Me and my bf use condoms as well and I haven't missed a pill. Not having any symptoms of pregnancy but I am still worried. ## Hello, Emily! How are you? That is normal for some women taking oral contraceptives, some will skip periods, or not get any. If you're concerned, please speak to your doctor, but it's most likely nothing to worry about. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, irritability, headache, breakthrough bleeding and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?
1 REPLY UpdatedI have been on this pill for over 2 years. The past few months I have had breakthrough bleeding at some time in the month. Can the pill start becoming ineffective? I am under a lot of stress right now and about to graduate college. ## Have you consulted your doctor? It should remain effective, as long as you are taking it daily, as you are supposed to do. However, the stress can have some effect on the hormones in your body and may cause menstrual irregularities, such as breakthrough bleeding, even if you weren't taking hormonal contraceptives. ## Talk to your doctor. I have been on loestrin 24 fe for almost 4 years and have been having similar issues over the last 6 months or so. My doctor said its still effective but sometimes your body/medication rhythm just needs to be "rese...
4 REPLIES UpdatedI have been taking Lomedia 24fe for 6 months, have never missed a pill and take at same time every day. I always had a light period before taking the pill and had spotting when taking the brown pills for the first 4 months but have not had a period the past two months. Is it normal to stop having a period while taking Lomedia 24fe? Pregancy tests are negative. ## I've also been exactly on lomedia for 6 months. This month I didn't get a period, haven't missed a pill at all. I'll be taking a pregnancy test, though I have no signs of pregnancy. It's kind of freaking me out too! ## Hello, Annabelle and Suzanne! How are both of you ladies? Yes, some women don't have periods, when taking oral contraceptives. If you're worried, please consult your respective doctors...
2 REPLIES UpdatedI've been on lomedia since feb. Haven't been able to lose the 12 lbs I gained since starting it ( mind you I work out 4-5 days a week) I get about 4-5 headaches a week, I get nauseous all the time and sometimes morning sickness bc I take it at night. I've been extremely lethargic and all I want to do is sleep. I barely get my period. I'm switching to lo loestrin. This pill does not work for me.... it also keep you bloated most of the time. ## Hello, CC! How are you feeling? I'm sorry about the problems you had. Unfortunately, medications can be like that. What works well for someone else may not work well for you and vice-versa. Have you started the other one, yet? If so, how is it working for you?
1 REPLY UpdatedI am 1 week out from finishing my first pack of Loestrin 24 Fe. I started the pill on the first day of my period and have taken the pill at the exact same time everyday. Before the pill, my period came at the same time every month for five days. However, I have not stopped bleeding since I started taking this pill. I require a pad/tampon at all times I am bleeding so much. Now starting the last week of pills it looks like my "period" is starting. Will the bleeding ever stop? My GYN gave me the standard "stick it out for 3 packs". This may sound crazy, but how am I ever supposed to have intercourse when I'm bleeding every day? And for 3 months of this??? Has anyone else experienced this? ## I am very sorry about the problem that you're having. Yes, your doctor is ...
1 REPLY UpdatedI was prescribed Lomedia by my gynecologist. But my problem now is that i dont know when to start... I took Loestrin before and I could start any day.. i didnt have to wait for my period to take them. So i dont know know if i can do the same with Lomedia because that is not in the instructions. Also the reason i dont want to wait for my period to start them is because i ha e irregular periods.. sometines every 2 months or more. So if someone knows please help me... id really appreciate it ## Hello, Christy! How are you? Yes, you can start them the same way. You'll just need to take them for a full 7 days, before they are effective at preventing pregnancy. Thus, if you are engaging in intercourse, you should use some backup method of protection for the first 7 days. Is there anything...
1 REPLY Updatedi take the birth control Loestrin 24 Fe. there are24 active white pills and 4 brown not active pills. iam on my first pack of pills and im in my second week. i guess my question is if i have unprotected sex while taking the brown non active pills-- can i get pregnant? ## No, the active pills prevent ovulation, so you are still protected for the entire month, even when taking the inactive pills, as long as you haven't missed any tablets. In actuality, you can completely skip taking pills that are completely inactive, if you wish. The only reason they are put in there is to help women stay in the habit of taking the pill daily, so they don't forget. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi, i am on my first pack of loestrin and i am very good at taking my pills everyday at th...
5 REPLIES UpdatedHow does it feel to be on Loestrin24Fe? It is a very new stuff! Have anyone tried it already? ## I have ben taking loestrin24fe for a week now. i started the pill the sunday after i started and now im spoting ! anyone know why? ## I have but the first month i start my period came on 2 time in 1 month but having been back on ## well, jeanie, do you take the pill at exactly the same time every night, or within a small bit of each other each day? One of the side effects if you aren't consistant with taking the pills at the same time is spotting. Personally I've never had a problem with breakthrough bleeding (so far) and have always had my period on the brown pills, never any other time. :/ ## Could I be pregnant, I am in loestrin24 this is my 3 package i never been in BC pill when ...
5 REPLIES UpdatedI have been on birth control since the age of 15 (5 years now) first it was Yaz then OrthoTriCyclen and now Lo Estrin Fe. The LoEstrin has worked amazingly for me and I have been on it for about a year and a half now. While I don't always take the pills the same time of the day, and I have missed one or two pills our of the year, I have always had a 2 or 1 day period no matter if I take the pills completely on time that whole month or if I skip the timing or a day. Sometimes I have had extremely heavy flow if I forget a pill that month, but otherwise, It has been a reliable period on this pill. This past month, I took all of my pills on the day they were supposed to be taken and I have experienced no period. I had mildly discolored discharge during my inactive pills and am concerned...
1 REPLY UpdatedI have been taking Loestrin 24 Fe for about 5 months and usually when I get to start the new pack I start immediately but I have been off of it for 7 Days and ave not even spotted. I have taking a at home test and it has been negative. Could I be pregnant?? ## If you're actively engaging in intercourse, there's alway a chance of getting pregnant, though it's not very likely if the test was negative. Irregularities can be normal when using hormonal contraceptives, but you should consult your doctor to be certain. Some women stop getting periods when taking this one, so it's possible that it's just a normal thing. Have you contacted your doctor, yet?
1 REPLY UpdatedI started loestrin 24 on the 5th day of my period and would like to know how long until it is effective. The nurse practitioner said one full packet of pills but that conflicts with almost everything else Ive heard or read. Any advice/opinions/info appreciated. ## Loestrin 24 (active ingredients Ethinyl Estradiol + Norethindrone Acetate) is different with everyone. Some cases are 14 days and other cases are one month. With most birthcontrols it is recomended to use other forms of birthcontrol during the first month (ie condoms). In my opinion I would still use protection while taking Loestrin 24 for at least a month, better safe than sorry. Do you have any more questions or concerns, please post back and I would be happy to help. ## i have been on loestrin 24 fe for now alomost 2 months...
50 REPLIES UpdatedI’ve been in Loestrinf for 5 months now, always take the pill at the same time every day. This month I didn’t get my period. I missed one of the white pills one day, but I read in the information of the pill that it does not matter and that one does not have to use another contraceptive method. I still did not have sex for a week after I forgot to take that pill. I always have unprotected sex and my bf always finishes inside me. I have never had a problem before. So again, this month I did not get my period so I took three pregnancy tests. One I took it the day after I started the sugar pills, the other one I took it more or less three days into the sugar pills and the third one I took it after I had finish the sugar pills. All three came negative, ...
22 REPLIES UpdatedI have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for quite a long time now. 2 weeks ago, I took the normal pill on Thursday night at 10pm, which is my regular time. But I forgot to take the Friday pill until 14 hours later, at noon on Saturday. Then, instead of taking the normal Saturday pill at 10pm, I took that one at 7am on Sunday morning. After that, I took all the rest of the pills at 10pm as usual, starting with Sunday night. Is it a problem if I took the first pill 14 hours late and the 2nd pill 9 hours late? I abstained after that for 6 days, and then had intercourse. But because I wasn't sure, I took Plan B just in case. Now, I have been taking the pills as normal after that, but was wondering if I can rely on the birth control pills for the rest of the cycle. Would appreciate your thoughts -...
1 REPLY UpdatedI missed two pills in week three this month, August. Missed my period and had light spotting due to the missed pills. I do not take the inactive pills, brown pills, and that has suited me well for the last 9 months. I started my new pack after the fourth week. I am a Sunday starter. The leaflet says to finish the active pills left and start the new pack immediately. I didn't know that then, therefore I did not do that, I started the new pack after week 4. I would like to know if anyone can relate and if they had or missed there period the next month. ## Hi, Nana! I'm not sure I quite understand you. You mean you took the active pills for 3 weeks, took nothing for a week and then started a new pack? That would be proper procedure, if you don't take the inactive tablets. I...
2 REPLIES UpdatedI began taking Lo Loestrin Fe two and a half months ago. I did not get my period either of the first two months, but had no spotting or side effects from the pill and continued to take it. Now, halfway through my cycle (ending the second week), I've had 2 days of bleeding. It is not as heavy as my usual periods (before taking birth control), but is not minor spotting. I am pretty definite I am not pregnancy as I had intercourse around 10 times, always with a condom, having taken birth control continuously throughout the months. Does anyone know why this may be happening? I've read that a lot of people miss periods on Lo Loestrin Fe, but it seems weird that I'm bleeding all of a sudden after two months of nothing. Thanks! ## This is a hormonal contraceptive, so breakthrough b...
1 REPLY UpdatedI normally took my Loestrin at 10PM. This pastThursday I forgot to take it and I took it at 6AM Friday morning. I then took my Friday pill at 6 AM as well instead of waiting until the night. Now I am taking my pills in the AM instaed of PM. I had intercourse on Sunday and I am wondering if I was/am still protected? Did I screw up badly by doubling my pill and changing my time? Any Advice or input is helpful. ## Generally, there's a time span of about 12 hours or so, where it's not really considered late and you'd have to go a full 24hours, before it would be considered a missed pill. As long as you still took it, then you should be protected against pregnancy, but only your doctor can check and let you know for sure to put your mind at ease. Taking 2 of them together may cau...
1 REPLY UpdatedI've been on Loestrin 24 FE for almost a year now. I have severe headaches before or on my period. When I miss one pill, my period starts immediately. I was on Yaz before and didn't have these problems. I am also experiencing mood swings on Loestrin 24 FE, is any of this normal? I'm 36 years old and on antidepressants, the reason my doctor put me on this was to have two day periods, while I'm in college. I've had a couple of times of no period at all, and I've had 2 week periods, only one time of two days, this year. I liked the Yaz better, will have a doctor's appointment soon, should I tell my doctor that I want to switch the birth control pill? I think the estrogen levels are too low for me with this pill! ## I have been taking Loestrin 24 Fe for almost a ...
3 REPLIES UpdatedI quit taking my pills in March and should have started my period April 6th and it hasn't come yet. Before I started taking the pills my periods were extremely irregular and almost never occured. I started the pills and they were right on every month and never late or early. I was just wondering that since i quit them mid march (at the end of a pack... with my drs permission) if it was normal to have my period be late? ## Did you have a menstrual cycle when you stopped taking them, or shortly after you stopped? If so, then your next cycle should be approximately 28 days later. However yes, since they are a hormonal based contraceptive, you may experience irregularities in your cycle for awhile, due to the fact that your body has to re-regulate itself without them, now. Have you talk...
4 REPLIES UpdatedI have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for about a year now. My doctor swore that it would not make me gain any weight. Since I've always struggled with my weight, it was an important factor in deciding to go on birth control. Three years ago I lost about 20 pounds and I kept it off for two years, with little exercise. Anyway, now a year later after beginning Loestrin 24, I managed to gain 25 pounds. I just started college and I have not gained the freshman 15, so I know it isnt that. I do a lot more walking then I did previously when I weighed less. The weight gain was a gradual thing, and it really just hit me a few weeks ago when I weighed myself and half my clothes stopped fitting me. I find myself very depressed at times, and I cry very easily. I know depression is a possible side effec...
2 REPLIES UpdatedI've been on loestrin 24fe since the beginning of September. My pill did not get delivered on time so I took it a week late since I am a Sunday starter. I just got my period and have one brown pill left for tomorrow and next time I am due for my period (July 12) I do not want it then because I have something on the 13th and the second day is always my heaviest. What should I do to not get my period then? Should I wait a week to take my white pills like what happened last month or just skip my brown pills next month and start a new pack? By the way I have never had a problem with my pill and even after having to restart my period came right on time as it usually does. ## Hi, Allison! To skip your period and still be protected against pregnancy, you'd need to continue taking the a...
