Lyrica Lawsuit (Page 44)

Does anyone know if there is an ongoing lawsuit against the company who puts out Lyrica? I am a mess from it. Do we have a leg to stand on when it comes to the side effects they found out from people like us? I am a long termer. I have been taking 900 mg since 2005. Is there anyone representing us? Thank you

Yes, I feel the same way about lyrica, but you don't want to go to prison because of lyrica; your son needs you. It was good that one doctor reported lyrica.it's a start. I don't know if you have something like the FDA in your country. If you do write, call or e-mail them. We may not get any compnsation but maybe we can get it pulled. I think after it's off the market, then the lawyers will come out of the closet.

Don t worry Marry , i would never hurt any one ,don t even own a gun , just a cry of frustration and despair , cant except a prescribed drug has caused so much damage, damage that will never heal .

my name is danny i live in alabama i been takein the drug lyrica for over 2 year i have gain 120lbs i have thought of suiside lost intress in everthing have been caught driven got ticket i dont remember gettin so i put in jail for not showin up to court just all kind of stuff the dr just me off them he didnt tell me why i guess he didnt care

I agree maybe the media need to get involved. I was prescribed this god awful drug earlier this year and it has caused me so much grief. Even though I was put on a low dose the side effects were terrible and I stopped taking it. The withdrawal was worse. Thought I had a stroke I feel so bad. Been off it 4 weeks now and still feel like death.

Hi Natalie , i can really relate to what you are going through , depending on the dose and time on Lyrica i believe it can cause permanent damage , my son has been off lyrica for just over 3 years and is still not the same person he was before taking it , his ability to memorize has been greatly effected and this has caused him very considerable distress as he had a brilliant memory and very sharp analytically mind before taking lyrica , Lyrica is defenetly the cause as the transition was very obvious and instantl as soon as he started to take it

HI ROY, I WAS ON LYRICA FOR ALMOST A YEAR AND AT THE END OF THE COMMERCIAL ON TV WHERE THEY ARE TELLING THE SIDE EFFECTS, WELL LET ME JUST SAY I WAS THE POSTER LADY FOR ALL THE SIDE EFFECTS. I CUT MY WRISTS, THANK GOD MY HUSBAND WAS HOME AND STOPPED THE BLEEDING AND WRAPPED MY WRISTS UP, THEN MY MOOD WAS I DIDN'T WANT TO GET OUT OF BED, TAKE A BATH, BE AROUND ANYONE, I EVEM TOOK A GUN AND SHOT MY BED. THIS MEDICINE IS DANGEROUS TO TAKE. WHEN I WENT BACK FOR MY NEXT DR APP HE TOOK ME OFF OF IT RIGHT THEN BUT THE DAMAGE HAD ALREADY BEEN DONE. I WOULD CRY ONE MINUTE, THEN HAVE A CRY LAUGH, THEN JUST GO QUITE, MY FAMILY WAS SO WORRIED THEY THOUGHT I HAD A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN AND HAD MY COMITTED FOR 4 DAYS BUT I WAS STILL GETTING THE MEDICINE SO EVEN THOUGH THE 4 DAY COUNCLING HELPED TO TALK ABOUT THINGS I STILL HAD THOSE FEELINGS FROM THE MEDS. NOW I AM ON CYMBALTA FOR MY FIBROMYALGIA. AND I FEEL SOME BETTER BUT STILL HAVE PAIN. IF I COULD FIND AN ATTORNEY WHO WILL TAKE UP THIS CASE I WILL LET EVERYONE KNOW.

Nick, your comments about the Melbourne Professor are very interesting. As I live in Australia I might look him up. I am now 5 weeks of Lyrica and the side effects are not going away. Muscle spasms, headaches, aching muscles in my arms and legs, still got bad vision and shake on and off and my anxiety is through the roof. I was only on 75mg for about 8 weeks before going cold turkey. Been back to my GP and neurologist but both are not convinced my symptoms are related to lyrica both are convinced its just anxiety. It cannot be a coincidence that all these symptoms are happening after going off this drug. I know I was on a low dose but I have never felt this bad. All this from trying to help with migraine pain. Now I'm worse!! I will email 60 minutes Australia as suggested.

Hi Natalie , you mentioned your anxiety through the roof with Lyrica,, which is very interesting , my son never had anxiety before taking lyrica , but lyrica triggered a very severe anxiety disorder that has proved near impossible to treat and is not improving after 3 years of having taken the last dose of Lyrica ....this anxiety disorder has made studying very difficult for him and is still trying to complete year 12 at home with distance education as he cannot tolerate main stream schooling , the anxiety so far has put him behind his peers by 3 years , i believe Lyrica causes permanent brain changes or damage that is irreversible .i think we all need to go on 60 minutes or one of those shows and get this horrible drug exposed out in the open .....

Nick, I phoned Pfizer Australia (makers of Lyrica) this morning to report my side effects. They told me I should not be experiencing any side effects now after 4-5 weeks. Trouble is that I AM. Have you phoned them to report your experience with this drug?

Hi Natalie , i have rung Pfizer to talk about the side effects a long time ago but not to make an official complaint , at the time they neither confirmed or denied the possibility of side effects continuing months or years after treatment has ceased , they are a business that wont's to stay in business and are making huge profits from Lyrica at the moment and am sure they wont to continue to do so , they are nobody's friend , they are driven by profits and greed , make no mistake about that , they will be need to be stopped by the weight of complaints and the fear of litigation by negligence so i will give them another call and see if they will register an official complaint , thanks Natalie for your support , has your Anxiety reduced at all since last writing?, am interested to find out how you are going ..

Nick, Thanks for the fast reply. When I spoke to Pfizer they noted all my side effects and DID agree that some would have been from stopping the medication suddenly. The also took details of my Doctors so they could cross check information. I realise that they will not admit fault but there are just so many people with complaints, I think part of the problem is that people do not actually register their complaints with the company more just write about it on medical forums. More people need to complain directly to Pfizer. I just wish I had seen the forums/warnings before taking Lyrica. I am kicking myself for being stupid and not asking more questions.

To answer your question - No I am not feeling any better, anxiety is still terrible (never had it before taking Lyrica either!!), pain in my hands/arms and legs I think is getting worse. Still have muscle twitches all over, not sleeping etc etc, etc. The list goes on and on. I do hope your Son gets back to his old self soon. You must be so frustrated and angry (as I am!).

I still have short term memory loss, anxiety with panic attacks, and the muscle cramps are horrible. My orthopedic doctor put me on 10 mg flexiril twice a day which helps as long as I take it. My psychiatrist has me on ambilify to help the valium with my axiety. Now what helps memory loss?

Hi Natalie , yes it is very frustrating knowing that Lyrica caused such a devastating problem to my son , should have read the fine print on the brochure first and never Let Dr Terence Lim put him on this disgusting drug at only 16 years of age against the manufacturers recommendations , but we trusted Lim as the expert and Lyrica caused far more problems than it was worth .Many have said that they have not had a dose of Lyrica for 6 or 7 years and are still not right so am very worried that my son will never recover as it is already 3 years since his last dose .

Hello everyone.. Just found your form tonight and wanted to connect.. I too were put on Lyrica (250 mils) twice a day 5 years ago..when I damaged my L4 and L5 vert. I was aprox 35 at the time.. I started having suicidal thoughts within the first couple of months.. before Lyrica.. I was the most social person you could have ever met.. and never met a stranger.. After being on Lyrica .. my parents and loved ones noticed that my mood changes were very rapid and increasing.. Pretty soon.. I found myself driving down the road.. we own a construction business with large dump trucks.. how easy it would be to just drive off the road and kill myself..and why not take out the car ahead of me.. I HAD NEVER wanted to hurt myself or anyone else.. to make a long story short.. I was on Lyrica for almost 3 years before I completely weeded myself off of it.. with my parents and loved ones help.. it was terrible.. since then.. My wife has noticed that my memory is that of a 100 year old person..even simple task.. and that I have very short attention spans.. almost like add or adhd symptoms..it has been 5 years this past spring..and no improvement with pain or memory.. I will say that the sucicidal thoughts have gone away.. however..I still have very frequent mood swings.. I live in NC..and noticed that a lot of us have the same questions.... anyways.. I wish everyone the very best with piecing our lives back together after this terrible experiment on us..

The FDA must see the numbers...the statistics, for them to take notice and eventually ACTION. I did get a return phone call from the FDA after filing a report....YES, they called me back.... and was told that they haven't gotten very many OFFICIAL complaints yet about LYRICA from actual patients. But they also told me to let everyone know that the MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO REPORT A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH A DRUG is to go to:

fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch

and report the problems that LYRICA is causing.

Also, may I remind you that no law firm is going to take action on our behalf unless they can see the statistics related to our complaints. The numbers and quality of the reports of adverse events are what is meaningful to attorney's in evaluating the profitability of a potential lawsuit about a drug.

So let's get something going here to push for anyone out there who's been damaged by LYRICA to REPORT IT TO THE FDA. Talk is cheap. It may make us feel better but in the long run it isn't going to get LYRICA off of the market.

Right now.......go to THE FDA WEBSITE FOR ADVERSE REACTIONS and report the problems you've had due to taking LYRICA !!!!!!!

Charles , sorry to hear about your experience on Lyrica , my son was on it for only 6 months at doses up to 75 mg x 4 per day and that was enough to destroy his brilliant memory and academic expectations , Lyrica left him with an anxiety disorder and significant memory retention problems , before he took Lyrica his memory was amazing and was a very gifted student , now he struggles to learn and is trying to finish high school final year at home via distance education 3 years behind his peers .

scarlet , have sent my information to the FDA , they responded by e mailing me a list of known Lyrica side effects and statistics that look very official and academically impressive , i would encourage every one on this site to report there symptoms and details to the FDA , only the numbers and the facts will work in our favor and make them take another good look at this truly horrible drug .

I've been taking Lyrica since 2006. 150 mg. twice a day. Only weight gain as side effect, but I tried to quit taking it 2 yrs. ago. My Dr. lowered my dose slowly and I became very tired and no energy and my pain worsened. HAS ANYONE TRIED TO GET OFF OF THE DRUG WITHOUT SIDE EFFECTS??? I get horrible headaches and nausea if I forget to take it. Let me know if you have succeeded getting off of this drug. It scares me.

The swelling always bothered me in the 4+ years I took Lyrica. Then, after a bout of cellulitis in the leg that would get the most swelling, I found out I had developed Lymphedema which is why the Cellulitis had manifested. Now I'm learning a whole lot more about Lymphedema than I'd ever want to know. (Non Cancer Related & often misdiagnosed as something other)
This week i begin with the professional wrappings to try & clear the Lymph Fluids out of the feet & legs. Lymphedema is a lifelong condition & I'm wondering if any others have developed it after taking Lyrica for any period of time.
