Yes it is a narcotic!! You have to pick up the script from the Drs officebecause it is. I take them daily.

Drug test are for testing for Illegal drugs. If a medication has been prescribed to you by a medical provider, and you took the prescription to a pharmacist to have filled and are taking that med. the drug is not positive. It will be a negative for Illegal drugs.
That being said, if you are being tested by your pain management provider, then they are testing to make sure the meds that are being prescribed for you are in your system in the right amount. If not, then you are going to have to explain why they are not. They also test to make sure other drugs that are not prescribed to you are not in your body.

I just gave myself a 12-panel drug test and I can assure you that it will not show up as barbituates, or anything else. I have been taking them for the last few weeks and I still came up negative for everything, just wanted to let you know to put your minds at rest. However, if the do a gm and they are specifically looking for milltown or soma you will come up positive, but they most likely would not do that.

lulu the reason heroin shows up as an opiate is because it is an opiate.In the old days there was a drug called diacetylmorphine, this was and still is heroin.Back then it was used in hospitals and at your local barber shop with the red whit and blue barber shop pole with the medical badge on it (sort of) you could get stitched up, little dope for pain,and hair cut! HaHa. Anyway heroin is made from raw morphine, synthesized by C.R. Alder Wright in 1874 by adding two acetyl groups to the molecule morphine, found in the opium poppy. It is the 3,6-diacetyl ester of morphine, and functions as a morphine prodrug, meaning that it is metabolically converted to morphine inside the body in order for it to work. In 1895, the German drug company Bayer marketed diacetylmorphine as an over-the-counter drug under the trademark name Heroin. Some crazy days indeed?! That is why and only why it shows up as morphine! It is up to 6 times stronger in it's "uncut" form, than morphine.
I know this is off subject about soma urine test but I just couldn't stand some of the comments as to why and what heroin shows up in a urine test. I also took 1/4 of a 350mg soma pill (I cut it into 4 pieces) before bed. It helps me sleep when I can't. I took this 5 days before my urine drug screen at the methadone clinic which is coming up and I to am worried it might show up. I guess we will see!

The reason heroin shows up as an opiate is if you're taking Norco and percocet mixed. It will come back positive as heroin if you mix the 2 narcotics

I have been on the Clinic for 7 yrs. So i've had a few mess ups here and there. But the one thing I think has saved my ass is I only go once a month and mainly because how much liquid I drink.
I work in an office now cause I hurt my leg so bad I got a buncha metal in it. I used to be an Alcohol when I hurt my leg I was used to either a half gallon of Evan Williams a day chased with Ice water or any Ice type strong beers when not able for liquor. I got in that habit and now I can easily drink 15-20 Diet soft drinks in a day.It's crazy cause in between each of those I have a bottle water or 2. I have never had a dirty (except the 1st couple weeks when I was just getting my dose right). it's been a long time since I did screw and never at this clinic I'm at now and that's what I credit my clean urine with when I have messed up. All the liquids nothing stays in my system long,I guess. but one time @ my old clinic they did say I had very low creatinine level and were gonna bounce me to daily hence, the clinic change.

Kat I was on Fent. Patches, Oxycod. (8) a day and methadone for 11 and a half years! You can't do it cold turkey. I don't know if your on a pain contract, but coming off opides will not kill you, if you can get Tramadol to help with cravings, Clonadine, and Fenragine you'll be good to go. That's what I had to do but it's not a pretty process. Good luck hun!

I was wondering if you knew about oxycodone and how its metabolites appear. I ask because I ran out a few days early last month, and took a single 15 mg pill 24-30 hours before my urine test. The doc said that the oxycodone didn't show up at all like it should. Not even its metabolites. This is getting to be stressfull. I can't understand why it didn't show. The other meds I'm prescribed showed up fine. I was honest with the doctor and told him I have run short by my own fault. He said, ok just make sure you take the med before your appt next time so we don't have to answer to the DEA. He is very kind to not discipline me, but I don't want to get his office into trouble.

I live in Texas where Soma is a narcotic and, yes, it will show up in a ua. My neurologist/pain management doctor does a uterine test on all patients every 3 months. He does not prescribe Soma so when it showed up in my test (at a kind of high amount) he threatened to dismiss me if it happened again. But yes, there is a test for it. Do not let these other comments fool you. And like I said, depending which state you're in depends on if it's been deemed a narcotic there yet. Hope this helps

I feel your pain as well kat I was on roxys n somas for close to 6 years n was takin well more then I was prescribed with seriouse neck back pain n have tried quiting cold turkey n like what Renee said you need a lot of will power wich I didn't have but I checked into a detox rehab and they gave me ultram cause I didn't wana detox off of roxys then detox off of suboxone I'm not exactly sure of mlg they gave me sry but within 5 days of taking it at every 6 hours I felt close to normal with no sleep no option to take xanax but I now kno how hard it trully is to get off a seriouse opiate n I'm not in as much pain as I thought look into the ultram n proper doses to detox I don't think they gave me enough but that's just my addictive thinking best wishes n good luck
