I got a prescription from a mom & pop pharmacy that I always get from but they always give me different pills each time. This time they gave me something and I looked it up on the internet but I cant find it anywhere. There closed all weekend and I'm allergic to a lot of medicines. I tried calling a different pharmacy but they said they can't tell me cuz the mom & pop pharmacy is a compound phamracy (I guess they make there own pills I don't know) it is white and oval and says 13 on it. What is it? Its suppose to be lorstan potassium 100mg ## No, that doesn't make sense, because compounding pharmacies use capsules, they don't usually have pill presses to make the solid tablets. Is 13 the complete marking? I've gone through several pages of pill images, bu...

I had 2 BPs taken in two days, BP was 157/100 and 157/105; I was recently prescribed Losartan 25 mg. The note from the doctor in my file this morning said to increase to 50 mg. I was on Lisinopril 5 mg, so while waiting to hear from someone I took the Lisinopril 5 mg. which I had normal BP while on it. What should I do? ## Hello, Lynda! How are you doing? You should follow your doctor's instructions to take the Losartan at 50mgs. It is an ARB and may cause side effects, such as nausea, headache, stomach pain, dry cough and increased urination. Were you abruptly switched from the Lisinopril to the Losartan? If so, that might have caused these elevations, you may have experienced a slight rebound effect and it could take awhile for the Losartan to kick in and lower your blood pressure.

I take losartan-hctz100-25mg 1 a day. Could this make me lose my hair? Have been on it for 2 months and starting to lose my hair Is this a side effect? Also take verapamil er 240mg for around 2 years. ## Hi jenny, According to The National Library of Medicine, Losartan can in fact cause alopecia (hair loss) as a side effect. It doesn't appear to be very common though since this side effect is not listed in other directories, but it does happen. If it becomes unbearable, you may want to consider switching medications or looking into a natural alternative that may be safer to use in the long run. Have you had a chance to discuss this concern with your doctor yet? ## Am on Losartan, Inderal, clonidine, I have been on these for 3 years and have lost over half of my hair, are there alter...

I accidentaly took two 25mg losartan but one in the morning and one at 2pm will i be okay ## Hello, Dee Dee! How are you? Did you suffer any adverse effects? Anytime you are worried about a possible overdose, you should contact your doctor, poison control or go to your nearest ER, for your own safety. As to the dosage, it can be given in doses up to 100mgs a day. However, accidentally doubling your dose could cause your blood pressure to go lower than usual, so you may experience dizziness, drowsiness and headache. If you have a smartphone, I'd suggest getting a reminder app for prescriptions. One that not only reminds you when to take them, but one that makes you acknowledge when you've taken it, to avoid such instances in the future.

I am itching all over and just took my losartan would it be alright to take a benadryl ## Hello, Patty! How are you? I didn't find any interactions listed between these two medications, but you should make sure it's okay with your doctor for you to take the Benadryl. Some antihistamines may cause elevations of blood pressure and heart rate, but Benadryl is usually considered safe. It may cause side effects, such as dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth. I have high blood pressure and taking losartan. I read that I should not take it since I have allergy to penicillin. What are the side effects if this is true. Thanks, Sarah ## Hello, Sarah! How are you? No, I am not aware of any such warning and it isn't an antibiotic or related to them. Perhaps the best question is, are you suffering any side effects or having any problems with it? That would really give you an answer right there. The normal side effects may include nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and hypotension.

I have been taking this medicine for a short while. The firat 30 days my no was well controlled but I've had a serious backache for about 2 weeks. At refill, it was switched to another brand, North star Rx LL. My bp is again staying elevated, 150/95 consistently, and the backache is gone. Is it possible that I got a bad batch? ## Hello, Kathy! How are you? It is rather difficult to say, it could be that it's just not working well for you. What type of foods do you eat? Do you watch your sodium? How much fluid do you drink each day? Are you on any other medications? Do you get lots of exercise? Have you spoken to the prescribing doctor about it?

Hello I was prescribed lisinpril for about 2 months but could not stand the dry cough. I've been off lisinprl for over 2 week but still carry this nasty cough. I have been taking Losartan for approximately one week could it be the losartan that continues to cause the dry cough? I'm totally frustrated! ## Hello, Rena! How are you? It may take about a month for the cough to stop. I have the same problem with Lisinopril and hated it for that reason and it did take about 4 weeks for the cough to completely go away. Side effects to the Losartan may include nausea, dizziness, hypotension and headache. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been taking losartan hctz for 3 days and already feel like I have a url with burning and urgency. I never get these infections so I am assuming it could be the Losartan. Yes or no? ## Hello, Kathy! How are you feeling? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. To be quite honest, I'm finding conflicting information on this, some information says it can cause them, but not others. So it may or may not be, there is always a first time for everything, including getting a UTI, though you never have before. Have you had this checked out, yet? Are on any other medications?

what is the difference between these two drugs, E 49 (Hydrochlorothiazide and Losartan 25 mg / 100 mg) and Hyzaar 25 mg / 100 mg? Are they the same and if not why prescribe one over the other? ## Hello, Kelly! How are you? Hyzaar is the name brand, while the other is a generic that's just listed as the active ingredients, as all generics are and it really doesn't matter which one your doctor writes on the prescription pad. Unless there is some reason why you can only take the name brand, your pharmacy with automatically fill it with the generic. Side effects to this medication may include nausea, dizziness, headache, hypotension and dehydration. Are there any other questions or concerns?
