I have been taking lisonpril/hctz 20-25 mg, is it safe to switch to triamt/hctz 37.5-25 mg? ## There is currently a shortage of Triamterene with Hydrochlorothiazide, so you may have trouble getting a prescription for it filled. Has your doctor recommended making this change? The difference between the two is the Lisinopril, which is a ACE inhibitor and the Triamterene, which is a potassium sparing diuretic. They are both used to treat high blood pressure and cardiac conditions, but the Triamterene is often give to someone that requires diuretic therapy, but is too low in potassium. I have been getting the generic version Ziac 5-6.25 for years from Prescription Solutions. Now they say it is unavailable with no future date of availability. What is going on? ## I have no information on why there is a shortage, but there is one currently reported by Sandoz, they list it as being backordered. Have you spoken to your doctor? They may be able to suggest an alternative medication, or prescribe separate tablets of the Bisoprolol and Hydrochlorothiazide.

The answer can depend on the specific pain reliever, of which there are many on the market and the severity of the condition you are being treated for. For instance, if someone has had congestive heart failure, or their blood pressure is still somewhat out of control, then they have to avoid using any type of NSAIDs and may be restricted to just Acetaminophen/Tylenol.

My husband picked up my refill today. When I opened it to fix my meds for the week I discovered it is a new color. My pharmacy is closed. It is usually a sm all white pill. greenish blue with Th 1 ## My medicine (Triamterene Hctz was changed from a capsule to a tablet and it is defintely not working for me. I have swelling, a funny feeling in my head and a fullness in my ears!! Also a tightness in my chest. The pharmacist says there should be no difference in the drug but my body says different!! Can I eat 1/2 of a grapefruit daily while taking lisinop/hctz? I have done it once with no side effects. Thank you ## There are no problems listed between taking this medication and Grapefruit or its byproducts, but you should check with your doctor or pharmacist to be certain. Such an interaction wouldn't necessarily cause something you'd notice as side effects, what it usually does is have a detrimental effect on the efficacy of the medication, so some drugs may not work as well, or some may even be intensified.

Why is there a shortage of this pill? My pharmacy is out of it and hasn't had it for a week? I need this medicine and cannot find it. ## this site does not manufacture any medications and, while there has been a shortage reported, no reason has been given by the companies that do manufacture it. The shortage applies to the Triamterene and the companies involved originally reported that it would be bake on the market in May or June, but this clearly hasn't happened. Have you tried consulting your doctor for an alternative that you can use? A comparable medication would be Aldactazide, which contains Spironolactone and Hydrochlorothiazide.

Should I take him to doctor or punish him? ## Hydrochlorothiazide is used in the treatment of high blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is not subject to the Controlled Substances Act either. Unless your son is experiencing weird side effects after taking the pill, I wouldn't think he would need to go to the doctor. Does your son have high blood pressure? It's not anyone's say so except yours, to state whether or not you should punish your own kid for his actions. This is used to help lower blood pressure. ## After several months on Norvasc, I developed swelling of legs and feet. Also noticed shortness of breath if active(dancing). I was prescribed Lisino Hctz 10-12.5 in the USA for High Blood Pressure. I bought Lisionopril 10mg and Hidroclorotiazida 25 mg in mexico where i was told to cut the Hidroclorotiazida tablet in half and it would be the same. Is this true? ## Technically speaking, that is correct - however, the combination of ingredients in the Lisino Hctz may be synthesized together in such a way that your body would process separate doses of the Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide slightly differently. All in all, it *should* be fine. Be sure to get it cleared by a doctor or pharmacist (if you were not already told to cut it in half by one).

What type of pain relievers would I be able to take for the side effect(headaches) when taking Lisinop Hctz for my hypertnsion? ## You may want to check with your doctor, to be on the safe side, before taking anything, but I know when I was taking those and even continuing now, with my other blood pressure medications, my doctor has instructed me to only use Acetaminophen/Tylenol. I also checked the interactions database and there is nothing listed that it can cause a problem, when used with the Lisinopril-HCTZ. In most cases, when you have hypertension, they want you to stay away from the NSAIDs, such as Ibuprofen and Naproxen, because they can actually cause fluid retention, which can lead to other medical issues, such as Congestive Heart Failure. Are there any other questions?

can you eat grapefruit with this medication ## I did not find grapefruit listed as having an interaction with either Lisinopril or Hydrochlorothiazide.
