Lyrica Lawsuit (Page 47)
UpdatedDoes anyone know if there is an ongoing lawsuit against the company who puts out Lyrica? I am a mess from it. Do we have a leg to stand on when it comes to the side effects they found out from people like us? I am a long termer. I have been taking 900 mg since 2005. Is there anyone representing us? Thank you
Tedious , if you are in the Victorian work cover system, the Last labor Government really stuffed it , no one gets what they really need , it is all based on insurance greed , profit and corruption , there is no happy ending , all i can advise is get of lyrica.
I have been thinking about setting up something similar to a Kickstarter project but for Class Action lawsuits.
If we could all pool our money together and raise enough cash to hire a team of Lawyers to take on Pfizer. We could take on the establishment. What are peoples thoughts on this?
My sis was on lyrics for 2 years she attempted suicide she had Very.painful headaches she stayed n pain she would have hallucinations then one day she passed out took her too the Dr and they said she had a brain tumor they did surgery removed all but 5percent it cameback more aggressive n less than a month they gave her 18 12 months to live she died in 6 months she didn't make it a year she sent her family through so much and we couldn't figure out at the time y she was n so much pain now we understand it was the lyrica i need too contact a lawyer to help her children get some type of closure for losing there mom she was only 46yrs. An her children were to young too lose there Mom like that
I was on Lyrica and had terrible side effects. I weaned myself off 2 years ago. A lot things eventually got better but somethings haven't and I don't expect they ever will. I still have nerve damage in my feet which is what I was taking this crap for in the first place. I started Nioxin to stop my hair from falling out. Yes it did grow back. I believe Phizer depends on the dumbing up effect so that people won't have the mental capacity to file against them or if they do they won't be credible because its hard to prove how you were before you took it.
Cindy , you hit the nail on the head , lyrica definitely has a dumbing down effect as it interferes with higher thinking processes , lyrica destroyed my sons photographic memory , also it gave my son a very severe anxiety disorder that he had no sign of before he took lyrica
Hi carol , just wonted to know if lyrica had any lasting detrimental effect on your memory and thinking processes , if you are OK then you are one of the lucky ones .....
My doctor just put me on lyrica is that bad mine is only 25 mg twice a day
It is addictive and your doctor will not keep you at 25mg he will keep raising you as fast as you let him. I never made it any higher than 50mg 2x a day because of how awful it made me feel. The damage it did to me even at a low dose was terrible and it's not like you can stop taking it all of a sudden and the side effects don't all go away some are permanent . That is if you can convince your doctor to let you stop taking the drug because they won't admit that lyrica is the problem. They still try telling me I was allergic to it. I used to have a photographic memory that hasn't come back and it's been a few years. It alters the way your brain functions.
After my 60# weight gain, (from a size 8 to a size 18), in just 6 months, followed by an admission to the heart failure unit for CHF, I was told by my newly acquired cardiologist to consider myself ALLERGIC to Lyrica. CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE from a medication is not an allergic reaction. IT IS AN ADVERSE EVENT initiated by Lyrica. I can attest to that as a RN as well as a retired Clinical Research Scientist for a pharmaceutical company. Some day, and it may not be soon or even in our lifetimes, some lawfirm is going to sit up and take notice to this. Keep your families well informed about your ordeals with LYRICA so that when we are all dead and gone our descendants can file the lawsuit on our behalf.
I gained 60# in less than 3 months. It's been almost a year and I am still struggling to lose the weight. The worse part is the memory lose and the inability to spell simple words and do basic math in my head. I feel like a complete idiot sometimes.
Hi Scarlet , very sorry to hear about the very serious damage lyrica caused you , i am still very grief stricken about the damage lyrica caused to my son who is now only 20 years of age , before Lyrica he was a normal teenager and gifted student and was given lyrica for whiplash pain , Lyrica very quickly gave him an anxiety disorder and has seriously affected his memory that used to be very sharp , lyrica is a neurotoxic and brain damaging, dumbing down drug at the very least and should be banned as a menace to society , also we need compensation sooner rather than later for the life changing damage lyrica it has caused its victims ..
Jan your doctor just gave you something very very bad without realizing it .

if so please contact me
Portia - I am so sorry that is terrible. When he started taking lyrica was he still taking the other drug (garabentin) not sure of spelling but I think it is suppose to do the same thing as lyrica it is prescribed for nerve pain. If he was told to take both of the drugs at the same time that may be a way to go after the doctors and sue. I do remember from when I was taking the drugs I was told I can't take one unless the other was already out of my system which doesn't happen overnight but takes awhile. I don't know if this helps again I am very sorry for your loss.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY THAT WAS WHAT I WAS THINK TPP MUCH MEDS IN THE SAME CATAGORY AT THE SAME TIME, AND WHEN THE NURSE AT HOSPITAL SAID IT COULD BE A DRUG OVER DOSE BUT THAT IS NOY WHAT WAS LISTED ON DEATH CERTIFICATE ,, I FEEL LIKE I HAVE NO LEG TO STAND ON , BUT NEED SOME ADVISE IF ANYONE KNOWS A GOOD MEDICAL MALPRACTICE ATTORNEY IN FLA.. I APPRICIATE YOUR KIND WORDS AND HELP
Portia - I didn't catch before that he was on such a high dose (600mg) of garbetain (not sure of spelling) and even 100mg 3x a day is high to start with lyrica. I know I started at 25mg 2 x a day and had a hard time tolerating it when they raised it. I don't think you will have a hard time getting someone to take his case it was definitely malpractice. I know you have 2 yrs to file but I don't know anyone in Fla I am in NJ. I would make appointments at a couple law firms and just talk to them. They should take it on contingency.
Have you discovered any lawsuit regarding side effects of lyrica?
I too am suffering permanent hearing loss.
Hey all. Since my life had been so negatively affected by this drug, I started researching it on the web, and I am floored at all of the responses I have read! My heart goes out to all of you! There MUST be something that can be done for us, litigation wise, because MORE people are suffering. People who were, including myself, that were prescribed this horrible medicine, after the litigations were over.
A little about me, I have been in Nursing for 25 years, broke my back at work, and after my injury, I was told I had to have surgery on my spine. My doc started me on Lyrica 75mgs, twice daily. After a few days of taking the drug, I couldn't feel my feet touch the floor when I was walking, litterally!! My family began to worry about me because I'd sit on the couch and stare at the TV with my mouth draped open, and seemed very incoherent. I started having a lot of problems with my memory, fishing for thoughts. The drug helped me a lot with the nerve pain during and after my first fusion, although I started gaining 10 lbs weekly. I went from 170 lbs to 320 within a years time. During the "diagnosis" process for the second fusion, I woke up one morning, and my right calf, ankle and foot were so severely swollen, I could not walk. I called my Neuro pain guy, got an appointment, and upon seeing him, he said, "stop taking the lyrica. That is causing this." I, at the time was on only one other drug at that time, hydrocodone 5/325, which I hardly EVER took, because I have a very high tolerance for pain. I, under my docs supervision, started weening, and started to suffer lightening jolts in my brain and body that were horrendous! I have never had seizures, but started exhibiting s/s of the development of them. Joint pain and stiffness in my hands, wrists, neck, jaw, pelvis, knees, ankles and feet grew by leaps and bounds daily. My memory is worse than ever. I cant remember the day my daughter was born. I think that one thing is what bothers me the most! The joint pain is now a dull and constant burning. Never goes away!! Been off the drug since March 2013', and the swelling in my legs is worse than ever. A few weeks after I started weening off the Lyrica, I went to my primary about the swelling, and was put on a diuretic and potassium. Still taking it to this day. None of the symptoms are improving.. FYI, it took about 4 months for the "brain zaps" to subside.
If anyone has or is suffering as I am, we deserve to be heard as much as the people that have suffered before us. God be with you all!!
I'm in Canada, and all for it. Lets all spend a week doing as much legal research and touching base will a consultant, and then pool our info.
I have permanent hearing loss, blurred vision, memory loss, used to be an accountant and cannot even pay bills on-line anymore for fear of making more mistaked than I already have. I want to fight this for my kids benefit. If it did this much harm in this short period of time, what does the future hold? I am new to this website - can someone tell me why I'm getting the feeling that most of you feel hopeless to fight this? Please fill me in - what am I missing here. Thanks
Please read as far back as you can on this site you will see what we have been trying to do without any luck. Your story is very common. But take the time to read the postings most of us went to the FDA website and filed a complaint but had no luck with lawyers.
