Lyrica Lawsuit (Page 45)
UpdatedDoes anyone know if there is an ongoing lawsuit against the company who puts out Lyrica? I am a mess from it. Do we have a leg to stand on when it comes to the side effects they found out from people like us? I am a long termer. I have been taking 900 mg since 2005. Is there anyone representing us? Thank you
Before taking Lyrica I had a mind like a steel trap...I could remember almost everything and even tell you the date and time it was said, who said it, or where I read it or heard it. Now, after having been on Lyrica my memory is shot. I can't remember simple words. I get in the middle of a sentence and realize I'm at a loss for the next word. People wonder what's wrong with me. This isn't right. Even normal aging doesn't do this to a person as quickly as it happened to me while on Lyrica. And there hasn't been any improvement since coming off of Lyrica. In fact, I think it may have gotten a bit worse but that could just be me noticing my inability to get through a full sentence or remember simple words.
Hi Scarlet , how long were you taking Lyrica and at what dose , from experience it seems Lyrica can cause permanent damage at a low dose for even a very short time .
Scarlet~ Thank You for posting that fda.gov/safety/medwatch site URL/address. I will write to them about the side effects i've experienced from Lyrica. While I 1st came to this site to see if anyone else had yet experienced "Lymphedema" from Lyrica, (i had seen other blurbs on it on the web.), I have learned a lot about some of the other side effects from this site. Have been seeing a Psychologist & a Psychiatrist for high anxiety & panic attacks since not long after starting to take Lyrica but had not made a connection before. I am amazed at how many ways Lyrica has been adversely affecting me without my even realizing what this possible & even likely cause was / is behind it all. You are right that the fda needs to hear about these side effects from those of us who've been experiencing them. Thanks again!
Since the drug, and five years later,
I took a test for dyslexia, and I'm full there thanks to Lyrica. I just so happened to hear this story of similar symptoms on Facebook, and then found a guy telling a YouTube story. So I followed up on it, and did the dyslexia question & answer. I was like 95% dyslexia! All the symptom!
I have not posted on this site for quite a while. I still keep in contact with the site and get messages and postings. My biggest problem is my memory. I have been off Lyrica for years, but my memory has not improved. In fact I think it is getting worse. My sister and I have shared our lives for 65 years and I cannot remember a lot of things she brings up, even with prompting. I have never had anxiety attacks and full blown panic attacks until taking Lyrica. My eyesight has changed tremendously. My hips and legs ache constantly. I have always been an energetic person but now I barely get through the day with heavy fatigue. I have a knot in my stomach which I wonder if is related to the Vegas nerve which another lady on this site talked about. I tell everyone I know to steer clear of this drug. You never know if you are one of the people who it will affect terribly.
Oh, I forgot the weight gain. Approximately 25 pounds. I have not changed the way I eat or what I eat, but the pounds keep piling on, if anything I eat more healthily now than ever.
Hi Dianne , your not the only one to get anxiety after taking Lyrica , Lyrica triggered a very severe anxiety disorder in my son who never had it before taking Lyrica and still suffers with it more than 3 years after stopping Lyrica , this has been so bad it has wreaked havoc on his studies and quality of life and looks like it will never improve ..
Have to remember this medication is also used for seizures. I started on lyrica 3 years ago and it took me all this time to realize that the thoughts that I have are caused by Lyrica, my poor husband and all I have put him through because of this medication. I am down from 400mgs a day to 200, but scared to stop. Its been about 8 weeks and I felt a lot better for awhile but its all back. The thoughts are evil and as a Christain that makes things so much worse in my life. I am going to investigate whether a local lawyer will take on a case against them. If he does I will post again on here. Please be safe and don't let the thoughts get you. Get off as soon as you can and seek help and please talk to someone please. God Bless you all.
Bonnie please report your side effects to the FDA and also to the company that makes this poison , Lyrica caused an anxiety disorder in my son that makes the original problem look like nothing and makes him very trying to deal with as his moods swing from nice to violent in an instant , he had absolutely no sign of any of this before he took Lyrica
Hi I am a 36 year old female who was on lycria ( pregablin) and tramadol for 7 months, 400mg tramadol a day and 75mg pregablin 3 x a day, my doctor took me off both about 2 and a half months ago cold turkey, now have anxiety and nervousness, going to see a pshycologist on Thursday who will hopefully help me as I would like my life back and to be the bubbly person I was before all this started.
Tween , your anxiety like my sons is caused by chemical damage to the brain by taking Lyrica , the problem is bio mechanical not psychological , you will also find that anti anxiety drugs help a bit but not as well as some one with ordinary regular clinical anxiety. Lyrica damage anxiety does not respond very well to drugs like zoloft , Sipramil ,Symbalta , Lexapro ect.......Lyrica driven anxiety is in a class on its own and like my son feel sorry and under stand what you are going through , you will also find just about every Doctor you speak to will not under stand what is going on because there is no research out on this aspect of lyrica .
I've had episodic bouts of anxiety since taking Lyrica. They come on suddenly out of the blue. I never had anything like this before Lyrica. They stop me dead in my tracks while I question myself as to why I'm suddenly feeling as I do. After assessing my situation I try to move forward with what I was doing and shake off the intense anxiety. I can find no rhyme nor reason for these bouts of anxiety but they are scarey. Very freaky the way they suddenly show up, stay for a short time and then dissipate. Thank God I'm a nurse so I can at least assess the situation and know I'm not losing my mind.
Hi Scarlet , how long have you been off Lyrica and still have the anxiety from it ? is the anxiety diminishing with time ?
I've been off of Lyrica for several years. The episodes of anxiety that I experience are intense yet thankfully they happen only about once or twice a week at this time. Because I have never had anything like this happen before taking Lyrica I am very cognizant of each and every episode when it does happen. I stop and think about what is happening and possible causes for the change in emotional status at that moment. I have not been able to find any reason this should be happening and I immediately "shake it off". These episodes are unnerving to say the least. I get an immediate and almost overwhelming feeling that something is wrong yet I don't know what. From there I start to "feel" as if something must be wrong with a close family member. Fortunately I've been able to dismiss these episodes within minutes and get my feet firmly planted back on the ground. These episodes started while taking Lyrica. I've never been an anxious person and never had any alterations in emotional health, so these little episodes of anxiety really make me sit up and take notice in regard to cause and effect. I just had my cardiology check-up which is now necessary due to having gone into heart failure after the 60 pound weight gain in 6 months while taking Lyrica. Can you picture a size 6 woman turning into a size 18 woman in just 6 months with no change in eating habits? Obviously something is very wrong there. Other than having severe back pain...which is not unexpected after a career as a RN, I was a very, very, healthy and active woman before taking Lyrica. Now I'm sorry I ever heard of this drug.
Thank you for your answer Scarlet , i to have worked in hospitals most of my life and know all about back pain , wish i had done something else ...
I have been on and off Lyrica for 3 years for an anxiety disorder. I cannot get off this drug and I am now sucidal. I have the same thoughts, that I will just go do it and not tell anyone. I am seeking help just there is not enough money in the NHS for mental health its one area that is always short. Last time I tried to withdrawl I had panic attacks that lasted a whole month, my vision, hearing, thought process shutdown, I couldn't feel anything and I was trapped in a black void of emptynes for eternity. I felt as if I was in hell stuck forever. I ended up in A&E for 7 hours. I now have constant tinitus, head aches, problems with word recall, attention, walking straight, shaking palsy, fluttered heart to name a few. This is my review from my stay at A&E to shoe what happend. nhs.uk/Services/hospitals/ReviewsAndRatings/DefaultView.aspx
I have been on Lyrica for about 4 years for nerve damage as a result of surgery to repair an injury I sustained while serving in the Marine Corps, prescribed to me by my surgeon and continued prescription through the VA. I have not noticed any serious lasting side effects, just the way it makes me feel for a few hrs after taking my dose. I usually feel like I'm "speeding", yet tired at the same time. I'm fidgety and have to constantly be moving, doing something. I talk a lot, rambling on and on, I notice mild twitching of my muscles now and then, and occasional (momentary) blurriness in my vision, and feel like I dont think a's clearly sometimes. However, if I don't take it one day, I don't notice any of these side effects My question is, after 4 years of (not consistent) use, should I expect these lasting side effects or would I have noticed them by now. I don't want to discontinue use if I don't have to as it does take the edge off the horrible nerve pain in my leg. Am I headed towards the hell that some of you seem to be experiencing? Any words of advice will help
Hi MP , have you ever seen another Doctor for a second or third opinion , it is always important not to tell the doctor you are seeing what the one before said as they will never go against another doctors opinion , also who is supplying your lyrica , your local chemist or a Government supplier? you don't seem to be having the normal Lyrica horrors that most get from even short term use at low dose but would be concerned for the long run as lyrica tends to really catch up with people in a negative way eventually , have you ever tried a Tens machine or nerve blocking procedures ? or maybe simple Chinese medicine and or acupuncture , it may or may not work but may be worth a try , i don't know what type of injury you have so it is hard to recommend treatment , some times a good Myotherapist ( muscle therapist) can work wonders as it did for my sons Fibromyalgia and whiplash pain . I wish you all the best and hope all goes well for you .
I think it depends on dosage and length of time on lyrica, but if you experiance any more side effects, you can experiance them afterr getting off lyrica. There are othrr drugs that treat nerve pain. You may experiance the side effects for years, if not frever.
Hi Stewart , am sorry to here what you are going through , PLEASE DON'T COMMIT SUICIDE , life is a precious gift but unfortunately you have been put on the worst drug possible for what is already a seriously nasty condition , i know what i have been through with my son , Anxiety disorders are hell , you will need to wean of Lyrica very very slowly over a long period of time , if you had anxiety before Lyrica then Lyrica will have added a new level to this anxiety , you will need to be very brave and ride it out as your body will go through a great adjustment period , then you will need to find a competent doctor to re prescribe a regular anxiety medication and wean up to it again very gradually , unfortunately this will take time and with it more suffering but you will eventually have better days to look forward to , be brave be determined to succeed and beat it .
