No registration is required and your identity remains anonymous.Linzess was prescribed by my pcp, 1 capsule every other day for oic. It works within about 4 to 5 hrs and works just fine, no sidefects what so ever. The medicine works just fine for OIC. So whatever you people are experiencing has got to be a fluke, the medicine works just fine. ## We are all different, so a medication that works well for you may not work great for someone else that tries it. Have you experienced any side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, bloating, diarrhea, and abdominal pain that the FDA lists as being common with this medication?
I was on the 290mcg Linzess and the diarrhea and abdominal pain was unbearable. Doctor has since switched me to Trulance which just came out. Having regular bowel movements with no pain or diarrhea. Doesn't need to be taken with food either. I have fought this for years and for the first time in a long time it's manageable.
UpdatedAfter taking linzess for 8 months I gained 20 pounds and developed every symptom for hypothyroidism again. For the past 12 years I have been on synthroid 75. I have not had any hypothyroid symptoms once I began taking synthroid until taking the linzess medication. I stopped taking linzess and hoping it will exit my body quickly so my synthroid meds will begin working again. Why don't doctors tell you it prevents your thyroid meds from working? Why don't they tell you it will make you gain weight? I just hope I can get my thyroid and my weight under control again. ## A follow up on my hypothyroidism symptoms that was caused by Linzess: dr ran a TSH, T4, and a T3 blood test and the results showed I was on the low end but still within the acceptable range of the T3, the T4 and TSH ...
I was told by my gastro doctor to take linzess 30 minutes before I eat anything on a empty stomach. but it not working. he didn't tell me how much water to drink or whether I should drink something with my meal or not ## Hello, Clyde! How are you? I'm sorry that it isn't working for you. The manufacturer states that it can be taken with 1 ounce of water, or you can open the capsule and sprinkle the beads over a teaspoon of room temperature apple sauce, a half hour before eating or drinking anything else. And yes, when you do eat, you can have a beverage with your meal, as usual. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, flatulence, cramping, and diarrhea. Has there been any change? ## No there hasn't been any change.I also take 45 ml of lactulo...
I have been taking Amitza for about 4 months. Works great but over time getting extremely tired and sharp pains throughout body. I'm in process of trying to loose weight as well giving up dairy, red meats, and carbs. Switched to linzess three days ago. Reading posts that worry me about weight gain. Can you clear up the subject on weight gain and which drug works best? I've had issues for 19 years and tried everything. These medications both work for me but I need to have energy, no sharp pains and no weight gain. ## I added a multi-vitamin and b-12 supplement to help with energy. So far I'm doing okay. Been on Linzess for a week. It only started to work for me yesterday. Best of luck to you! ## @Kgirl, Posted below is a link to another active discussion thread here relating t...
What happens if u take linzess on a empty stomach? ## Hi Chelle, Actually you are supposed to take Linzess on an empty stomach. Then you need to wait one hour following the meal for the drug to work best. If you eat before taking this medicine you need wait two hours to take it. I am not sure what issues might result from not following these rules? Hope this helps ## Hello, Chelle! How are you? Thank you, Steve for providing the correct information. As to what happens if you don't follow these instructions, the efficacy of the medication may be reduced, so it may not work. It is best taken on an empty stomach, with a full 8ounce glass of water, at least an hour before eating. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, diarrhea and bloating. Is th...
Would taking Linzess on an empty stomach 30 before be just as effective? I have an hour drive to work and then approx. 1/4 to 3/4 of a mile before I get to my work station.....and there are no restroom on the walk in. I usually straving firsting thing in the morning so waiting until before lunch would work out so much better for me. ## I would also like to know that. I can't always take it first thing either.
I have tried taking Linzess as needed and everyday. My experience was more often used less lt will works. Taking a break from your Linzess just for one day can make it work better. But need to use fiber drink or stool softener in place of . Do not eat bananas or any food that will cause constipation. Drink 100% pure apple juice and orange juice high pulp and fresh oranges . Also eat activia yogurts with fiber one everyday will help . ## I would think that the fiber in fruit like bananas would promote regular bowel movements (as they have in my experience), but I know we are all different. Dried prunes or dates also reportedly aid in GI tract motility; and probiotics are another thing that may be worth implementing. I suppose there is no one right way to make things flow more easily, but...
I have been on Linzess for a month. My dose is now 1 every other day. I am still waiting to see if the diarrhea subsides on the new dose. I have had another problem which started about 5 days in. My hips started aching. Since then I have having muscle tension in my shoulders and upper back. I dont' want to give up on the Linzess, but am concerned about the muscle aches. Is the diarrhea caused by the Linzess dehydrating me. My urine output seems normal. Or could I be reacting to something in the Linzess? ## Hi Karen, Sorry to hear about the muscle aches/diarrhea. From what I could gather, both diarrhea and stomach pain are reported to be common but potentially severe side effects of Linzess (Linaclotide) that you should talk with your doctor about if the symptoms do not go away on th...
I've been taking Linzess about every other day for 2 months. Does anyone else experience some runny spurts than nothing like you're still constipated, like you're not completely relieved? I'm always so cramped up because I never seem to be complete. I try not to even eat because it seems it would just pack up more. :-( ## I had that happen after a hemmrroidectomy and the reason why the watery stool was squirting out was because of an impaction. Mine was at the rectal opening but some can have it further up. It can cause serious problems and a lot of people end up in the hospital from the impactions. I did oil enemas to break up the impaction. Once it is soft enough to remove you can use a glove and try and sweep the stuck stool out. Once the impaction was gone I was able...

Updatedhave been taking this drug for about 5 months and now it causes me diarrhrea and gives me severe pain in the very middle of my bod and causes bloating plus now I have been dealing with severe heartburn at nite. I believe the miralax during the day and metamucil at nite and the fruit I eat at mealtime or snack time can now keep me from having bowel problems so I want to wean myself off this drug. ## Hello, Char! How are you? Unless your doctor has instructed otherwise, it isn't usually necessary to wean yourself off such a medication, you should be able to just stop taking it, but as reported by the FDA, you may experience rebound constipation for a few days. Are you on any other medications? Or just the ones you've mentioned?
I am taking Constella for IBS but I also have a rectocele which seems to prevent a bowel movement unless I take laxatives and suppositories. Does this sound possible? Thank you ## Hello, Carole! How are you? Constella and Linzess both contain the same active ingredient, Linaclotide, so both are pretty much the same. The U.S. FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, bloating, stomach pain, and diarrhea. Rectoceles have been known to cause difficulty having bowel movements, according to the NIH, there are various treatment options that may help, including surgery. What has your doctor advised?
Can linzess and methylprednisolone interact with each other? How many hours after i take linzess can i take , the methyprednisolone? ## Hello, Maria! How are you? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed in the NIH database, but it is always best to double check to be sure. As to the dose spacing, you should stick with the normal gap of eating/drinking/ingesting anything else that you always do with the Linzess. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Methylprednisolone as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, and acne. Is there anything else I can help with?
Just prescribed Linzess for pain med related constipation, to be taken every day in place of my previous regimen. Reading the other postings, I am somewhat afraid to take it. Nevertheless, I would take my levothyrox 1/2 hour before the Linzess, then would take my other meds with a meal. Will the Linzess "wash out" the other meds?? Also, is "unanticipated bowel leakage" a possibility with Linzess? ## Hi Molly, Sorry to hear about the constipation from pain meds. Looking at others feedback on Linzess it's easy to get discouraged and not want to take it. However it is also important to understand that these meds tend to affect each person differently, whereas patients who don't have any serious issues with it would be less likely to feel inclined to post about their...
Linzess stresses keeping them in their original container with lid tightly closed but it doesn't explain why. Do they go bad or lose their power? I have accidentally left quite a few out in open air. I'd like to know if they're still good because I'd hate to have to throw them away as they are expensive. Anyone know the answer? ## I recently posted the following question: "Linzess stresses keeping them in their original container with lid tightly closed but it doesn't explain why. Hey y'all, I was on fentanyl 100 for 15 yrs, it worked or at least helped me lead a normal life. I have secondary progressive multiple sclerosis & basically all they can do is help the pain. I got off the 100 myself because of a bowel blockage. Major fun & games, NOT! Few months ago i went back, started on 25 then 50 & now 75. I feel absolutely no dif in my pain. Trying to get in to see a doc very soon. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE WITH FENTANYL? No Relief at all? It's all soo freaking depressing. So f****n sad. Thank you. ## Hello, Alexie! How are you? If you still have a tolerance built up, then the lower dosages would not help. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizzines...
I have been on Linzess for about 9 months. It was working really well until about a month ago. Now my stools are like small rocks and hard to pass. I sometimes go several times a day but only small amounts at a time. I take 290mcgs every morning at least 30 minutes before I eat. It's usually over an hour before I eat anything. I do drink coffee or Diet Dr Pepper. Can you think of a reason why I'm having problems? ## Hello, Kaye! How are you? Your body might just have become tolerant to the medication, this happens to everyone after having taken something for awhile, for some people one medication may last for years, but for others they can become tolerant much sooner. Linzess has also not been successful for everyone that's tried it, quite a few people reported that it didn...
Hi, I have been taking Linzess 290mg for ibs-c. I have struggled with that since my hysterectomy. I have been taking linzess for some time now and initially it didn't work which is expected. Then.....I had got the diarrhea. I took it like I was supposed to once every day at the same time every day. The diarrhea is a side effect I know of but the side effect I got recently that I do not like is I'm always hungry. After I take linzess and I "empty" every thing because of diarrhea I feel like I am always starving even though my stomach feels full and bloated. I just want and feel like I have to eat. Is this normal? Also I talked to my doctor who said that I could have gastreoperis because my stomach could not be emptying properly when I am not on the meds and when I take it...
Hey yall.. wanted to know if lizness cleanses the colon and if i need to take it everyday. I was looking for something to clean my colon n not have to depend on medication on a daily. Any imput would b appreciated ## Hello, Jamie! How are you? No, it doesn't actually cleanse your colon, it is used as a laxative to induce bowel movements in people that have chronic constipation. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, bloating, diarrhea and dizziness. There is actually no medical proof to the theory of colon cleansing, if there were, doctors would have us all doing it regularly. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you so much for responding and helping me to understand. I will address this with my doctor and entertain other avenues. I truely ...
