So ive been on birth control for a month and a week now and I always take my pill everyday at the same time, but today I didn't have my cell phone on me with the alarm that reminds me to take it. I then remembered I hadn't taken it and it was an hour and 19min late. Is this considered a missed pill? Should I take another just to be sure? I am sexually active and I had unprotected sex last week. Could I be pregnant? Answers please idk what to do! ## That really doesn't matter. It just has to be around roughly the same time. Like early morning, early evening, late night and so on. As long as you took it as soon as you realized you're fine. ## Thank you & I have one more question on the instructions of any birth control when you "miss" a dose are they calculatin...

Okay so I am 18 years old and I just started Lo Loestrin Fe 1 month ago(switched from Orthodo Tri Cyclin Lo.) I am almost finished with the "sugar" pills on my first pack and I didn't get my period yet and my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex a few times this month and he finished inside me but I figured it wasn't a big deal because I am on birth control and that is what it is for but the next day was when I realized I took my pill 5 hours later than the time I normally take it a dew that month because I started a new job and forgot completely until I got home.(Not everyday but a few times while on this month.) I heard if it is a contraception you have up to 6 hors to take it but it is always better to take it at the exact same time. I also heard Lo Loestrin Fe can sto...

I was on my period and it ended last sunday. I havent been getting my period on the sugar pills, so when it came during the Yellow it was Normal to me. I'm on a generic brand of this and yesterday I started the sugar pill week. I had unprotected sex on friday but only for a minute or so. So today was my second day of the sugar pills and I went to the bathroom and there was blood. I don't know what this is and Im really scared. I've been on the pill since January. Is this just me finally regulating to get my period on the brown pills? Or? I've been taking my pill every day at the same time and have not missed one. ## This is normal... As long as you have been taking one pill every day at the same time you have no need to worry. When I first started this pill I had breakth...

I've been on Lo Loestrin Fe for almost 2 years. For the first year or so, I had some light periods, some were just skipped, but 4 months ago I started two weeks early, and bled for almost 3 weeks. Since then, I haven't had a period, even though I haven't missed a single pill. And this month, I've had really awful cramping for several days. I took a test and it was negative, so I'm not pregnant. Plus I've suddenly gained 15 pounds, even though I work out 3x/week and watch what I eat. I don't know if the pill is making me gain weight and have these symptoms or what. Should I be concerned? ## Hi Jaci, From what I could gather, the symptoms you're describing are all listed as common side effects for most oral contraceptives. So in my honest opinion, I don...

I have never taken Lo Loestrin Fe. I am 42 yrs. old and I have just been diagnosed with PMDD and put on 10 mg of Prozac along with Lo Loestrin Fe. I have been on the Prozac now for 3 weeks and will be starting the Lo Loestrin Fe when my period starts, sometime this week. Does it matter if I take it before bed as I take the Prozac in the morning? Also, I have seen so many comments about weight gain and acne. Is there a good chance of this? If so, I am not so interested at my age to have these symptoms but desperate for the relief. Can you shed some light on this for me. Thank you! ## Hi Shannon, To my knowledge, it doesn't usually matter when you take the pill as long as it's taken around the same time every day/night. When it comes to birth control, there are lots of possible si...

I've been taking Lo for 8minths to help with hot flashes. Works like a charm! Side effects...no period, if I take my white pill I feel like I'll pass out & now, I've had breast tenderness for two weeks! ## Hi, Mandy! If you still get a period, this would actually be considered your perimenopausal time of life, you aren't considered menopausal until you haven't had one for 12 consecutive months. And yes, taking the break from the hormones would allow those in your body enough time to get off balance, again….and that's what's creating your symptoms. Breast tenderness can be caused by elevated estrogen levels in ratio to progesterone, it may be due to a lack of iodine, breast cysts or fibrocystic breasts in general…..everything except the iodine ...

I am on Loestrin 28 day and was scheduled to get my period next week and will be going in vacation. I was suppose to start the brown inactive pills this coming Sunday but I started the brown pills on week three instead of week 4 just to bring on my period a week early. I've been on the pill for over 2 years and is there any possible risk associated with this kind of change. Oh and last month I skipped my period on purpose so technically I've been on the white active pills for 5 weeks straight and now I am on week 6 with the brown in active pills to try to get my period early. Please any advice with help. ## Hi, Deb! How are you? You should check with your doctor, to make sure it is safe for you to use them in this manner. But as long as you don't miss any active pills, then ...

Hi, I am on my last week of the package and I've been on this pill for 4 months now. My period comes the day that I start the last week.... is something wrong with that? I take them everyday and have never missed one. ## Hi Sarah, Have you discussed any of this with a gynecologist yet? From a naturalist perspective (assuming you are referring to birth control, when stating "the package"), there is something wrong with that, in the sense that taking a "prescription" pill is an unnatural and unhealthy way to regulate periods and/or birth control. If you're able to, I would consider looking into a natural plant alternative (such as Clary Sage) that doesn't have the undesirable side effects of prescription meds. My girlfriend has been supplementing with this spec...

Hi Just started on Lo Loestrin Fe and got my period on time (perfect) but now it wont go off. Just when I think that its over I begin to bleed (not too heavy but not too light either). I have been bleeding now for seven days and my period normally last only four. The blood now is a light pink to light red color! I read to give it at least three packs. Has this happened to anyone else? ## This break through bleeding can be completely normal, and just as you read, it can last for the first 3 months that you are taking it, while your body adjusts to the hormones. Learn more oral contraceptive information here. If you find it really problematic, then you should contact your doctor, it may not be the right choice for you to use. I was supposed to start taking my new pack of Lo Loestrin Fe last Thursday but was on vacation and couldn't get it filled till today. My period ended up being longer because of all this and just ended yesterday. Does anyone know if it's for ok me to start the new pack today ( a week from when i was supposed to?) or if i should wait till my next period. Thanks! ## Unless your doctor has specified otherwise, you can actually start them at any time during your cycle, however, if you start now then you will need to use additional protection to prevent pregnancy for the first 7 days. The reason they instruct most women to start on the first day of their menstrual cycle is because then you are immediately protected and no other contraception is necessary. Help please! 38 years old, fibromyalgia, 3 children aged 18, 14, and 5. Unfortunately, I am a smoker. I had the Essure procedure it become sterile. The doctore put me on Lo Loestren FE until I take the test to confirm I am sterile. I have been on this pill for 5 months and I can't stand myself. I had breakthrough bleeding the first two and the doctor gave me samples and told me to take 2 pills a day. The breakthrough bleeding has stopped. I am so depressed to the point I question why I am here. I have gained 15 pounds so far, irritable, bloated, and my headaches are worse. I can dal with everything but the severe depression. I want to stop taking these pills NOW. I am 7 days into a new pack. Is it ok to just stop RIGHT NOW?? Can anymore help? ## Hi, Lilred! Sorry you're so miser...

I was reading the comments on Lo Loestrin Fe birth control pills and the side effects seem similar to mines. Some periods were short and some periods were longer (from 2 days to 5 days) and on other periods, I missed one in between. In my head, I thought these pills don't work as well as the other pills offered with other gynocologists. I actually stopped taking the pills because I was afraid the pills might mess my hornomanl system up. Hope there is some people who can easily say that there is birth control with advising to notice (diet changes and condoms). ## All oral contraceptives, as well as the shots and Mirena IUD are hormonal based and can mess up your natural hormonal balance. That is just what happens, when you add synthetic hormones to your body and unfortunately, even d...

Ive been working a lot and going to school so between my hectic schedule i some how completely forgot and fell behind a few days. It is now Friday and i still have Tuesdays blue pill to take. How many pills are okay to take in one day? ## At this point, it is best to just start a new pack, as you are no longer protected against pregnancy after missing that many in a row. You'll need to take tablets continuously for 7 days, before you are protected again. The max you can take in one day is 2, but that still won't put you back to being protected from pregnancy. You'll still need to take them for 7 days in a row to do that. Thus, it really is better on your health to just start over. In the future, I'd suggest finding some way to remind yourself to take them. For instance, ...

So I'm going on a trip in 8 days (May 31st) and I really don't want to be on my period during it. I'm suppose to get my period in 5 days. I just got birth control pills for the first time today. If I start taking the pills now even though I don't have my period yet, will that postpone my period until after my trip (I come home on June 6th)? Please help!! ## Hi Jenna, I'm not sure if it varies according to brand, so you may want to confirm this with your doctor/gynecologist first, but yes, it is possible and common for many women to skip or delay periods by only taking certain color tablets. I understand your concern, but there's really no way to say for sure. There's a chance that it could work to delay your period, but when you're adding these synthetic hormones to your body, there are no guarantees, because they could have the opposite effect and cause you to spot with breakthrough bleeding, or to start early. I really wish I had a better answer for you, but I don't. There'...

I'm on Lo Loestrin Fe, where there are 24 "active" blue pills, 2 "active" white pills (that only contain estrogen) and 2 brown "nonactive" iron supplements. I know that with other pills you can skip or delay your period (if you have an event or something) by skipping the sugar pills and immediately beginning a new pack. But I'm not sure how to do this with Lo Loestrin Fe. Do I skip the two white pills AND the two brown pills or just the brown pills I want to be sure I get NO bleeding. Edit Your QuestionHow can I purposely skip or delay my period on Lo Loestrin Fe? The last year on Lo Estrin has been up and down. Sometimes I have little to no period and other times it has been heavy and painful. The last few months I've had periods every 2 weeks. Always at then end of the pack but then again in the middle of the next. Does anyone have ideas as to why and if it will stop? Or should I just try another pill? I know when starting a pill there is a grace period. But what about after a year? I rarely skip a pill and when I do I take two pills the next day. Anyone have suggestions? ## That time period should only be about 3 months, not a year. At this point, I'd strongly urge you to just try a different one. There are quite a few others available on the market and it really sounds like this one just isn't agreeing with your body, at all. Lear...

I start every package on Wednesday. this is my first week and by mistake I took two pills on the same day what should i do? ## Hi Emma! How are you doing? Did you experience any unusual symptoms? Since they are hormonal based contraceptives, taking extra may cause cramping, breakthrough bleeding, irritability and headache. As to how to proceed, you should continue taking them daily through the rest of the pack, just as your are supposed to and, in most cases, you can just start your new pack a day early, basically changing your cycle by a day. However, you should check with your doctor first, to make sure that it's safe for you to do this. Are there any other questions or comments?

I posted in here a couple of weeks ago. I started taking Lo Loestrin Fe a month and a half ago, and bled for two straight weeks. I was also getting bladder infection after bladder infection, so I took antibiotics for it. Well, I only took them for two days (not a smart move on my part), then three days after that I had unprotected sex (also probably not a smart move on my part). I followed your advice and took a generic Plan B pill 26 hours after, and I haven't bled at all since then. I'm also still within the first three months of Lo Loestrin Fe and I've been told by my doctor that bleeding (or lack thereof) can be unpredictable. Still, the worry of pregnancy still lingers. Would there still be a high chance even after I took the pill? Should I take a pregnancy test as soon...
