How To Get Off Suboxone (Page 27)

Updated

Im Marina Im 24 years old and a mother of 2 beautiul little boys. From the years 2006-2007 i was heavily addicted to Oxy 80 and eventually started doing herion. I got help in sep.2007 at a methadone clinic, it worked for as long as i was on the methadone i had NO relapse's. In June 2009 i was completly off of the methadone that first day that i was on 0Mgs I went through extreme withdrawls i went through things that i would never wish upon my worst enemy! i stayed that way for a day and a half and decided to go to a suboxone doctor. He put me on 32 mgs a day which i thought was pretty high of a dose but he explained to me that methadone withdrawls was worst then any other withdrawls. so i trusted him. Now when i go to see him every month i pretty much beg for him to start the weining process and start lowering me and he pretty much refuses. After months of being on 32mgs a day he finally started tapering me down slowly, i never really thought any thing of it till now but i realized he's keeping me on the suboxne for as long as posible so that he can get my $200.00 a month. all he is, is a legal drug dealer bc now im highly addicted to the suboxone. I recently had to go a few days with out my suboxone bc i didnt have the money to see him and i went through hell. i thought methadone withdrawl was bad OMG there is no comparison. i wanted to either use which i havent done in years or rip my face off lol its funny now but it definatley wasnt funny a few days ago while i was feeling that way! So i spoke to a good friend whos going through the same thing and he told me that they just came out with a new pill to get you off suboxone. I just want to know if that's true. I tryed googleing it but i cant find any thing. If you have heard of this new pill please respond or if you even have a good way to get off soboxone as painless and posible... thanx

Yes monkey very very true im in a after care program now and my dr and the people that work with us in our groups are very caring and trustworthy people i didnt know this till i started my program but in this state of NC a DR can only treat so many suboxone patients per month thats why its so hard to get a suboxone DR and the only way for a DR to prescribe suboxone is to have extra training in the treatment of addiction so with that being said they are not trying to keep you on this they have patients waiting to take your place but here is the thing its how much they charge for your visit that tells you weather they are trying to get money out of you or not my DR charges me $100 per visit once a month and it cost me $500 for my first visit that i made payments to him on. He saved my life im sure when you go from 25/30 1000mg pain killers per day to only taking 2-8mg suboxone a day i think thats pretty good its taken me a long time to get to where i feel better as far as my body damage that i was doing (stomach liver ect.) But now im feeling much better now ive been trying to quit taking the suboxone but its been a struggle for me it has a lot to do with my will power but i will get there eventually i say to most on here that are really trying to do what they are supposed to look back see where you were and what you were doing to where you are now are you better are you trying your best are you following EXACTLY what the DR tells you if you are and you are not getting better maybe you need to change DR are you being totally honest with him my DR could care less if he gets my money or not there is someone there ready to take my place but he does care about my health and life im sure. There are still very good DR out there if your not satisfied find another one take charge of your health be honest with them ask questions trust them or find one you do trust ADDICTION IS TREATABLE NOT CURABLE this is something you will live with the rest of your life. I also suggest taking a program like the one i take its extremely informative and they truly care. The best thing i have learned is im not alone and im not much different than the others in my class they are from age 18-70 and they have become support for each other my insurance paid for this class until i got into there after care program now its $17 a week but i gladly pay that just to be able to have that support from the friends that understand me. Whats your life worth ive lost way to many friends from this i dont want to loose any more and my life is more important than the cost of this. I wish everyone on here the best sorry for the length of my message.
Thanks Steve

I said u was not gonna take a crumb of sub todsy but felt the withdraw and anxiety coming on and have things to do today. So I took a tiny piece, like a crumb and I feel better but I NEED TO GET OFF THESE. HOW long does the withdrawal last. I've been taking suboxone for 9 months. 2mg. For most the time, now about a crumb maybe .5 mg.

Hi Jill, If you can cut your 8mg strip into 16 pieces that will give you 16 half mgs.
If you can get by on one of these little pieces once a day for a week then cut one of those little pieces in half (.25mg) and take one of those for a week. Don,t taper down until you can get thru the whole day without feeling lousy. Give your body time to adjust to the taper. After your on .25mg for a week stop taking it. Sub halflife is around 37hrs. I really didn,t start to feel the wds. until around day 4. Everyone is different. If you can get something to help you sleep just in case you have trouble may not be a bad idea. If you take the time to taper properly your probably looking at 10-12 day of feeling kind of bad but NOTHING like an oxy wd. You,ll be able to go to work or whatever. Sleep may be an issue for a few nights.
I didn,t make up this taper stuff. I did this last time I was on subs. The sub Dr. came up with the taper plan. You got to go slow and as low as you can. Don,t rush it.

Jill the key is taper very slow and to as little as possible eating food that gives you energy exercise or just doing some activity to motivate you and taking vitamins really helps i have been going through this for almost a year and a half now i fail because i dont keep to my plan but it because of me not the plan this time is going way better im doing all the things i suggested and its night and day compared to other times ive tried

Hey Jill, Sprinkle is right about going slow and also the excercise. Even when you don,t feel like it just a walk around the block makes you feel better.
I read somewhere that it gets your endorphines going or something like that. I,m really not sure what it does but it helps.

I don't know if anyone can help me with this. But, I have Hep C. Most likely from using a dirty needle or sharing a needle. My sub doctor told me that I should stay on suboxone while I'm on hepatitis treatment. He said being on subs won't make you feel as s***ty than compared to just doing the treatment alone. Does anyone know about this or have heard this? Thanks for your input!

actually such a pill would b a godsend, iv been stuck in just the suboxone cycle for almost 10 years now, n iv gotta say, for me at least its the hardest thing to come off of by far!! methadone is a close second but i was only on that for about 3 or 4 months. im stuck back on this FU**IN suboxone with no end in sight n im all the way down to 2 mg once a day, i jus cant do the final jump its complete hell!!! i dont kno y my body takes it so hard and i cant b the only one, if i could, i would honestly go back to my dope n pill habit to get off this junk but i cant even begin to afford that now, i get the boxen thru the state for free (i hate sayin that, sry to everybody whos gotta pay out the ass for em :/ i wish i could help) but like i said it would b a godsend if a pill came out to get u off ssuboxone

I have studdy this and find ibogaine is the real deal. There is a clinic in Toronto Canada, its$3000 I believe for 3-4 days and they aren't urs side 24:7 to make sure u have no problems. Plz google it! It's been used for thousands of years and it does reset ur brain back too the day before u ever touched drugs. And no withdrawls or relapse .
once I have the money , I am going to go too it and also a few of my friends! I have one friend that's done it , it's now been a month and no problems. He is brand new, as the day before he touched the evil stuff!

Its hard to believe how difficult this is, I am down to one mg a day.....still extreme hell to jump off, nearly death feelings and must function faily w kids, a must. Do I understand. Exercise is amazing, wish I would have started running sooner. Really does help make you have energy and feel good. Justa ten to fifteen minute run helps increase endorphin s. And its a myth that you sweat out your meds. Not true.. interesting chat bout ibogaine. ..hudidnt know this..

Hi Jill, Not sure if you were talking to me. I,ve come off subs several times in the past. My problem has allways been staying straight afterwards. I,ve tapered about the same way and jumped off at around .5mg to .25mg. The most important thing is to taper slowly and just cutting dose a little bit at a time when you get below three or four mgs.
Don,t taper until your body feels comfortable on whatever dose your on. Then when you drop a quarter or half mg wait again until your body gets used to it.
Don,t rush it.

I only have about a 3/4 strip right now so I will work with what I have. Are u sayin after 4 days of not taking it I will feel the wd? I have klonopins that I can take and ill buy some tylenol pm. I already take the klonopin so I have a tolersnce so it may not help. I'm on uas so I can only come up hot for benzos since I have a script. What can I take to help me sleep that won't come up in a ua? Seriously, ur sayin 4 dsys later the wd comez on even after only taking .25? Oh no. I'm scared. I can't drink either. I'm on etgs. I can't go back to jail and I have this secret.my boyfriend and family don't know I've been on subs since Sept. 1mg. But I will do what u say and cut it. Into tiny pieces. Thank u.

Thanks Jill. I just found out the other day that there is new treatment for hep C. No more taking 3 pills a day and no more poking yourself in the tummy with a needle. All you take is one pill a day for however long. I hope Froedtert has this new treatment. Either way, I'm nervous. But thank you!

Hi Feliciano, You gotta go slow and when your on higher doses you can take bigger tapers and not feel them too much but when you get down low like 2 or 3mgs you have to do little tapers like .25 or .5mgs because you really start to feel it then. You should never go down on dose until you feel comfortable on whatever dose your on. I got this info from an honest sub dr. I had once.
Hey Jill, Everyones different when it comes to wds. I never felt much of anything when jumping off subs until around day 4 but some folks will start to feel wd right away. Don,t know what to suggest for sleep. Allthe OTC stuff never really worked for me. They do for some people though.
