Side effects during first trimester of pregnancy? ## Hi Dee, From what I could gather, it is recommended that you keep away from using Hyospasmol (Hyoscyamine) syrup during pregnancy. Reason being is that possible dangers to the fetus have been accounted (at least in animal studies so far as I know). Because of this I would encourage you to discuss this with your physician prior to use, or if you are preparing to get pregnant. Often times in situations where the mother is pregnant and has to take a medication, it may come down to weighing out the risks versus benefits. I hope this info helps! ## I am 14 weeks and 6 days pregnant. Today got sharp pain in my stomach just below my navel. Pain comes and goes. Had consultation with my doctor via telephone as she's in another town. Had u/...

I have a question for the FDA and CDC. Drugs like Donnatal which had been on the market before WWII are now considered too dangerous. Many people have taken this drug as prescribed. In fact, I am 65 and took it at age 15 for ulcers with very little side effects. I look at the drugs currently being prescribed and see death, stroke, heart attack, liver failure, pancreatic problems, kidney failure, just to name a few and I have to question whether these drugs are not more deadly than drugs such as Donnatal? I know that any chemical in the human body has some side effects, but how can the side effects of approved drugs be any better than what has been used for years, not to mention the fact that unless a drug is priced to the max -- it doesn't seem to be considered safe. Drugs such as N...

Why would this drug be used in a weight loss program? ## I honestly can't say, I read over some more information on it just to be certain that I was remembering correctly, but I didn't find anything that made sense for it to be used to aid in weight loss. Learn more Dicyclomine details here. Do you know someone that's using it for that? ## Dicyclomine has been shown to be associated with an increased incidence of anorexia nervosa-like symptoms as a side effect due to the slowing of the peristolsis (locomotion / contractions) of the GI tract. ## It causes the stomach to empty slower which increases the time you feel full. ## Is anyone having severe cramping after you take it? Feels like contrations for real. ## I have been prescribed Dicyclomine for spasms this week and I hav...

Can Dicyclomine cause constipation as a side effect? ## It would make sense because it is an anti-spasmodic, it would therefore slow normal bowel function. Drink lots of water & eat fresh fruit!! ## Yes, Dicyclomine has been known to cause constipation as a side effect, along with nausea, dry mouth, and vomiting, according to FDA reports.

Need to know if cyclopam can be given to kids of age 8 suffering from stomach infection. ## Yesm my dictor gave it y o my little b a by. Half tab ## There are several formulations of this medication, but none of them contain anything that will treat an infection. That usually requires an antibiotic, if it is a bacterial infection, according to NIH studies. And when it comes to children, it is always best to err on the side of caution and consult their doctor. The main ingredient in all formulations is Dicyclomine, which helps treat gastrointestinal spasming, it will also not doing anything to help with any type of infection, be it bacterial, or viral, according to FDA studies. Are there any other questions?

Do antispasmodic drugs affect your libido? I was just diagnosed with a spastic colon. Are any of these drugs better than the other? ## What specific medication are you asking about? For hot flashes or Alternative Treatments? Nonhormonal? ## The FDA is a government agency and they want us to die, that's a no-brainer, to keep our SSI and thin out the population. I've never been so offended by doctors not wanting to write an RX and I'm suffering in pain. The amount is high so you can take bulls*** that doesn't work. None of them do. Matter of fact, if it's not a controlled substance I don't want it. It just doesn't work. They know wtf they are doing and belladonna was way better than donnatal. Freaking con artists. ## I've been prescribed Prozac to help with my perimenopause symptoms, including hot flashes. It doesn't eliminate all of them, but it really does help. I've been taking Donnatal and/or Belladona for over 10 years to treat IBS. When it was time for a refill, I was told both the brand name and the generic forms have been taken off the market. I am lost with these meds, that virtually eliminated the discomforts of IBS. ## I'm very sorry that you've run into this problem, it has to be awful to have that happen, when it's the only thing that works. Learn more Donnatal details here. What's been happening recently is due to the FDA crackdowns. There were some medications that remained available on the market, even though they'd never been tested and proven to be effective or safe and they've started to make the companies either do the necessary testing, or remove them from the market. The sad part is, that in spite...

I am suffering from a duodenal ulcer and I have been taking Nexpro RD-40 with Librax for 2 months. It has not cured as well as before. How many days will it continue and what are the side effects? ## All medications carry the risk of causing side effects, regardless of why they are taken. Nexpro-RD contains the active ingredients Esomeprazole and Domperidone, it is used to reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach, which can allow it to heal, over time. Librax contains Chlordiazepoxide and Clidinium and is used to treat similar conditions. Both can cause side effects, so you may experience: nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and flatulence. As to how long you should use, it can take several months for some stomach conditions to heal and an ulcer is pretty bad and will usually take ...

Mr doctor wrote prescription for Librax and did not specify brand name only. My local pharmacy dispensed Chlordiazepoxide-Clidinium at a copay of $4.86 for 40 pills.. However, my Mail Order provider sent me Librax at a cost of $162.39 for 100 pills. When I questioned the mail order company, they advised Chlordiazepoxide-Clidinium had not been approved for automatic substitution for Librax and they could not give me the generic. They did advise that if the prescription had been for Chlordiazepoxide-Clidinium they would have dispensed that drug. Are they giving me the facts or run around? I've been on Bentyl (Dicyclomine) for 2 months and have been experiencing bad headaches among other side effects. I've recently stopped and I want to know how long will it remain in my system? ## Hi Terry, Sorry to hear about the horrible headaches. I hope you've gotten around to feeling better since the timing of your post. According to the MedsChat half-life calculator, Dicyclomine reportedly has a half-life of 3.5 hours. This means that every 3.5 hours, half of the dose you took is being excreted (and so forth). In most cases I'm aware of, medications tend to remain detectable in one's system for up to 3-5 half lives / or 2-5 days. I don't know how what dose of Dicyclomine you took or how frequently it was taken, but hopefully these ballpark figures can give y...
