Thank you for this very supportive forum! I hope someone can ease my worried mind. I had wrist surgery ten days ago during which time a titanium plate and screws were attached to the broken bone(s). I was prescribed Hydrocodone/Acetominopen (5/325) for pain, but used only six of the 20 tablets during the past ten days. I've had pin-point pupils since that time --which I hope can be attributed to the Hydrocodone. Is it possible that using six tablets in ten days could cause this side effect? If so, how long can I expect this condition to last? Incidentally, I called my pharmacy today, the surgeon's office, and my primary care doctor --and no one knew that Hydrocodone could cause pin-point pupils. My GP wants me to see him on Monday so he can order neurologic testing! Please help!...

Doctor gave me a mouth swab and it showed positive for hydrocodone but I'm not taking that med, I'm on percocet 10mg, why is it giving a false reading of hydrocodone? ## I would like to know the same thing! I tested positive for hydrocodone and only take percocet and gabapentin. I have been removed from my pain clinic over this and dont know what to do because i actually do need my meds. Unlike many around here I do NOT sell my medication nor do i share my meds. I sometimes need more than i get but get by. Im scared that i will not be able to do the things i was able to do whem i had my meds. If anyone could explain i would be greatly appreciative. Sorry Nikki, i hope that you do not lose your medications. ## Were the tests just looking for levels of opiates in the system? Perco...

If a dialysis patient is bleeding for 6 hours (after treatment) rather than 2 to 3 hours before his/her blood finally coagulates in the needle insertion sites, could 1 Hydrocodone 5 500 capsule taken before or during treatment be the cause? Thank you for your help. ## Hello, Gidi! How are you? The Acetaminophen that's in it could cause some increased blood thinning, but usually not that much. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Are you on any other medications? Did you eat or drink anything else different that day? Is your doctor aware that you're taking this medication?

Anyone know of a Florida pharmacy that is filling written prescriptions for hydrocodone? Have not been able to fill for almost a month. I live in St. Lucie county. What the neck is going on? ## I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. This medication was changed to a schedule 2 drug at the beginning of October, which created a delay shipping it to pharmacies due to necessary labeling changes. On top of that, we are into the time of year when there is almost always a shortage of controlled substances, due to mandatory manufacturing limits. Once a manufacturer reaches their limit for the year, they can not manufacture new product, until the new year. Every year that I can remember, demand has exceeded supply and resulted in shortages. This is a narcotic analgesic, so i...

I tested positive for this substance (morphocodone) but don't take it. I have 10/325 hydrocodone and 50 mg tramadol prescriptions. I don't take them at the same time. I also have 200 mg of trazodone. I use hemp seed lotions a lot. Which I bought at Walmart. I also tested positive for delta 9 cannabinoids. I haven't used any marijuana to warrant this. The doctor then expelled me from his service and gave me a prescription for addiction! I have Lupus, fibromyalgia, degenerative tissue disease, severe scoliosis, spondylitis, pseudo-gout and osteoarthritis. I am very careful with my medications. I had a complete blood work up the same day as the drug test at a different doctor's office and everything was fine there. What the heck happened here?

My husbands dr recently dismissed him as a patient because he tested negative for hydromorophone. He has been taking hydrocodone 10 for a year now. Should he not have tested negative for hydromorophone? He isn't prescribed that. ## Hydrocodone is metabolized into hydromorphone in the liver. Codeine is turned into .morphine also.

I go to a pain clinic for chronic back pain. I haven't took my hydrocodone in over a week. I take two 5/325 a day. I have one left right now. Will it show up in my urine at 10am in the morning if I take it before I go to bed tonight or should I take it around 6am. I just want the Dr to find it in my system so I don't get cut off

I've been on hydrocodone 10/325 for about a year and take 3-4 per day. My pain issues are no more, and I want to stop using the hydrocodone. I have pretty bad withdrawal symptoms after about 12 hours of non-use. How long do the withdrawal symptoms normally last? Would I be better to taper or just stop using the medication cold turkey. ## I'm no doc, bt was on that medicine for a while, bt didn't ever hv bad withdrawals. . However, I've heard by many, it's better to taper than cold turkey & keep in mind, it can be dangerous to do on your own, so I really encourage you to tapper & possibly speak w someone who knows more medically about the issue! Best of luck! ## Yes, Luna is correct, it is better to taper, rather than just stop abruptly, especially with how lo...

generic hydrocodone 10mg/ acetaminophen 500mg no markings on white oval pill with a score line in the middle ## All of the tablets manufactured by Mallinckrodt in the U.S. have markings on them, as required by law. The law applies to all manufactured prescription medications. Learn more Vicodin details here. If there are no markings on it, then there are two possibilities.... The first and most likely is that it is something available over the counter and is not any type of narcotic whatsoever. The second possibility would be that it is a foreign medication, in which place the law I mentioned would not apply. Do you know where they were found/obtained? ## on line website ## I had a friend order these online they came from overseas he says they worked ok. They came in a box with the foil...

So recently I received a white Watson 853 that looks identical to the yellow ones; size, shape, imprint. Everything checks out except it does not feel as strong as the yellow. I was then told that Watson is not manufacturing yellow ones anymore so I checked the Watson/actavis website. They had no info on white 853. Are these fake? ## Hi Michael, Where a bouts did you get the pill from? If you didn't purchase it from an authorized seller, you could most definitely have a counterfeit. The only other thing I can think of, is that it may just be an old version that is no longer on the market. I believe Actavis pharmaceuticals now owns Watson pharmaceuticals so here is a link to the contact page of Actavis Pharma's website if you'd like to ask them about the pill you have: actavi...

I have found some pills that look size shape and color of my hydrocodone that were lost but they are in unmarked bottle and have 200 on one side what are these ## Hello, Wondering! How are you? The tablets that match this description are listed as being Rezulin 200mg, it was anti-hyperglycemic agent that has since been removed from the U.S. market. Many of these medications were found to cause dangerous side effects and complications. The only other close match listed is more of an oval/egg shaped tablet that is caused Stendra, it's used to treat ED. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, priapism and headache. Is the tablet more oval, or shaped exactly like the Hydrocodone?

My doctor moved recently and prescribed me 80 Vicodin a month for pain, and I can't find a doctor that will prescribe this. Anyone know any understanding doctors? ## Hello, Melissa! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. Well, you can't really shop for a new doctor according to what they will prescribe for you. If you call a doctor and ask them about prescribing such a medication, upfront, most won't even let you get in the door, because they are taught to view that as being drug seeking behavior. Additionally, 80 tablets is not a normally prescribed quantity. 2 a day would be 60 and 3 a day would be 90. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dr...

I have to take a urine toxicology drug test BECAUSE I take hydrocodone to manage pain. I am on a pain management system, with a legit prescription that they provide, so I'm confused as to why I have to take the test in the first place. Obviously I'm going to test positive for Hydrocodone. Do you think they are just checking to make sure I'm not taking a bunch of other drugs (illegal ones, or others that aren't prescribed for me)? I have to take this test before refilling my prescription for this next bottle of pills. I'm just confused as to what the hell they want to test for since they already know I take Hyrdrocodone. Any thoughts on the matter? ## Okay so here's the situation: I have a scrip for norco, 5-325. I have a hookup for norco, 10-325, which I prefer. ...

What is it going to been my med filled ## Hi Mary, I'm not aware of any current shortages for generic Norco, as there are no official announcements on the FDA's drug shortage list (linked below): accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/drugshortages You may want to ask the pharmacy you go to if it would still be available at a different dosage/quantity than you're used to receiving from your doctor; (after of course making him aware of what's going on as well). From what I've heard in other threads, sometimes they wont fill your script if the dosage or quantity is more than they are prepared to dispense. So any adjustments to that might make it a little easier to fill your script on a regular basis. However I would also encourage you to check with other pharmacies in your area as...

I have multiple sclerosis that cause leg pains and body pains. ## Hi Meletha, I'm very sorry to hear about your condition. But to answer your question, Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen is a narcotic analgesic used to treat moderate to severe pain. 5/325 is regarded as one of the lowest doses you can get, so god forbid in the event that things escalate, there is always room to ask your doctor for a stronger version of the same medication. You can also learn more about this drug on the page for Hydrocodone-Acetaminophen Details I hope this helps!

Would this be ok to take? 1 year later would be 2/14 ## Hi Debbie, There's actually an article in the LA Times Newspaper (which you can also find online) stating that researchers from the California Poison Control System, UC San Francisco and UC Irvine did a study investigating a variety of old drugs (Hydrocodone being one of them); and concluded that many of them are still ok to take even up to 28-40 years after the listed expiration date! That said, I don't think you have anything to worry about with your medication only being 1 year past the expiration. As long as it was stored properly and not left out in high temperatures, most of the potency should still be intact. I hope this helps!

Why are they discontinuing the white Watson Hydrocodone Watson now ? ## Hi, Harvey! Who told you it was being discontinued? Is it one that contains 500mgs of Acetaminophen or more? If so, that may be the reason. The FDA has requested that all manufacturers lower the amount of Acetaminophen in these combination medications to no more than 325mgs per dose, due to the danger of liver damage that can occur with long term use and the liver failure that can occur with overdosage. Some companies are already implementing the change and the rest are scheduled to have it completely by January of 2014. Saw a new ortho surgeon. Was taking Hydrocodone/Acetamenaphine 10-325. For lower back pain. He said "oh no, Don't take that!" and presribed Tramadol 50 mg. Why? ## Because it can be highly addictive. Also it is going to go from a Schedule III to a Schedule II, Oct 6, 2014. That means no refills, it can't be called in and you must see your dr at least every 90 days. Even though Tramadol can also be addicting, the risk isn't as great. Tramadol became a Schedule IV Aug 18, 2014. ## Hello, Pete! How are you? Your doctor may also be concerned about the Acetaminophen, taking it for a long time creates the risk of liver damage or failure. These medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation...

I work construction. have had 3 back treatments to no luck. the hydrocodone 10/325 helped me the best. I need a doctor close or a free clinic would be nice. {edited for privacy} ## Hello, Michael! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. However, a general practice doctor or clinic can no longer prescribe this medication. If you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. This medication was changed to schedule two at the beginning of October, so you can also no longer have refills on it. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. What is your general location? I could not get my presciption filled Anderson, IN pharmacy dont have my medication, they said there is a shortage... whats going on please ## Hello, Rebecca! How are you? From what I understand, there has been a shortage due to labeling changes, because this medication was changed to schedule 2 at the beginning of this month. Additionally, we are into the time of year when we always have a shortage due to mandatory manufacturing limits. Each manufacturer is only allowed to produce a certain amount of any controlled substance each year, once they reach that limit, they can't make any new product, until the new year. Demand almost always seems to exceed supply and we end up with a shortage for the last few months of the year. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to b...
