You may also experience nausea, dizziness and stomach cramping. Has anything changed, or do you still have diarrhea and bloating? Are you on any other medications?
Can linzess be taken as needed. My antidepressant causes constipation? ## Hello, Jill! How are you? Some people do take it that way, depending on how it works best for them. There is no harm in trying it that way, if your doctor approves of your doing so. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, bloating, stomach pain and diarrhea. However, have you tried just using fiber supplements?
I have been on Linzess since August 2015. By February 2016 I began having heart problems, short of breath, pounding, racing, and palpatating. I have seen a cardiologist, and had a echo cardiogram that showed problems. I went for a heart cath, but only had minminal blockage. I wore a holter heart moinitor for 24 hours, and there was many instances of pounding spontaneous rapid increase in my heart rate, which is what I had been experiencing. Additionally, my lips, tongue, and nose begin to feel tinglely, and numb feeling. I was put on heart meds, and they helped for a bit, but are not working now. Has anyone else experienced heart problems with linzess as well? ## Hello, Esther! How are you? The FDA doesn't list such issues as being among the known side effects for this medication, t...
Can you tell me does liness clean your whole colon? Are how much cleaning do you get y us Iiness ## Since the effects of any medication tend to vary for each individual, I think it may ultimately be best to work closely with your doctor on finding a safe and effective dosing regimen. Taking it in close proximity to food is something that might also affect how well it cleans. I'd recommend browsing through some of the related Linzess discussion broads here in order to get a better idea of what results are being reported. According to NIH.gov, Linzess is said to work by increasing the motion of food and waste through the stomach / G.I. tract as well as by blocking pain signals - but it goes without saying that the amount of movement or cleansing taking place can unfortunately only be ...
I took linzess the next day after the doctor prescribed it to me and went pretty quick. Also cleaned me out. I take one every other day. So far so good. ## Hello, Debbie! How are you? I'm glad that it's working for you, some people haven't had good results with it. Have you experienced any of the side effects that the FDA warns you to expect, such as bloating, nausea, stomach pain and diarrhea?
I had an awfull expierence with my first and only dose of Linzess. I expierenced severe dizziness, lightheadedness after the first 3 hours. Then I noticed a rash on my face, swollen eyes, wheezing, sneezing and severe itching. These symptoms lasted 18 hours + and I continue to have an itching face the next day. I took benedryl evey 6 hours for 2 days. After reading the Lizness website, I found I expierenced "Rare" side effects and I have called Actavis to report my adverse reaction. ## Yes, those are typical symptoms of an allergic reaction, as listed by the FDA and it usually means you will need to refrain from taking this medication in the future, as these types of reactions can get worse with repeated exposure. How are you doing, now? Has it cleared up? ## I have Been taking ...
I started on the lower dosage 2 weeks ago, and I didn't go the whole week. Doctor bumped me up to the 290 dosage and have only had 2 very small bms a little loose. That is it! I keep reading about how everyone is getting diahhrea several times a day. I take it every morning 30 minutes to one hour before I eat or take any other medicine. It's like everything has stopped working. Even hard to pass gas. My stomach is distended and I have rumbling, but nothing coming out. Do I just continue to take and wait for it to work? So far, not very impressed with Linzess! ## I'm sorry about the problem you're having. Are you making sure to take it a full glass of water? Unfortunately, this medication doesn't work for everyone that tries it. The FDA lists its typical side effects ...
i was wondering when it will start working? i took it before dinner ## Hello, Kayla! How are you? Unfortunately, many people aren't receiving the correct instructions on how to take this medication. It must be taken in the morning, at least half an hour before eating or taking any other medications. Thus, this first dose may not work as it should. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, bloating and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?
I have other prescription meds.. I take them in the mourning. Is it ok to take lizness with them together? I just worry about linzess flushing my meds out of my body before they work. Thank you. ## Hello, Lee! How are you? Unless your doctor instructs otherwise, you should take the Linzess at least a half an hour before eating or taking other medications. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, bloating and diarrhea. What other medications are you on?
I need to know how long does ot take tp work after youve taken one . ## Hello, Kash! How are you? There is no specific time frame, because it can vary from person to person, bust many users have reported it taking about an hour. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, gas, bloating and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?
I've been taking lizness for almost 2 or 3 weeks.. But when I take it I do have results like a hour or so after but towards the night time I get bloated and can't go to the restroom and urinating even starts to become hard to do. And I also have cramping and pain with bloating towards the end of the day. ## Hello, BRead! How are you? Those can be normal side effects of Linzess, as listed by the FDA and most other users have reported similar experiences. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, abdominal cramping and diarrhea. However, the problem urinating is concerning and you should consult your doctor about that. Can anyone else that's been on it chime in? ## I too have issues urinating sometime when I take linzess and severe cramping and bloating, dizziness and n...
Can I take Lizness only as needed, maybe twice a week or do I have to take it every day. I do not like the idea of having to take a medication for the rest of my life daily so really only wanted to take it when it was really necessary since it works so quickly. I need it because of my IBS and have tried everything else but it still makes me nervous to be on it daily especially since it has not be around that long. ## Hello, Lori! How are you? You should take it according to your doctor's instructions. Many medications don't work as well, unless a steady regular level is maintained in the body. Typical side effects to this medication may include nausea, bloating, stomach pain and gas. Many people do take medications for their entire lives, for heart conditions or high blood press...
Just read some info on taking linzess and armour together. I have been taking linzess, armour, vitamin D and a probiotic together in the a.m. since I was first prescribed the armour. Now I'm wondering if I've had the full effect of any of the medications. How do I time all of this since both need to be taken on an empty stomach?
UpdatedI suffer from trapped gas in my left upper quadrant. difficult to have good bowel movements except with coffee, been that way for years. Doc put me on linzess 145 once a day - immediate and severe diarrhea but I was actually getting to a point of feeling "empty" - I suffered through 2 full months of this diarrhea until getting a bad bout of nausea and have stopped it cold turkey. Now I seem to not be able to "empty" my colon and get relief. I've also had muscle aches and gagging type of nausea recently. Even after 7 days I still feel those symptoms. Went to the ER to check for blockage and they found none (which is good) but that leads me to blame the linzess and question if it might have withdrawal side effects for some people. ## Hello, Brian! How are you doing? I...
I have a back problem and am taking pain meds that constipated me. Filling up until impaction and then blasting it out with potassium citrate, etc. Under the Doctor's guidance I reduced the pain meds and started Linzess. I did a clean out and then started the Linzess 3 days ago. So far nothing, no BM. I am on the 145 dosage. How long does it take this medication to work? I am taking it on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before breakfast. ## Hello, John! How are you? Usually, people see results with first dosing. Are you taking it with water? You may need to try to higher dose. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, weight loss, bloating and diarrhea.
I read somewhere that Linzess BLOCKS PAIN SIGNALS. If that is so...I'm concerned. Pain is our bodies way of letting us know something is wrong. I'm afraid that something may be going on and I will not know until it's too late. I started Linzess about 3 weeks ago. I was disappointed the first two weeks because I saw very little to almost no change. I stuck with it and now it is working. But again; I'm concerned about the Blocking of Pain Signals. ## Hello, Lidia! How are you? It does block them, but in the intestines, where it works, not systemic throughout your entire body, so I hope this information helps alleviate your concerns. The FDA lists its other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, bloating and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help...
I have suffered from constipation for over fifteen years. I have tried all the usual over-the-counter remedies for constipation and found that I was using a suppository with Miralax daily just to get minimal relief. My doctor prescribed Linzess because I was getting frustrated with the abdominal discomfort. I have been on Linzess for approximately two months now. It has definitely helped with the constipation, usually working within two hours. It is typically a very watery discharge. However, there have been a few days that I have had explosive diarrhea and several times I have had to plan my day around where the bathrooms are. There are pros and cons with taking this medication but the pros have the upper hand with me since it has given me relief. ## Hello, Mike! How are you? I'm v...
I have suffered constipation for years- sometimes no BM for weeks. Eventually- I just stopped all BM completely. I resorted to bisacodyl once per week. Eventually, I had to take 4 at a time- until that stopped working. Scheduled colonoscopy but the prep didn't work. Second prep did only because I mixed it with large amounts of bisacodyl. Results showed nothing. Doctor gave me linzess. 145 mg didn't work. 290 mg also didn't work. So, again, I took lots of bisacodyl. After that, I started the linzess again- after the clean out, I am now having BM every other day. Very loose but after the BM it's not like I'm running to the bathroom all day. I suspect I will have to periodically take the bisacodyl to keep things moving- but maybe only once every couple weeks instead of ...
UpdatedI been on Linzess for like 2-3yrs. It is the best that has happened since Zelnorm. I seen everyone's Q&A's and tp answer those in question. I work 8-4pm and usually take it around 3pm giving it an hr or so before eating and by 6 or 7pm it works wonders. For those having severe constipation like myself, I take another before bedtime which is 11/1130pm and by 530am it also releases the rest of stool. So in short, take one around 11pm or bedtime AND another the next day around 3pm (ASK your doctor first if two is suitable- as im not sure and never asked) AND (depending on your work schedule). Just make sure it's an hour before you leave work. ## I believe if you take it twice a day you may desensitize. I cannot site the NIH page I read this on but you could Google it. Best ...
I started taking this meds in the summer. I am a distance running. I am experiencing heavy legs after running 13 or more miles. I want to know if anyone has had this happen to them... ## Hello, Lynn! How are you? There are a couple of possibilities that may explain it due to Linzess side effects. As listed by the FDA, it can cause weakness, dehydration, fatigue and hypokalemia (low potassium.) Thus, you may be experiencing one or more of those side effects. Have you consulted your doctor? They should be able to help you determine which one(s) is/are causing the problem.
