How To Get Off Suboxone (Page 25) (Top voted first)

Im Marina Im 24 years old and a mother of 2 beautiul little boys. From the years 2006-2007 i was heavily addicted to Oxy 80 and eventually started doing herion. I got help in sep.2007 at a methadone clinic, it worked for as long as i was on the methadone i had NO relapse's. In June 2009 i was completly off of the methadone that first day that i was on 0Mgs I went through extreme withdrawls i went through things that i would never wish upon my worst enemy! i stayed that way for a day and a half and decided to go to a suboxone doctor. He put me on 32 mgs a day which i thought was pretty high of a dose but he explained to me that methadone withdrawls was worst then any other withdrawls. so i trusted him. Now when i go to see him every month i pretty much beg for him to start the weining process and start lowering me and he pretty much refuses. After months of being on 32mgs a day he finally started tapering me down slowly, i never really thought any thing of it till now but i realized he's keeping me on the suboxne for as long as posible so that he can get my $200.00 a month. all he is, is a legal drug dealer bc now im highly addicted to the suboxone. I recently had to go a few days with out my suboxone bc i didnt have the money to see him and i went through hell. i thought methadone withdrawl was bad OMG there is no comparison. i wanted to either use which i havent done in years or rip my face off lol its funny now but it definatley wasnt funny a few days ago while i was feeling that way! So i spoke to a good friend whos going through the same thing and he told me that they just came out with a new pill to get you off suboxone. I just want to know if that's true. I tryed googleing it but i cant find any thing. If you have heard of this new pill please respond or if you even have a good way to get off soboxone as painless and posible... thanx

Thanks for your feedback! I know it will be very tough. Sounds like I need to get way down to .5 before I take a week off. Ugh. I'm not looking forward to this. The doctor said that many people don't have a difficult time getting off of it. I can't imagine this is true. I'm a licensed therapist and I specialize in addiction for many years. Not sure I would encourage someone to go the Suboxone route.

Monkey everyone is different when it comes to wd symptoms some do very well and others like me dont i have to say suboxone really saved my life i was takeing about 25 to 30 norco 1000mgs a day i had got really bad and a girl i was dateing got me to try this and it worked i was on the norco for 11 or 12 years and now all i do is 2 8mgs subs but ive been trying to get off them also ive not relapsed but ive not been doing what i want to accomplish because i went to fast im getting ready to try again i hope and pray i can do it this time im just gonna go slower this time and get down as low as possible before i stop it may take several months but i will do this ive started catting back today when you begin its easy to cut down by half till i get down to 2mgs a day thats where i always want to keep cutting by half and it has got me a few times my plan is to cut down by half every 10 days till i get to 2mgs then im going to cut by 1/3 see if that works i also plan on excercise and eating good meals ive never had a weight problem in my life ive never been over 165 lbs and now im up to 180 but i needed to gain some and i hope with the excercise and meals i can tone up some i feel great and i know ill feel even better when all this is over keep up with your plan keep strong you can do this

I would try licking the package. I don't even care. That's what I would do if I was weaning myself down. Isn't there suppose to be 4mg strips? That would be much easier to wean then the 8mg strips.

Thanks guys. I wonder if I could get the 4 or 2mg strips? I will try asking my doctor. And does anyone know what I can take for my stomach dropping. I started weaning myself down and been having bad stomach cramps and diarrhea. Pepto is not helping. I think I spelled it right. thanks!!!!

I was relieved to see that others were having problems with food and weight. I didn't realize it was the subs. Does anyone have problems with nighttime eating on it? I never had a problem with this until on the subs. I have a feeling that it's more related to hormones, but curious if other on subs experience nighttime eating. I'm talking about also getting out of bed and eating in a fog! Never did it until subs.

I've been on 2mgs of suboxone for 7months. I cannot afford it anymore. And I am tired of being onthem but don't have energy to go about my day if I don't take a little piece. I have a whole bottle of tramadol.do u think in can stopthe sub and go to tramadol with no pain or sickness

Hey jill you can do that just be very careful i know people say that they are not addictive but they are i take a class every week and there are several people in there for being addicted to them just take what you need to get through the day and eat healthy meals take vitamins you have to make yourself get motivated and excercise thats really the key to this i know you can do this if your down to 2mgs keep getting lower on your doses and try to get down to .5mgs of less before stopping if you eat healthy excercise and take the vitamins you will see a big difference thanks and have a blessed day. Ive been on .5 each day and its so difficult still...had a family emergency come up in the midst of my 'time to get off completely andhad reside to taking again just to get by. Seems hopless...im bout out my subs and sooo unbearably tired, withdrawn. Need help, a doctor, something, how can I live this way and function to take care of my children too?

Hey jill, sprinkles is right. If you could get down to .5mg a day it would be better. Try going down .5mg a week till you get to .5mg then after a week just stop. You have some tramadol for the first few days if neccesary. Don,t take over 150-200mg of trams a day.

I'm having trouble figuring out the 2 mg, and 5 mg. Right now I take a 8/2 and cut it into 4 pieces, so am I taking 2 mg ? I want to start cutting them in half next week. But I have to know how much I'm taking. If anyone could help me I would appreciate it. Thank you. God Bless You.

Hey Jill- that's awesome that you have some tram to help with the withdrawals once you stop taking subs. jolter is right. Take just what you need. And then wean off that everyday. From what I read about tramadol it seems to help with withdrawals. Just please be careful and take only enough to help you get through the day. Blondie-from what I was told there are 4 mg strips. Maybe if you can get those that will help in your weaning. None of the walgreens around here carry the 4mg strips. It's frustrating! Cuz that's what I need. Monkey- I used to wake up in the middle of the night and eat a huge bowl of cereal. Sometimes, I didn't even remember doing this. But it got better as time went on. There is still times I wake up and feel like I have to eat some junk food, but I tell myself to lay back down. That I don't need to eat. I do have eating issues. I just want crap food. I don't eat healthy meals ever. And I think that's why I have teeth problem.

Yes, your right. Those 4 pieces you got are 2mg each. If you take one of those pieces and cut it in half you will have two 1mg pieces.
If you were to cut one of those 1mg pieces in half you would have two half mg. pieces or two .5mg pieces. When folks say there taking .5mg it just means there taking a half mg.
In the past when I got around 2mg I would taper a half mg a week.
It,s hard to cut the strips so small but ya gotta do what ya gotta do I suppose.

Lala thank you for your feedback. I'm curious if anyone else has had nighttime eating on the Suboxone. I've been treating it with some fancy therapy which isn't changing it and I think it's because it's the Suboxone causing the cravings. It's such a powerful drug, and I tend to be in denial of that because it's physically so small. Wow, it's powerful! I don't regret going on it though.

Blondie, I think you should be able to find a doctor who doesn't charge $250 for every appointment! Usually the initial assessment is very expensive, but following appointments shouldn't cost that much. I suggest that you either ask them to give you a sliding scale fee based on your ability to pay. If they won't do that, maybe another doc will. Most true healers will make allowances for this. I'm concerned that if you just stop taking the Suboxone you will get back on the opiates, because they are cheap and will take you out of detox.
