Addiction to these Pills HELL YEAH! Anyone who don't think they are addicted do as James says and quit by day 3 you will notice big time by day 10 you will be sorry you ever took one of these things. they are more addictive then some of the s*** I've taken in the past not to be bringing up any names of drugs. I'm an addict and take these fr pain because they are the only med's I've been able to manage with overdosing myself to feel more. It don't do any good to take 3-4 of these in one dose and that keeps me level. I dread the day I have to face a dryout from this medication.

Mary, I have done all I can to not retaliate against you. I know bupernephorine has been around for a long time. Before suboxone and the DATA 2000 I used .3 mg IM IV's. Suboxone is not approved in the US for pain relief. That is why Docs need to get a special DEA # to prescribe it. Just realize, you are playing with fire. I have medical problems too but I am not so angry and bitter and I always say, these are my personal experience. Another suggestion is domt let people's opinions get so deep in your head that you need to lash out.

Every here uses their experiences as facts. But say what they are...Opinions!!! I am prescribed 4x8mg. A day for pain and opioid dependency. It's a crock!! If you under stand the science of bupe then you will realize that a dose that high is blocking the receptors from itself! HA! When blue is given for pain it is under a gram.....not 8mg! So...if you are on subutex for pain...you are truly being cheated you need to ask for butrans, temgesic. We are talking micrograms here...not 32 MG a DAY!!! Please do your homework and confront the doctor with your information, he is not only prescribing the wrong pill for your pain, but the levels were ......astronomical!!! You should certainly withdraw when you start taking the correct dose. Yes, it does help pain in the right doses!

Opinion / experience, it's semantics. I'm same boat as you and my experience / opinion is take it slow. This is not my first time on Subs, it took me a year ro go from 8 to zero and I so regret getting back on it. It really does not help my pain but evert time I'm on regular pain meds I get myself n a jam. IMHO docs way over medicate. I had a surgery and my doc gave me 24mg a day for pain. That is a huge dose. When tapering I was down to 1/8 (crumbs) then skipping days and it wasn't so bad but it was no pickick either. I didn't feel right for weeks. I pay cash too, 500 a month! Esh, gotta be a better way.

to "killthepain" have you tried adding magnesium to your list of pills you take? I'm sorry I'm not answering your question but my mom, grandma, great-grandma, a couple of aunts and uncles and myself all suffered from migraines. Magnesium was like a blessing from heaven when my great-grandma grandmother told me and my mom about it. Mine were not add bad as my mom's headaches but she, my mom even found relief by adding magnesium please try if you haven't, it might be just what you need. Good luck to you my prayers are with you.

Yes many docs here are now utilizing suboxone to treat pain and avoid serious opiate addiction that comes with using other opiods. I don't know why people continue to believe it's not used this way when a simple Google search proves otherwise.

Actually I get great relief for pain on suboxone. I have had multiple failed back surgeries and suffer from severe back and leg pain. It depends on the person.

I'm sorry! I was talking to someone who wrote "if your Dr its prescribing suboxone for pain then he needs to back to medical school" I don't see that reply now. I don't think i know how to use threads. Sorry!!

Hi Knosis, Glad to read that things are working out for you. Like the expression goes "ya gotta do what ya gotta do".

Yes, I continually read up on info about this medication, especially as it relates to my particular situation. Also discuss things with my docs and make sure each knows what it's going on. This solution it's not perfect, but I've been able to better the quality of life for myself and, by doing so, my child's. I understand it takes the brain 90 days to reset itself/start producing dopamine after the complete cessation of opioids/opiates from the body. My brain never produced enough of this neurotransmitter (and others) to begin with, which explains several chronic health problems I battle regularly. While I have not experienced any GI problems after 10 months on Suboxone, my body chemistry/ DNA is different than yours. You are right about the serious matter of allowing oneself to become physically/emotionally dependent on such a strong medication as Suboxone. For me, the benefits outweigh the risks/side effects. I am lucky to be working with several good doctors (finally) vs. the sadistic narcissistic types in PA who cared little about me (their patient) and my family. Sorry, I had to include that 'dig', b/c my entire family suffered a great deal for the 3 years I was in the care of folks who had forgotten their hippocratic oath (to help, not hurt).

I read on a post where u said you were taking a high dose of suboxone a day. I have a question for you. my dr prescribes me 20mgs which is 2 8mgs and a half a day. in other words I get 55 every 22 days. But when I first get them i will take 3 or sometimes 4 a day. I have been having excruciating pains between my shoulder blades. i try to only take 16mgs a day, and i know that is even a high dose, but i cant quit that thinking if i take more i will feel better. almost like chasing a high that is never there, but everyday i still try again. its really stupid. I end up having to buy more, bc i run out b4 my next appointment.. I guess i have a VERY bad addictive behaviour. But I just wanted to know that when you took 24 mgs a day or ever took more than that, did you have any bad pains in your back or anywhere else? I really wish I could get to taking just 1 a day for now. I feel like Iam taking too much and that is what is causing my pain...any help you can give would be great. I have been on subs for almost 4 years, got down to 4mgs a day 2 years ago, but the clinic wanted me to come once a week for counseling, which i couldnt do, so I went somewhere else and started over on 20mgs. I cant get it out of my head that taking more will make me feel better, after trying it over and over and knowing it does nothing. I cant sleep for more than 3 to 4 hours, then ill get up for 2 hours and then get tired again and sleep another two hours. etc this is getting rediculous. please help me out! I also would like to note that since I started taking suboxone in 2010, I have never used any other drugs since, so its helping in that area at least! Thank You! and good luck to you in your recovery

The max dose for Subtex is 8mg four times a day. I take it for chronic pain and control of symptoms of severe Crohn's Disease, at 4mg three times a day I avoid the nausea by never taking it on an empty stomach. I have been on higher doses and doses four times a day which both resulted in bouts of nausea and vomiting. Everyone's system is different, you need to find a dose amount and schedule that works for you, any good doctor will help you do so. I found my perfect ammount over three years ago and some days take less or skip a dose because I feel it unnecessary as my pain level differs from day to day. I do not however, take more than prescribed in a single day. Subutex freed me from many years of debilitating pain and mind numbing effects of "traditional" opiate pain killers.

Dont preach herbal remedies to people because they can be just as dangerous if not more dangerous! The problem with oral remedies is you dont know how much you are actually getting. Plus subutex has does wonders for people in chronic pain! Also it doesn't take the pain away completely trust me but it definitely helps someone get through the day with out taking 300 mg of oxycodone on a daily basis! Addiction is different as well bec 1 is to many and 1000 is never enough which is the best way to describe what Happens . Pain is horrible to feel on a daily basis and yes the body does adapt to a certain degree. Subutex saved my life and I am able to function and have a normal life so take your herbal remedies some where else because that is the last thing I want especially when you probably are not an addict and dont understand addiction!

Hi there, I take 12 mg of suboxone for chronic pain (woman on bike versus speeding car) and ended up like so many else, with an opiate dependency, I'd like to get off everything, but since the pain is something that will be with me forever it's me and my subs. I tried methadone and it made me suicidal, Suboxone saved my life. Literally. I find it to be a very effective medication. You all take very good care of yourselves and honour your pain. It's real. So many people just don't get it unless.

You need to trust in our Savior the LORD JESUS CHRIST that what you are reading is the honest truth. Try buprenorphine/subutex for moderate to severe chronic pain. KICK your doctor to the curb and find one who knows the proven benefits provided by this "miracle drug for true chronic pain relief".

Everything in that post was completely wrong. You stated your opinions as though they were facts, which could be very dangerous and misleading for people who truly need and want to get their lives back and quit using opiates. I have been on suboxone for 8 years, it has always helped my chronic pain, not to mention saved my life.

ETECH: actually, the naloxone in the subs has a pretty short half-life. the buprenorphine itself is an antagonist, so that would be the thing that would throws you into precipitated withdrawals. BUT, in the example you cited, if you were in an accident and had to be given painkillers, you would be ok. you have it backwards. its taking subutex/suboxone AFTER taking full agonist opiates that is the problem. if they gave you painkillers in the hospital AFTER taking bupe, you would be fine. the painkillers might not work very well, but that wouldnt throw you into precip. w/ds. if you take suboxone too soon AFTER taking opioids, thats when you get into trouble.
