent alone
Nutridone or Vitadone I believe is the name of the drug you are looking for.
Vitadone is available over the counter. U can also purchase it online. And also look it up, so u can read up on it.
It was encouraging to read about your experience. I was a chronic pain pt for a few years bcz of Ankylosing Spondylitis. I got into trouble with the meds bcz of my tolerance and ended up sick alot waiting for the next scripts....along with the vicious pain. I decided that a methadone clinic was the way 2 go. I have been happy with the choice except I have gone from 115lbs to 185lbs. and I have never had a weight problem. Was it easy 4 u to c a doc and for him/her 2 switch ur meds to a dose equal to the methadone? I am deathly afraid of withdrawl bcz ive nvr evr been as sick as that and I nvr want to be that way evr again. I also cannot handle this weight gain.
Thanks for reassuring me that the weight will come off and I will regain my confidence. The future is very bright!
I think it's Nutridone or Vitadone. It's not prescription though. You can order it online.
I stated before that once I tapered down from 150mgs to 40mgs my weight gain of 80lbs just started dropping off as fast as it came on. That was back in 2010. I'm once again back in treatment and this time instead of shooting straight up to a high dose I've kept it low, between 50 and 60. I found that it's enough to keep my cravings at bay, to keep me from withdrawals, and to keep me from needing those sugar fixes which was what really caused my weight gain before.
Yes, I'm on my taper now. I'm down 30 ml now and I feel great! A positive mindset never hurts!
The weight fell off literally! As soon as I stopped the methadone.
I went from a 12 to a 24 also.. it was bad really really bad.
If you want to lose the weight you have to I mean absolutely have to stop taking the methadone. Only way the weight gain will come off. Been here before! Good luck
You sat that now and I also said the same thing about rather being fat then all strung out on drugs. Well I went from about 120 to 170 on methadone. 50 pounds gained and I was SO UNHAPPY even though I was clean. Then I was put on Abilify and another 30+ weight gain!!! I went off of them and have been off for over 2 years but still not losing any weight!!! I fractured both my heels severely when I was in my active addiction by being in an abandoned hotel and running into the wrong people. So I went over out the 2nd floor window and landed standing position bare foot on concrete. Well obviously i fell over and screamed like I never screamed in my life. The orthopedist surgeon said in his 25 years of seeing fractures he's never seen one as bad as mine. They weren't sure I would be able to walk again. So after being bed ridden for 3 months then wheelchair for about 3 or 4 months my feet didn't heal properly. So I have limited motion which causes me to barely get the grocery shopping done without extreme pain.....let alone exercise. I've seriously been considering going off the methadone and see if I can lose some at least 40 lbs. then maybe it won't hurt so much on my feet bc I'm so overweight?
You're not alone. I haven't had my period since starting MMT and I know many others who have the same issue
