Lyrica Lawsuit (Page 38)
UpdatedDoes anyone know if there is an ongoing lawsuit against the company who puts out Lyrica? I am a mess from it. Do we have a leg to stand on when it comes to the side effects they found out from people like us? I am a long termer. I have been taking 900 mg since 2005. Is there anyone representing us? Thank you
Lyrica not approved for children is another part of the agony we have endured , Dr Terence Lim should never have put my son on this poison in the first place , we trusted his judgment , he was just an ego centric trying to promote his own worth , he knew my son was at school and what Lyrica does to concentration and memory, he totaly ignored the manufacturers warnings . .
I am so sorry the only thing I am happy about 5 different doctors of mine ignoring the precautions ( mixing lyrica and elavil) is that it was myself affected and not one of my girls still in school. I have lost all trust in drs as I am sure you have. I hope your son has some improvement I know how frustrating it is when you can't think I can't imagine being in your son's position.
Hi Renee , i agree with you , there are fundamental weaknesses in the way doctors are trained , they seem to be trained to conform with the products that big pharma provide and have to much faith in them ., they prescribe without question of safety or consequence to the patient .
I was on @ 300 mg. per day for a few monthson lyric. I was lucky to get off it, cold turkey in 2006, without problems; however there was damage to my brain. My memory, short term, was affected. Since I have trouble finding work, I have decided to go back to school to learn to be a medical secretary. I have found it very difficult because of the damage lyrica has done to my brain and coordination. I have trouble remember what the teacher said and with typing my brain knows where the keys are but it is not communicating the information to my fingers. I am very sorry to hear about your son Nick. Maybe in time his brain will make new connections, but that takes time to rewire the brain. I wish Renee and you luck. I am hoping that with only a course or 2 I will rewire my brain and get my coordination back. I will pray for you both.
Mary, thank you so much for your support , i wish you to every success in your re training as a Medical secretary and you were Lucky to get off Lyrica cold turkey , i had my son slowly wean down over several weeks which i believe was a mistake as it kept him on it longger causeing futher damage with each dose . I just hope if the human brain can re wire it self that the new conections will be as good as the original ones were , trouble is not much has improved in past 3 years exept for a promising improvement in the last couple of weeks .
Mary thank you for your prayers God Bless
I have given up hope for a aany compensation or class action suits. Pyfser has every lawyrt. You will just have to wait 'til the government takes it off the market as it has other drugs and by that time Pfyzer cannot be sued for lyrica because the statute of limitations will have run out. I've given up. All I can offer is prayers for all those who have suffered from this drug. I'll just wait for the government to pull this drug after all statutes of limitations have run out and we get nothing and Pfyzer made all its profits. I'll pray for all people on or off lyrica. It's all I can do. Keep me informed.
I don't know about any class action suits, but when I was prescribed Lyrica to see if it would help my myofascial pain syndrome/fibromyalgia towards the end of July, 2009 when it 1st came out, I developed strabismus (eye muscle weakens so eyes don't stay in alignment), cataracts, swelling of hands, feet, & legs. Most important was the damage done to my eyesight. I'd seen my eye doctor end of April/beginning of May 2009--NO signs of cataracts & definitely NO symptoms of strabismus. My son noticed my right eye wandering to the right, but didn't comment on it--I had no idea what was going on. By Oct 2009, it became much worse! I went back to my eye doctor (he said he would testify if I decided to bring a case against the company) who sent me to a specialist--that's when I learned I'd developed strabismus AND cataracts! I've told my friends & family to never take this drug. Tonight, I've seen 5 commercials for Lyrica & decided to look for a link to tell others to steer clear of taking this medication! It had NO impact on my pain--just caused additional health issues!
Hi Mary , this is a very unusual situation with Lyrica , a drug that severely damages people and no doctors wont to know about it and Lawers who dont even wont to consider it , the only thing we can do is pray and worn others of just how very dangerous this horrible drug is , thank you again Mary for your very kind consideration and prayers ., i wish you every success in all your endevours ..
Thank you. You remember that I SAID I wad an ex- nurse and respiratory therapist. It's been at least 5 years since I've be,en on lyrica, I still have side effects from lyrica, that involve memory, coordination and balance. 2 nites ago I fell in the middle of the nite(I thought that was over) I hit my head, luckily not too bad(I was not unconsciouse). It bled ome, my family said there was a big gash on my scalp. I guess that side effect is still there.. I am OK, but I guess I still have to watch myself. It takes years for nerves to grow back. Keep your hopes up for your son,Nick, try flash cards or puzzle games for your son. It may help the nerves and neurons. Keep his brain active. I don't know what else to tell you. God bless you and keep you safe.
I meant off lyrica, there are some typos. I just hope you understood what I wrote.
JB - My eyesight was perfect before taking it but hasn't been the same since. I still have the double and blurry and my eye dr said I had the cataracts and it was from the lyrica. You are not alone unfortunately. When I was on the drug my double vision was so bad they thought I had MS and put me through a dozen tests. I finally gave up on all of the specialists because they were clueless and didn't know what was causing the vision problems.
Renee, have you been diagnosed with strabismus...one or both eyes wander off from center, thus you get double vision. I think in the old days, it was called being "wall-eyed". As I stated (I think), my son noticed my right eye "taking a hike" in Aug...2-3 wks after I take that horrible medicine. Needless to say, the pharma didn't report the possible symptoms of eye problems for about a yr & a half. Then again, what do we expect when the pharma's "monitor" themselves. If their volunteer's testing the meds, site any problems they're kicked out of the test program & not paid. The American people need to start riding their Congressional members to force far more stringent regulations on the pharmas! Oh, I didn't figure I was the only one to suffer such side effects, that's why I finally broke down--more like remembered--to find a site--to share what happened with me. I'm sorry to hear that you have been faced with the same problems.
JB - I don't remember what the neuro-opthamologist called it. Unfortunately, my memory was so bad and I was having a nervous breakdown but I was supposed to get special glasses made with prisms but by the time I was suppose to go and get them made I couldn't go to the doctors anymore because of the panic attacks. I might have the script somewhere with the info. I close my one eye and the double vision goes away so that is how I watch tv now. I went on this drug for spinal cord damage when I shattered my spine. I went through hell after my accident and after my reconstructive surgery to keep going mentally and to finally walk again and live in constant pain and then have this ruin my eyesight and all of the other lasting side effects. But I will try to find that information and let you know
I have been on Lyrica for about 3 years or so. I am 36 years old and have an acquired brain injury from age 21. I was on 300mg, twice a day for ages but still experiencing pain and was led to believe that if I lowered the dose then the pain would get worse. But eventually I could no longer handle the side effects, which I thought were happening to me because of my head injury. Side effects that were a real worry was high levels of paranoia, a feeling of going crazy and I just overall didnt feel like myself anymore. Any way, eventually I weaned myself off 300mg, twice daily to 150mg, twice daily and are so so glad that I did. My pain still bothers me HEAPS, but at least I no longer feel as if I am losing my mind as well.
Lyrica almost killed me literally. It is crazy that no attorney will help. I have thousands of dollars in med bills from this drug. I had to quit nursing school. I could barely walk. It has caused stage 3 kidney disease and there is nothing anyone will do about it. Lyrica has ruined my life.
I had my Pharmacy print up a sheet, in order to find out when I was on lyrica. I was initially started @ 75mg 3x a day and told by my doctor to increase it every 2 weeks 25mg and to keep doing this until my arthris pain was gone. I stopped the increase @ 200mg 2-3x per day because the pain did not go away and I was getting scared being on this high a dosage. Of lyrica. I wad on it 3-4 months and my family wass getting tired of picking me up when i'd fall. We all decided that it was the lyrica doing this. So one day I took a week"s vacation and quit cold turkey. I 'd not reccommend this method if you have brrrrn on it a long time. I was only on it a few months and it did and still is affecting me.
because my paiin
I have my pharmacy printout. On Feb. 23, 06, I started my first dose of Lyrica, 25 mg. 2x a day for 2 weeks for my arthritis pain; then the next two weeks, it was increased to 50 mg 2x a day. The dosage stayed the same for 2 weeks. With no pain relief, it was increased to100 mg. 2x a day. No relief yet, so the dosa went to 200 mg. @2 a day. I still had pain. I didn't notice any side effects, but my family and co-workers did. The hospital thought I was drunk, I was staggering, had garbled speech, and kept asking the same question every 10-15 seconds. I kept falling @ home even though I was sitting on a chair. The hospital thought I was drunk so they did a blood alcohol test, which of course came back negative. The day I forgot how to start my car is the day I got off the drug cold turkey. My pain today is contrlled by tylenol 3, which works fine for me. I wish they would stop advertizing it as a cure-all for any type of pain and take it off the market. Next thing you'll hear is it helps people with gout!
Lisa F , i can certainly sympathize with you on your experience with Lyrica , this is a real life wrecker and it is a criminal act of negligence and cold hearted greed that this poison is still sold and so aggressively promoted as something good , did you recover from it after you stopped taking Lyrica , many people including my son still have on going side effects many years after they stop taking Lyrica , in other words , this stuff causes permanent damage , mainly nerve and brain damage .
I have permanent nerve damage and I'm in stage 3 kidney failure. I'm on a pain patch to help with the pain.
