Loestrin 24 Fe Significant Weight Gain?

I have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for about a year now. My doctor swore that it would not make me gain any weight. Since I've always struggled with my weight, it was an important factor in deciding to go on birth control. Three years ago I lost about 20 pounds and I kept it off for two years, with little exercise. Anyway, now a year later after beginning Loestrin 24, I managed to gain 25 pounds. I just started college and I have not gained the freshman 15, so I know it isnt that. I do a lot more walking then I did previously when I weighed less. The weight gain was a gradual thing, and it really just hit me a few weeks ago when I weighed myself and half my clothes stopped fitting me. I find myself very depressed at times, and I cry very easily. I know depression is a possible side effect, but supposedly weight gain is not. I was wondering if anyone else had the same weight issue with Loestrin, and any suggestions you have. I am sexually active, and this is the first birth control I've taken so Im not really sure where to go from here :(

Regardless of what your doctor says, or what the medication information says, weight gain is always a possibility with any hormonal based therapy, be it for contraception, or hormone replacement.

That's just how some women's bodies react to the hormones being added.

There are others you can try that may not have the same effect, if they use different active ingredients, or different amounts of them.

Otherwise, the only other thing you can do is watch what you eat and increase your exercise.

Another factor may just be simply aging. Your body will change as you get older, so you can't always expect to be able to keep weight off with minimal exercise, that's just not how it works.
